Since I have dialysis tomorrow because of the holiday this week, DH and I have to get all our errands done today. I hate it when my schedule is changed! This week will be dialysis on Sunday, Tuesday, Friday. The following week will be the same. :(

Anyway, BBL :}^

Cat you are going shopping on the most crowded day of the year :o Hope you don't have to wait in too many long lines :X:

It is a very dull overcast day here with with freezing :rn: making the roads very treacherous. We are almost at the high of -2C/29F but everything is covered with a layer of ice including the sidewalks and bannisters...I almost went for a header taking Siobhan out this morning  Still its better than the usual very low temps and the bunnies like it too, they were doing the mating dance all over my backyard last night. Maybe they got confused and thought it was Spring :P

We are going to Hanukkah dinner at our synagogue tonight. It should be fantastic because it always is :D

They are having another one on Christmas Day which will be kosher Chinese food catered by Desserts Plus, the best one in our city. We'll spend the day with Mom and since the Shul is 5 minutes away from her it will be easy to get to. The best part is that I don't have to prepare all these big meals over the holidays :)^

SANDIE...KEEKEE is such a good girl...using the litter box...having a little doggie does have its advantages. :ok:

Just back from getting a hair trim...now lots of chores to get done...the usual Saturday ones plus more getting ready for Christmas....I want to have everything done by tomorrow night...so when Michelle and John get here Monday A.M. at L.A. Airport...we all are just ready to enjoy one another.

I am sooooo looking forward to Christmas Eve....After Christmas Eve Dinner...from about 8:00pm on...DH and I always have all the lights out in the house, except Christmas Tree and Candles...then we relax and enjoy lots of Christmas CD's. It will be extra special this year...with Michelle and John being with us for the Peacefulness of Christmas Eve.

Hmmmm, Maybe a 15yr old boy will not find it so. I won't be upset if he finds this "boring" and does not stay with us very long by the tree though. He may want to go to his room and be on his gadgets. We shall see.

Just checking in. I've already been to a funeral this morning of a 97-year-old woman. My daughter and her great-grandson have been very close friends since they were 7 and DD thought of her as her great-grandmother, too. The funeral was at a cute little chapel at Forest Lawn, the only bad things being a long walk up a hill and two sets of steps followed by hard wooden seats. Yikes!

This afternoon I am supposed to attend a retirement party (more steps...groan!), a poetry group party (I think I won't go) and finally, at 6, choir rehearsal for the big 6-part Christmas music tomorrow. I'm getting too old for all this stuff in one day!

Ginn has been tentatively diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a rare but serious congenital disease affecting the connective tissue. We have been so frustrated because the clinic that treats it just won't call us back. Finally, we turned to our psychiatrist, a magic man whom we haven't seen in some years, but who was trained as a surgeon and is very knowledgeable about many conditions. He is going to try to contact the clinic for us. He also was happy to do an excellent job of filling in paperwork to apply for disability with the insurance company. What a wonderful man he is. Our stress level dropped many points after seeing him.

Ginn is scheduled to fly back to Maryland on Tuesday, so I guess I will be spending Christmas by myself. It's been great having her here for two weeks, though.

Home at last. :D We had to stop at the drug store - not crowded. Only needed a few things at the grocery store and it wasn't crowded either!

EmeraldSkye/Laurie, you are such a strong and beautiful spirit; a very bright light in this world will be extinguished when you leave this earth.
I wish you peace, you already have love!
You make me realize that life can be amazing no matter how much we have left... most of us are unaware of what remains... we should all do as you have done and make the best life we're able to while we can!!!
Thank you for coming into this chat and sharing your light and strength with us <3!!!

Karen this will be such a blessed time for all of you. Too bad they can't fly into john wayne airport.....wouldn't that be closer than LAX? Lot less traffic too. Are you picking them up? Yes I suspect a little lights out will be enough for him but I bet he will love a little of it! All sounds very peaceful. Glad you will get everything done ahead of time. That's perfect.

Linda DITTO on everything you said. Laurie has become a sweet addition to our family here and no one will ever take her place in our hearts and minds. Just like our loved Betty. I think a lot about my hippie sister :D

Cat I know these changes are hard on you. Wish there was another way to get it done. Glad there wasn't a lot of long lines for you. I am not planning on going out except to church and get Akeelah's second set of shots.

Mina if you'd like to get away for Christmas come up here. I'm not going to cook but we could go out to eat somewhere. Wasn't that terrific that the Dr. was able to get all your paperwork filled out. Hope he can get the clinic to contact you!!

Back pain is not nearly as bad today. I didn't have to take a pain pill YET! Just lots of ice. :8O: I hate ice especially when it's cold already!

MINA..Glad you got some assistance Ginn's paper work, etc. A stress relief for sure! The weather is supposed to be lovely all this week...maybe you can SANDIE up on her suggestion to spend part of Christmas Day with her and still get home by dark? I don't know how long a drive it would be for you.

SANDIE...Yes, John Wayne Airport is just 20 min. from us..they flew to it this past summer.....but we suggested for them to fly here NON-STOP...due to winter weather..otherwise they would have a lay-over in Denver. Too "iffy" in winter, let alone the Holidays crush. LAX was the only option or San Diego. I did see in the newspaper this week though that Southwest Airlines is starting Non-stop service to and from Austin to John Wayne in June. Yes, we are picking them up. we will leave home 7:00am on Mon to head up there...

We had a wonderful day today, Alan, Jeremy and I played golf and the weather was perfect.

When we came home we were talking to our neighbours in the driveway and a magnificent Bald Eagle flew over the pond chasing a flock of birds, and then flew back and out of sight :<<o>>: >O<

Carole WOO HOO >O< great site to see. better than pond critters rofl An eagle sighting is the bestest. Unless you are right under them as they decide to "poop" but that would be an anointing....right?? Good golf game?

OIC Karen. Yes no lay overs is a better deal all the way around. That early in the am wont be as bad as later in the afternoon with all the crush of travelers. Good time to just take your time and get there when you get there. :><: No need to rush and plenty of time to enjoy conversation etc before getting home.

I'm going to attempt some banana bread I think. If I can stand long enough to get it done. I've relaxed somewhat from constant watching the behind!!! I hate using the crate but I guess its a good thing especially in the future! Last night was hysterical all the lights out inside just TV on and she could see her reflection in the sliding glass door. Bark bark bark at herself. Too funny.

Lala have you been back to the lake? What's up with our eagles at the lake. Tree still standing?
