While DH and I were enjoying a late lunch and watching all the birds, mostly quail, in the yard, a large Coopers Hawk landed on the wall. Boy, did everyone scatter!! The two squirrels took cover, too. As far as we could tell, the hawk did not get her dinner from our yard. :)^

Hi Peeps,

Happy Sunday.

Sandie, I too highly recommend that you get keekee chipped right away. It is standard practice at all the shelters to chip animals before they are released for adoption. Both my cats are chipped. I also am happy to see others recommending a harness leash instead of a neck leash. I hate to hear dogs choking on a neck leash. She sure is a cutie and is definitely going to keep you on your toes. Someday I may get one of those kind of dogs too. Or a greyhound. Or a jack russell.

Marsha, so very sorry to hear about your mom. Sending prayers to your mom, you and your family. I hope you see improvement each day.

Karen, your decorations are so beautiful. I try to emulate you, but just never seem to achieve the same sense of elegance that you do.

I also have the straw critters from Pier1 (Love Pier1). I'm not feeling very festive this year so I don't think I'm going to get out my decorations. Here are my critters:

Laurie, I am aware that the doctor's have given you a few months. You have been such a special addition to this group and I am sincerely heartbroken for you and your husband. :Hugs:

Today is food prep day and its going to be a long day. For breakfast I made banana pancakes. There are lots of versions of it out there and I was trying one. I didn't like them, but will keep trying others until I find one I like. For the first half of the week I'm making a veggie & egg casserole, lemony pom-kale salad, fall power bowls (brown rice, tahini, kale, mushrooms, baby arugula) with a spicy tomato jam, asian beef stir fry, tarragon potato soup, and I'm roasting butternut squash w/brussel sprouts, asparagus & broccoli. In my weight loss group we are doing a challenge to eat 100% clean whole foods for the next 21 days.

Mid-week I'm going to make that turkey in the crockpot that is Karen's recipe. Can't wait for that! I'm going to add that turkey to a pad thai, and other dishes.

Lily's former babysitter found a cartoon of a little girl that looks just like Lily tearing off her clothes as soon as she walks in the door to home. That is exactly how Lily is. I put little pics of nearly naked Lily surrounding the cartoon and having it made into a photo pillow for Lily. Can't wait to see how it turns out! Here is the pic:

Gosh Praline I think your assemblage of festivity is just as lovely as every one has displayed. Smoochie face should join a colony of people that like to livee like that.

Boy how can something so teeny cause such exhaustion?????

I bought one of those rotary chickens from Costco and now I have it on the stove for chicken soup. That is if little KeeKee lets me rofl

Awh Carol I'm sorry you feel you no longer can drive at night. I'm starting to feel a little like the same. So far so good now with my new glasses. They have a great coating that keeps the reflection down. That seems to really help. Glad you had a bird at MCR!

Thank you everybody for your kind words and prayers. Now, as other people are finding out, the phone has been ringing and I've been texting with my sister, Karen. I just don't want her to suffer. She always said no heroics for her, but she is breathing on her own, and since she is swallowing, too, Hospice has been put on the back burner, even if it's just for a bit. Tomorrow, Karen, will be meeting with Hospice, just to see what they say, and I'll probably go back up on Tuesday. :Hugs: <3 <3 <3

Praline that is such a special gift idea to give to Lily :)^ Those are the kinds of things that will always be remembered because they are so unique and personal :><: :><: :><:

Your critters look so charming arranged on your table too :D

Sandie that is a very cute ID for KeeKee and such a great colour too :P

Carol night driving becomes a problem as we age and especially in the winter when road edges and traffic lines are obscured. Be safe and don't take any unnecessary chances. Glad you saw the MCR :<<o>>: today :ok:

I was in Hawaii on Dec 7th and several survivors were gathered around the Arizona. It was a very inspiring and moving experience to listen to them. Very traumatic experience for everyone involved. EERie experience on base to see all the bullet holes in the walls of the base. Sends shivers up my spine remembering.

All this training is really paying off. Tonight KeeKee actually went to the back door and sat down waiting for me to see she wanted to go out. And now she runs to her spot and relieves herself almost immediately. I'm absolutely amazed. It's rewarding to see her doing this so quickly. >O< :><: WOO HOO!!!!! >O<
