 Carole the way you posted the eagles this AM made my eyes cross. I thought that is a very weird tree......I hope the babies are safe rofl

Marti you never told us how long you were in the car last night? Are you still there talking to friends?? :<:: You are a smart cookie staying away from pouring rain. DD had thunder and lightening last night and all I got was a few sprinkles. She lives maybe 7-9 miles away from me!!

I spoke to my cousin last night. What a sad state of affairs.....They never released any of HER belongings much less any of her mothers or brothers. The new owner bulldozed the house. He didn't have insurance on the house either. Seems to me that is illegal isn't it? Especially if there are tenants in the house. She said she took pictures of the family photos on the walls that were still standing. I would have taken them!! Ted had one old car that barely runs that they were allowed to take. Her husband lost his job and now they are living in that car. She said she buried her mom in the veterans cemetery up there but I forgot to ask her about her brother. She kept breaking down crying while she was talking to me saying what a blessing it was to hear from me......she thought I was dead too. We were pretty close when they were little. I told her to get to a shelter and out of the car. She told me that LA sends a lot of their inmates up there and when their time is up they release them onto the streets up there and they are constantly re offending up there and the shelters are full of these people. They are afraid. Plus if they leave the car somewhere some one will break into it or steal it. I just felt so sick after talking to her. No one knows where her sister is. She had been institutionalized but no one can find her. :'( She said she got no indication from her brother that he would commit suicide. And she thinks her mother was under so much stress with the house situation that when the new owner came and argued with her brother so loudly that her mother might have had a heart attack. I have taken a lot of pictures with my cell phone of family photos and I am going to send them to her. Plus Aunt Jewel sent me several pictures so I will take pictures of those and send to her also. At least she will have those. I'm amazed they wouldn't let her have anything. :( Her brother was a mechanic and at least she could have sold his tools to help pay for things. :'( What a heartbreaking thing. She has her 19 year old cat with her that was in the fire. It's lungs are effected I guess. She kept interrupting to get the cat to stand up so she could "pound" on its side to break up the stuff in its lungs. I'm glad I was able to reach her. I felt bad for making her cry.

Maybe that owner could be prosecuted for destroying what little property there was left in your Aunt's house  Maybe your cousin could talk to an attorney who would offer their services 'pro bono' so they wouldn't have to pay for them. This is such a <:3 rending story. The journalist who did the initial story on the fire should be contacted so they can tell their follow-up story and maybe that person would have the resources available to find the sister too. Maybe that could generate some donations to help them get through this situation. Living in the car through a winter is not a good idea

Oh, Sandie, that is all so horrible about your aunt and cousins. We don't realize what some people have to endure until we hear about things like this. I feel so sad for you and all of them. Penny had some good suggestions if your cousin is OK enough to carry them out. :Hugs: :Hugs:

I had to get my car smog checked so I could complete the registration renewal. For the first time, it didn't pass. The guy said that there is an "evaporation" problem. The gas cap had cracks in it and he said it might be caused by that and to get a new one, drive the car about a hundred miles, then bring it back. If that doesn't fix it, then the problem is caused by the transmission, which also has some problem. I have no idea how much it would cost to replace that. I already spent $!00 today, just for the inspection and the gas cap. I wish I could buy a new car. This one is 16 years old. Of course, I only have about $7, not much for a down payment.

We had rain for less than half an hour last night, and two bouts of thunder. The sidewalk was still wet when I went about at around 10 A.M. but the sun was shining by then.

I just got new glasses and what I see through them is worse than when i wear no glasses at all. I have to go back and see the doctor. I don't understand how this happens. I hate those little procedures where they ask you which is better, #1 or #2 or #3, etc. I have trouble figuring it out. It seems like it should be easy but it isn't. :'(

If I can't tell, I ask them to do it again until I know which one is better

Mina - Sorry about your car problems. My car is 17 years old and I love it, but every 2 years I have to get an emission test to renew my license plates, never a problem and it only costs around $35,00. Hope your situation works out well :X:

I'm with you on the eye check-up. I always have a problem with "which is better #1, #1, #3" but thank goodness my doctor is patient with me and repeats the chart over and over. You better go back and have your glasses changed, I'm sure they cost a fortune and you want to be able to see clearly.

Jill: I love that cartoon. I am a big fan of both eagles and condors so fully appreciate that people now want to see both. Eagles are much more active though and more entertaining to watch I admit.

Sandie: What a very sad situation. Even though your cousin cried talking to you I'm sure it helped to know you were there to give her emotional support. Hope she can pursue some of Penny's suggestions.

Mina sometimes the lab just doesn't grind it correctly. Do you only need them for reading? If so get them from the 99 cent store!! I use them DD uses them and so does Dee!! I'm grateful for my car every time I get in it and it runs. I hope the gas cap is the culprit :X:

I just spoke to Susan again today and she told me that Ted's best friends got together and had his remains cremated and had her buried at the Veterans cemetery with a nice service for both. So i'm grateful for that! Poor baby needs hernia surgery and she tore a ligament in her arm that needs to be repaired. She applied for disability in Hawaii but then moved here and she needs to reapply. She really likes to work so this is driving her crazy. At least her husband can work and she is getting food stamps. She is going to file suit against who she can she said. So I'm grateful that she has her wits about her.
