Jill, thank you for the Yosemite video yesterday. I have never see Frazile ice. However, I have been in Yosemite in mid-November when nights are already very cold and the falls freeze. We were walking in the very early morning when the sun first hits the canyon rim and the ice starts to melt. It is like someone is turning on a faucet very slowly. The water begins to flow and the sound level increases. It was pretty amazing. Only my friend and I were there to experience it. No one else was outside that early. I want to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. It is going to be beautiful here in western Colorado. There is snow on the ground and the temperature is rising just enough to keep it, yet make it nice to be outside. There were eagles on the river in three places this morning as I drove to work. That always means a day will be special. Kathleen New Castle, Colorado |

Karen, that's beautiful. I want some too! There is a pumpkin-pecan pie sitting on my desk that my boss just brought it. We all got to choose our favorite pies for Thanksgiving! Yummy! There is a new Santa Catalina update posted. What a lot of work to reinstall Two Harbors cameras! Kathleen New Castle, Colorado |

On Sunday, when we took our walk on the trail we enjoy each Fall...I was keeping my eye out for some more Coyote Gourds, as the vine does grow there in several places. I usually pick up a new dried one or two each year. This year I was lucky to find ones that had not dried yet. 2 beautiful green ones and one turning a bright yellow. The Green & Yellow are new..the 2 on the right are completely dried from years past. ![]() Now I do not know what these little gourds are...they are extremely prickly, almost like a cactus...but had to bring some home to add to our collection. The vine was huge. Does anyone know what these are?

KATHLEEN Your weather sounds perfect for Thanksgiving and for cooking. Believe it or not, our forecast is for a high of 80 degrees here at the coast. I foresee a hot kitchen tomorrow...and I am almost certain we will have the First Course and maybe the Main Course on the deck, under the umbrella for shade. I much prefer what you are enjoying. How wonderful to see Eagles on your way to the office...a gifted way to start your day! CAT..Glad you have your laptop back. Sooooo looking forward to your from the infrared camera too, when you have the time to post them. The wildlife loves your yard with all the goodies...and of course your Peanut Man too.

Well, I am joining my son and his wife at their friends' for Thanksgiving and have no idea of the menu. My contribution will be a traditional steamed pudding that my grandmother taught me to make. It uses grated carrots, potatoes, raisins, flour and spices. Everything is mixed and put into a pudding form and steamed for three hours. Tastes like spice cake and is served with a vanilla sauce. My boss gave me a pumpkin-pecan pie also so I am the dessert committee. Last year we had elk steaks for Thanksgiving. My kids are making mashed potatoes and other vegetables. It is a different set of friends this year and I know he is not a hunter so maybe it will be turkey. Whatever, their friends are always fun and they all call me "Mommers" when I attend their events. I think there are three families involved this year. Karen, when we lived in California, the routine for Thanksgiving was to get the turkey into the oven and take the kids to the beach for three hours because it was always too hot at home with the oven going. Grandson just touched down here a couple of minutes ago in San Diego from Boston and granddaughter is due in around noon. Lots of airport runs yesterday and today...already nearly 80 degrees...no one is going to want to go back home!!! Pumpkin pies are out of the oven...will make the cheescake later. Karen...I love apple pie with crumb crust...yours looks so yummy. Such cute little gourds...a nice size to add to a fall arrangement. Carol...Too bad it is so cold where you are. Wish I could transport you out here to enjoy our sunshine and warmth. Chiquita |
