It would be much appreciated to get a message about why these Catalina cams have difficulties. In the past years the biologist's was so kind to send some messages about this. It would by nice to hear about the problems with these cams or if we can do something like the” Nest Adoption Challenge”, for to get these op to work. I really love to follow all these cams!! It is the season for eagle cam renovations and replacement. We are having slow internet issues on Catalina, which has resulted in all the cameras being stop and go. Therefore, I'm going to turn off all but the West End close-up cam for now so that I can recharge the batteries and limit internet usage. We've purchased high power antennas to get a faster internet connection directly from the International Bird Rescue center in San Pedro on the mainland (~10-20 times faster than what we have on the island) so that we can stream next year's nests at a higher quality. We'll be working on all the systems over the next two months, so hopefully everything should be up again by Thanksgiving. |

Hi Dr. Sharpe, thank you for to take the time and answer me! It is impressing, that all web cams are driven by solar energy and they are almost always online. Sorry to hear, that, Catalina Island do not have enough Internet bandwidth, I hope these new antennas will help. We also have a solar drive White Tailed Eagle web-cam and it works much lesser than yours. I love to watch these cams, following all news about your work and the IWS crew. I started to follow our White Tailed Eagle project in 1997 in our country and has been so fascinated of these beautiful and majestic eagles since. Thank you so much! Maria K.
