And Penny, thank you for posting that picture, from the Tower of London, Sea of Red.

Yesterday, I put a similar picture on the teacher's computer desk top, then pointed it facing outward so the students could see. It was a science class with much to cover, but they briefly heard about Armistice Day/Veteran's Day - and a least saw something to remember this day for.

Penny...Thanks for the photo of your Dad and his medals. I don't do PB so don't have pictures for the Forum. During WWII my father was on the USS Leedstown when it was torpedoed off the coast of Algiers...six of the survivors, including my father, had their picture taken after they were rescued...such a rag tag looking group proudly holding the US flag. It's one of my favorite photos of my father...DD put it up on FB this morning...made me feel proud.

Chiquita.. mail it to me and I'll try and post it…. never too late...

I was with my honey today. He's a veteran of Vietnam and NEVER talks about it. But I did learn that he got the purple heart but too painful/classified to talk about I guess. They are putting him thru a battery of tests the next few weeks. He was effected by agent orange. Maybe they are finally going to do something for him as well as many others that served during that time. He's one lucky/brave guy.

Both pictures of Dad's always gets me. I know mine was in the Army and received a full military funeral. I never asked why but I imagine like many of them deserved that and so much more.

The pictures of Poppies was stunning.

Lala thanks for posting the :clk: Don't they all look so young? I'm guessing the guy in the front with his uniform cap on is maybe the oldest. The gun looks like it is on backwards but maybe it's in the perfect place to reach over to draw quickly  Can hardly wait for Chiquita to tell us which one is her Dad. What a story about the rescue too. Those guys were not going to abandon their ship until they absolutely had too. As Carole said they were all heroes :)^

Awesome that your brothers received such high honours Carol and Sandie give your honey an extra big :Hugs: from us too.

I really wish I knew how old my Dad was in that photo. We did not have one of him in his uniform so my sister made that little montage. My aunt may have some pics though because she has things that belonged to their mother. My Dad grew the mustache to look older, as did a lot of enlistees at the time :D

Hi Carol, what a wonderful generation of American soldiers we were blessed to have as Fathers and Uncles, and relatives.

Chiquita, hooray, it's up. Thanks Lala. I'm logging off soon, but I'll have to find out tomorrow which one is your Father.

Good night friends.

I think your father looks a lot like my middle son Joel.. the girl's father… I would have to try and find a similar photo….maybe that's why I was drawn to him before I knew he was your father.
