Laurie, you look beautiful! Carole, hope that nasty thing passes very soon! (I'm so envious that you'll get to see the FL eagles.... I could not talk DH into making the 1-2 hour drive )Sandie, did you ever find out more info regarding those deaths in your family???? Most of my Christmas is in place. The new we got last year went up in two shakes, not an all day affair like the old one! Trying those firefly lights outside for the first time. One housing sends out several hundred tiny laser lights that shimmer in the trees. I'm using two...BUT we have a street light too close and it is washing out the color so I'll concentrate them in the back where they will be seen from inside the house....

Carole I was so excited at first when I saw the cardinal pictures. I sorta scratched my head because I thought Karen had posted them I didn't think we had those beautiful birds in California!!Laurie you look so excited. That looks like a lear.....am I right? Hope your trip is a wonderful success and you see lots of our eagles flying around. Linda yes I found out more information. Even found her daughter and was able to speak to her a little. Still no clue about where her sister is. No one will ever know why he committed suicide but it was evident he was responsible for setting the fire and shooting himself. It's all very very sad. My cousin in now homeless and living out of her car with her 19 y/o cat from the fire. Amazing it survived. The new owner bulldozed the house and never allowed her to go into the house and take her personal belongings pictures clothes etc I think that was really a rotten thing to do. Can't help but wonder how they are in the car and being in this weather. It sure is wonderful looking out and seeing the rain and hearing it is sublime. I have my little fireplace on and some music playing (Enya) |

OH CAROLE! Love the photos of your beautiful Cardinals sitting in your trees. Oh, how I do miss seeing them...not blessed with them here along the Coast. Maybe there are in the mountains here...KATIE would know. I snagged your lovely photos and kept one for a screensaver to enjoy for awhile. I just awoke from a short nap, post-lunch...a little "time out" from tree trimming...coming along...taking my time....Christmas Music CD'S sounds heavenly .....it may not be snow to trim the tree by....but I sure do feel cozy with it raining and blustery outdoors. Oh how we needed this Blessing! More to come tonight and tomorrow too. AMETHYST...your new lights sound so pretty....I bet it will look like a wonderland having them shining brightly out in your pretty backyard. |

Kathleen, I've been in either 40 or 41 of the states, but never Colorado. It's on my bucket list. Sandie, that is just so sad about your cousin. Karen, your signature graphics are cute, too. The rain has been light, so far in San Diego. It's suppose to pick up this afternoon. As long as the rest of the Western States and other part of California, are getting the rain, we're good.

Marsha, I first came to Colorado when I was 16 for a visit to the Durango area and the Mesa Verde pueblos and loved the mountains. My son went to college in Fort Collins on the eastern plains of Colorado and worked for a friend there for several years then moved to Vail and the mountains. He met and married a woman from Aspen and they settled in the Glenwood Springs area. Their 5-year-old son is the reason I packed up and left the California coast (Ventura) and moved here to the Colorado Western Slope. We are a long way from Denver and its urban environment. I equate moving here with stepping back in time about 40 years. There is less traffic, less crowding, choices are sometimes limited at the stores, but the beauty of living here makes up for all of it. We have had our first snow fall for the winter and are currently enjoying temperatures that reach into the high 40s in the day time. It will get colder as winter progresses but that's ok, I stay indoor and read or sew when I am not at work. If you ever come to Colorado, please make sure that your drive includes I-70 through Glenwood Canyon. The canyon is breathtaking and the highway was slipped in there with lots of engineering and very little destruction of the natural beauty. We have our own neighborhood eagles and many visit this area during the winter when they vacation from Alaska and colder areas north of here. Kathleen New Castle, Colorado |

A snowy egret just flew past my air space. My landlord said they used to sit in our back yard all the time. Then she added That's why we no longer have koi in the koi pond. The rain has been pretty constant all day here. The leaves on the trees are so happy with clean freshness. I put a couple of my house plants outside too. They said we have had 1 and 1/2 inces of rain so far. With more to come!!! |

Kathleen, Marsha, Cat, Sandie & Karen Glad you enjoyed my cardinals. They are even prettier when there is snow, the bright red against the white background is beautiful. Today I saw about 4 pairs of them just flying from tree to tree in our backyard. |

Sandie, that is such a sad story about your family members, hopefully is our cousin seeking help... there's plenty out there... on a brighter note, your landlord seems to be one of the best... you are lucky to have found this cozy new home!

Sandie that was a Pilatus. Very comfortable. Everyone I have a video of K-46 getting some fish from Maria! Video: K-46 getting her dinner [I don't know what that clicking sound is. Perhaps it didn't upload properly? I can try again when I'm home with a proper connection.] |

That's amazing Laurie. K-46 knows she's the bigger bird and the raven is just a little annoyance. Hope you've been having a wonderful trip. (By the way, you look so good and happy at/in the plane.) |
