Penny, I also imagined drawing the pistol from right to left… across the body… wonder if he ever had to do it??? This was a war you know… I too enjoyed reading the history.

Lala...Thanks for the additional info on the Leedstown...so much more to check out. I have the names, rank and hometown of the other men in the photo. My father had just turned 30 when that photo was taken. Notice the man standing next to DF...looks like he tied his shoelaces together and draped them over his left shoulder. The two men in the front row, center and right, look so young.

Chiquita I didn't see a George on the crew listing for the Leedstown. There is a link to add crew members names, rank etc and any pictures here:

The gunners mate was only 17!!!

The amount of detail listed is astonishing really. There are only 11 crew members listed and 9 of them died on Nov 9th. Looks like none of the men in the photo are on that list. You can email them any info about your Dad and they will add his name and details to the crew listing :)^
