LOL too bad we are not polar bears!!! Penny don't count on a prompt answer to anything these days with everyone. They get to things when they get to them. Nothing we think is important is important to them. Used to we could pick up the phone and actually talk to someone. Marsha so sorry I didn't know you had a "something" you were concerned with for your mammogram. Glad it turned out ok but seems like they should have done a follow up sooner but I'm not sure when they found anything before. I think they will keep and pay for your mom staying where she is for a little while longer! Lets hope she continues to get better. Welcome back Deb. I kinda followed what was going on with you on facebook. I don't go there a lot but I knew you were coming home soon and would share stuff with us here. Glad you had a nice time. ---- I was looking toward the mountains this morning and it was kinda cold looking but now it looks a lot colder with a huge cloud forming over the back yard. I have to go out a couple of times today to the doctor etc. I hope it doesn't rain while i'm out there!!! I watched the kitty that came to visit us yesterday and found a loose board in the fence that it was able to come thru. I'll have to fix that so my little white lightening girl can't get thru there. Especially if the kitty comes to visit again and she chases it!! |

I posted this earlier but got distracted and had to leave without hitting the "add reply" and posting the above!!! I'm in whole bunch of pain today. This cold weather is really getting to me. Guess I'll have to go back to pt because the pelvis and arm and back and knee are just growling with pain  Chiquita that a long trip. Especially 600 miles the first day. Hope the snow does not slow him down too much. I went to a vet today to check him out. He was on vacation but I liked his staff. I'll go back to meet him. I weighed her while I was there. She weighs 7.1 pounds. I knew she had gained some just wasn't sure how much. Everyone thinks she is a Maltese. They are astonished when I tell them what she is and they feel her coat. Deb it was your birthday!!!! I hope it was wonderful. Did I read right that he got you a watch? That's really nice.

Sandie, Aren't you glad I ate a couple of those mint bark candies while I was there to save you from yourself?! Good thing that stuff's not available all year! Belated Happy Birthday, Deb. Glad you had a good holiday trip. Love the new watch. ES is such a sweetie! Marsha and Penny, sending good thoughts for your mothers. I remember how hard it was when my mom was ill and I was so far away. You both are such good daughters. Karen, you are so organized! I usually leave the Christmas decorations up at least through DD's birthday, which is January 6th. Of course, this year, the only decorations are a big red bow on the door and two tiny ceramic Christmas trees. Guess I shouldn't have any trouble putting them away by myself. Carole, thanks as usual for the pictures of the and the pond critters. I love to see them. Of course, I'd rather see them in person. Maybe one of these days...Condolences to Cat on losing your friend Bobbie. It's never easy to lose a good friend. |

We have been speaking to the Executive Assistant to the Health Minister about what happened on the weekend. My Mom also missed her med on Friday. Apparently none of the people who were on the task sheet of the missing worker got the meds they were supposed to get for the times she was scheduled on both Friday and Saturday. We are not going to let that happen again if we can help it. Their “rules” have to get changed immediately and if they aren’t, we are going to get political. Allan has lots of experience in that regard. He’s going to be a dog on a bone on this issue especially because we both might find ourselves in a similar situation down the road. We already have the name of their new Programming Director who is the one who will have to make the changes. Just got off the phone with the Director of the Regional Health Authority for this area…she had been called by the Ministers office and she is already making some changes to make sure Mom does not miss any more medications. They are making her a 'Priority 1' so even the After Hours knows she has to given services even if people don't show up. The you-know-what has hit the because I've had from at least 3 other people since I got off the call with the Regional Director. They are all "making sure that does not happen again" !!! At least I feel a little more comfortable about leaving now  There is so much flu going around here, people are flooding the emergencies. Apparently the flu shot is ineffective against this particular strain We are praying Mom doesn’t come down with anything while we are away as other similar facilities have so many people sick in them. This is a big problem and the reason why the Home Care workers are getting too. Nobody even wants them to come to work if they are ill either |

Penny I'm glad Allan is good at the political machine. Most people are not comfortable with making waves. This is just something that should never happen. Believe me the squeaky wheel gets the attention. And the people in these care facilities especially know they better take care of the ones there that have families that speak up. Lots of older folks just don't want to rock the boat and they keep quiet. Well not me!!!! Nor does any of my loved ones. Mina you are too kind!!! Saving me from myself. Thank you so much. Be sure and let us know what the Dr's in Maryland/DC neck of the woods think about Gen's diagnosis. I hope they can help her back there.

Oh boy, I'm on my sister and BIL's computer. You know what? It's cold!!!!!!!! How do you East Coaster's do it? I was with my Mom for almost 4 hours then I wanted to get settled into my sister's house and unpack before the big rain. |

Hi, Marsha, The East Coasters heat their houses alot better than we do here in SoCal and they have warmer things to wear when they go out in the cold. I remember when I moved out here I was surprised how cold I felt in the winter. Back in Maryland, we'd just sit by the fire or turn up the big furnace. Of course, their heating bills are awful. Sandie, yes, it just started to rain, just as I was ready to go out to the market. Aargh! I didn't feel the earthquake. Yuck. I'm sorry you're in so much pain. Weather like this just seems to make all the aches and pains worse. I'm sending you WARM hugs and lovies. Lovies help, you know. Penny, I hope everything is OK with your mom while you are gone and you don't have to be worrying about her every minute. Better go. The cat is INSISTING on walking on my keyboard.

Mina, you know what? You're right, but right now it's a big wind!!!!!! I can't believe how hard the wind is blowing. At least we're getting snow in the mountains from this Arctic storm. I brought stuff to do at Karen's but it not the same as your own home. I'll do some work on another fleece blanket. Sandie, there was this nodule that looked suspicious, but my schedule has been crazy. I've been coming to see my Mom and staying with Karen and Paul, almost 3-5 just about every week since December 2. Then the other days I was with SIL, Pauline. This has happened to me before, because I'm errrrrrrr hmmmm sort of fleshy.
