Santa Catalina Island, CA and the active bald eagle breeding territories in 2012.

All Eagles All The Time 2013/2014 is an Archival/History in Videos showing the various stages throughout the year in the lives of the Eagles ...

K-01/male & Wray/female ... on the WE - West End Nest on Santa Catalina Island.

This is the WE nest

Season 2012/ 2013 was another successful one for this nest.
The three eggs laid all successfully hatched and K-27/Newton, K-28/Bella & K-29/Marthe all successfully fledged in June/July 2013 .. but Marthe .. was lost too soon.

Please check out the Class of 2013 to enjoy last season's memories of Nestorations to Fledging.

The adult eagles .. Wray and K-01 .. will soon return to their nest to commence nestorations in readiness for the new season.

The Videos that will eventually be posted here on this thread will cover ALL the stages from Nestorations to Fledging

Each day on the Daily Observations thread ... also known as Nest Watch ... the observers record through commentary, videos, stills and screen captures what is happening on the nests.

So please check there for more information.

GETTING SERIOUS ABOUT NESTORATIONS!

September 2013

Normally we wait until the adults start to visit their nest and/or bring in nesting material .. fluff, sticks etc .. before starting to post videos on this thread.

However, as we are all anxious about Wray's limping .. although nothing could be seen on August 17th, when she was on the nest, and the cam zoomed in on her left leg/foot .. all the videos are being posted to try and determine, even from a distance, if she is still limping. If so then the IWS may decide to try and trap her.

August 31/13: Posted on the IWS Facebook page.

" I (Peter) spent about 3 hours at the West End trying to get a good look at Wray. I saw her perched for a few minutes and then she disappeared to the south. I could not determine whether she is still limping, so will hold off on trying to trap her until I get a better look at her movements to determine if the limp is getting better. "

Catalina Island Update: August 19-31, 2013. ( Posted on September 3/13)

:<<o>>: Wray news: Wray appears to still be healing from her injury. It definitely is not hindering her hunting skills as she is still pooping and appears to have a healthy body condition from a distance. :)^ So, her gift for survival is not in question. We will however continue to watch over her and read your posted observations.

September 5/13. Posted by Dr. Sharpe on the IWS Facebook page.

"I have placed bait at a potential trapping site for Wray for the past few days. I'll put more out every other day or so to see if she will start visiting the area regularly. If so, we'll evaluate our trapping options."

Catalina Island Update: September 3-11, 2013. (Posted on September 11/13)

" Pete has decided to try and bait Wray to trap her. He would like to have her looked at if possible. He has selected an area that is somewhat flat and we can hike to. This is also a spot we have regularly seen Wray and Superman hang out. The bait used is pork, fish and deer. "

Catalina Island Update: September 25 - October 2, 2013.

" We finished the last of our bait drops yesterday .. October 1st .. It looks like Wray is not going to take the bait! She is just too smart for that. She watched us while we put out food yesterday too. "

" We spent a couple solid hours watching Wray. We were able to see her grab a fish, poop and scratch her head. We did not see her walk. It was decided that if she was debilitated then she wouldn’t have survived this long. She may not be fully healed but she seems to be doing ok."
