Lastly, before I get ready for church, I want to post, that I went to LA to see my Mom. She had a massive stroke on Tuesday afternoon. It is just hearbreaking for my sister and I, to watch her like this, but I know some of you have gone through this, too. This was the last thing she would have wanted in the world. The stroke occurred on her left temporal side of brain, affecting her right side. She cannot talk at all. Friday, she slept most of the day and was quite unresponsive. Yesterday, her (the) grandchildren started arriving to see her.
WHAT A NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE! She was smiling and looking into their faces. Please just pray for her.

Sandie - Definitely get KeeKee chipped. This is the Buddy Belt I have always used on my dogs. As Penny said, it doesn't choke them and is very safe. I highly recommend it.

Our newspaper did an excellent pictorial today about the SHIPS AT PEARL HARBOR ON DECEMBER 7, 1941. What surprised me was how many of the ships were actually repaired and sent back into action to fight all thru WWII as quickly as the February of 1942 on thru 1944.

Here is the list....

OF THE BATTLESHIPS: The primary targets for the Japaneses pilots on Dec. 7, 1941, were aircraft carriers and battleships. Fortunately , the Aircraft Carriers homeported at Pearl were out to sea that day...the Lexington and the Enterprise.

BATTLESHIPS RESTORED, SOME WITH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE..STILL WENT ON TO FIGHT MOSTLY IN THE PACIFIC FRONT:

CALIFORNIA ......105 Killed....refloated, repaired, returned to Service ... May 1944
MARYLAND.......... 4 Killed.. repaired, returned to Service.... Feb. 1942
NEVADA.......... .... 57 Killed....refloated, repaired, returned to Service.....May 1942
PENNSYLVANIA......24 Killed... repaired, returned to Service.....March 1942
TENNESSEE........... 5 Killed repaired, returned to Service.....Feb. 1942
WEST VIRGINIA....106 Killed....refloated, repaired,returned to Service

BATTLESHIPS...TOTAL LOSS:
ARIZONA........ 1177 Killed...NOW THE NATIONAL MONUMENT
OKLAHOMA..... 429 Killed

CRUISERS

HELENA.......34 Killed...repaired...returned to service in 1942...She was sunk July 1943
RALEIGH........0 Killed...repaired...returned to service July 1942
CURTISS.......21Killed..repaired...returned to service to Pearl Harbor fought in Okinawa

DESTROYERS
Of the 30 Destroyers in the harbor that day, 3 took heavy damage. In addition, one minesweeper, one repair ship, a seaplane tender, a harbor tug and a floating drydock were damaged. All were put back in Service by August 1942.

DESTROYER - CASSIN... ... 0 Killed ..repaired...returned to service.... Feb. 1944
DESTROYER - DOWNES....12 Killed...repaired...returned to service.... Nov.1943
DESTROYER - SHAW........24 Killed...repaired...returned to service....August 1943
