Penny do you feel alone here??? I guess this will be a quiet week due to Thanksgiving. Chiquita maybe that is why they invented holidays to give us the guilt we need to REALLY CLEAN My philosophy is our relatives do the same thing except we get the guilt cause it's at our house. Clean AFTER everyone is gone. Don't you do that then anyway??? As I say this I am dusting UNDER things I found a couple of pictures that I posted last night. I knew my Daddy was a good looking man but realized it more when I found a younger picture of him I forgot I had. Among the things that are missing are letters I received from him. I would take them out and read them every few months. I went to go look for them after I heard about my Aunt and cousin and I can't find them. They bulldozed her house and never let her daughter go in and get her personal items.....like pictures
How can people be THAT cruel ? Those are such important pieces of our lives. My Daddy was an orphan and when he got together with Auntie and me he finally felt like he was a part of a family. He drank himself into such depression when Auntie left him I feel he died of a broken heart. I miss him even after fifty six years. |

Budweiser has chosen to eliminate the Clydesdale horses as a marketing feature. They have decided to target the 21-27 yr. olds in an attempt to halt a slide in sales so, suggesting that the Clydesdale ads are outdated, they plan to update their ads. IMHO, the Clydesdales have nothing to do with their drop in sales...it's their beer. That age group is into the micro brews. I'm really sad about this...I think the new company is making a mistake. Sandie...sorry you have lost these family treasures. I'm lucky in that I have many diaries and letters...some 100 yrs. old. From what I'm told kids are no longer taught longhand...beautiful to see my grandmother's letters written in cursive, plus some of her school papers where she is practicing the letters...in ink!!! Chiquita, when I learned to write in ink, I had to use a straight wooden pen that had a metal point stuck into the end. I found it really difficult to make my writing look nice using that thing and was so happy to later be allowed to use a fountain pen. Does anyone remember those? The fountain pen had a little lever on the side. You dipped the pen in the bottle of ink and when you pulled out the lever and then released it, it sucked the ink into the pen. I always had ink all over my hands. The early ball point pens were horrible. They skipped ink all the time and we weren't allowed to use them in school. My mother too had beautiful handwriting. She made fancy cursive capital letters. I could always tell if she had written something because of her beautiful penmanship. (Remember penmanship lessons in school and those little books that had guidelines showing you how to make the letters?) My daughter was not taught cursive in school. And she still has a hard time reading it. Too bad, I think. Hi, Sandie and Penny

Hi There....Getting Closer....![]() I did bake the other Cranberry/Orange Bread recipe (posted on Exhange)....that I was curious about....the one with the chopped apple, and other added ingredients that looked interesting. I have not tasted it yet....just came out the oven...has to cool for awhile more. It makes two loaves...8x4 inch pans....will report later on the results. SANDIE...Loved the you posted. Awwwww....Wendy, the Flower Girl. LAURIE....Very excited for you that you are flying over next Monday and tour on Tuesday. Maria is such a sweetheart and will give you and DH a lovely tour. Be sure to say hello to Misses Hydi and Pimu for us all. CAROLE... with the Doc today...hope he schedules the "scope zap" ASAP! Our forecast for the week is pretty warm...who knows, we may be having our Thanksgiving Feast on the deck. Many years ago it warm like this and that is exactly what we did then. Did feel somewhat strange, but it was fun too.. |

Good Late Morning Chat Friends! Hi Penny, (lovely wolf), Sandie, Mina, and Chiquita, and Karen. I hope Carole, is feeling better. I had my yearly Mammorgram early this morning, that's why I'm late in posting, but this week has been quieter than usual. |

Chiquita, that is sad news about the Clydesdale horses. Sandie, you inspired me to dig around the house (not quite ready, though) to look for pictures of my Dad and maybe post them. Since I've been gone all morning, I've got some things to do around this place.

![]() This is where you can tell we all look (and sound) so much alike l-r is the Auntie that raised me. Aunt Billie Aunt Frances (my namesake) my Grandmother and Aunt Ruby( my other namesake) then me in front with my Great Grandmother Callie Knox. She had one boy but he never seems to appear in many of the group shots. All those women in the top row were all in a circus act

I fondly remember penmanship class... first it was learning to print our letters, Upper and Lower Case on the lined paper. That was First Grade. Next came Cursive....I remember--first there were all the excecises of doing o's, t's, etc. ..... then going to each letter written properly and then connecting letters to make words. My teacher was very firm about writing with a flow and neatness....I thank her to this day. She had us do it over and over again till she found our writing acceptable. Good Grief...the way things are now with all the techie stuff ....even conversing orally with people is becoming passe.

Hi Cindy. Is it HOT where you are? It sure is here with the winds.Life under the ruler We had to sit at our desks with the nuns walking around slapping her ruler in the palm of her hand. If our handwriting didn't look just perfect we got wrapped on the knuckles with the ruler!!!Marsha would love to see pics of your family too!!! I have been sending lots of pics to my new found relative that has been trying to research my line in the family. We spoke for two hours last night. I have a bazillion pictures with people I didn't know in them but had family I recognized. She helped with the pieces Had my mamo done a couple of weeks ago. They are using a nice soft cushion on the platforms now.....made it a bit easier. Not quite as painful. Karen I'm anxious to hear how the bread was!!! Chiquita you are absolutely right about kids today are drinking all the new beers out there. Has nothing to do with those beautiful horses. I love seeing them. Always have. Sasha!!!
