Doc, off hand, do you know the ratios of male and female eagles over the islands? I wonder because if there are fewer males, we may see more and more mate changes and the females fight to mate??? Although it would seem right now, A49 has two mating possibilities ....Thank you. |

There are more females than males, but there are several unmated males. It is best that A49 does not breed with her brother again, as there are probably lots of potential problems with inbreeding. |

Last year's failure was probably just inexperience and stupid nest placement. They were far from the water and may not have known to feed the chick(s), just as A49's parents did for the first 3 days of her life. |
