QUESTION TO IWS PERSON/S Regarding the posting on F.B....I guess the one reference below is from today....

Posted on the IWS Facebook page
" Eagle chick season has arrived. We currently have two chicks in the Lopez nest on Santa Rosa Island and one chick in the Seal Rocks nest on Catalina. We expect the Two Harbors egg to hatch around the 24th or 25th (depending on which egg disappeared) and the West End eggs to start hatching around the 30th or 31st."

MY POINT and INQUIRY...
I MUST ADMIT...IT TRULY PUZZLES ME AND IRRITATES ME ON THIS SUBJECT OF IWS POSTS ON F.B.... GREAT! IT IS FINE THAT IWS POSTS ON F.B...BUT THEN TURNS AROUND AND SKIPS THE SAME TIMELY POSTING HERE. INSTEAD ...IT SEEMS IT HAS TO BE NOTICED BY SOMEONE HERE TO BRING IT TO THE FORUM...WHAT ARE WE CHOPPED LIVER OVER HERE? MANY OF US DO NOT USE OR WANT TO USE F.B.!

I DON'T KNOW WHO FROM IWS IS POSTING THESE ANNOUNCEMENTS ON F.B. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MANY OCCASIONS BEFORE..IT SURELY CAN'T BE THAT MUCH TROUBLE FOR THE IWS PERSON/S ...TO POST DIRECTLY TO BOTH PLACES, SIMULTANEOUSLY,, HERE AND F.B AT THE SAME TIME. THIS IS A REAL BURR UNDER MY SADDLE. CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN? :(

I hear ya! I do go on daily on FB. But I always look to CHIL for updates on the eagles. I don't go into the IWS FB page daily, and wouldn't know things if it wern't for those bringing it over. Without updates here, why is there an update tab. Just wondering too.

We post the weekly updates on the CHIL site. We have so many forums following the nests that I can't post daily happenings on all of them. By posting on Facebook it gets to all of them within minutes.

The last Catalina update was February 27, over 3 weeks ago!

They use to be weekly updates! Now, not so much.

The Anacapa update was from Maria because she was on a boat with me and not on Catalina. These updates are done voluntarily by the crew and I can't require them to work on their days off. I'm sure Maria will post something this week because of the hatchings. The whole crew is doubly busy this season because half of their time is being spent searching for and monitoring over 30 peregrine falcon territories, unlike previous years where they might only be monitoring a total of 10-15 bald eagle territories. They send me an update at the end of each tour for what they did and I could post those instead, but they don't have any photos or video.

Dr. Sharpe -- We really do appreciate all you and your crew do!! It also looks like you and your crew are quite stretched with all the nests plus responsibilities for all the technology.

Thank you!!

Thanks Peter for your response. Is the IWS now monitoring peregrine falcons? Seems that's a lot of extra work for you and your staff. I thought the Catalina Office was about the bald eagles? Any news on A27?
