Beautiful poem, minacat. It is one of my favorites and so perfect at this time. Thank you, lala, for posting the photo of Laurie again; she was beautiful inside and out. I would love to, but am unable to, drive up to San Jose for the service. My chamber orchestra will be performing that weekend. Two of the pieces we'll play (and which are being sung by a tenor) are perfect for the occasion and I will dedicate them to Laurie and David as I play (violin): the Ave Maria by Schubert, and Che faro senza Euridice by Gluck. The latter piece is sung by Orfeo mourning the passing of his beautiful Euridice.
Today is a cool drizzly day. Even the sky is crying.

Beautiful poem MINA. I awoke with LAURIE on my mind and thoughts of her have been with me all day. My heart breaks for DAVID, and her Mother and Father ....and to read her brother also preceded Laurie as well...so much heartaches for parents to have to bear.

This has been a difficult day. Of all the people on our forum, I don't know if I ever posted to Laurie more than twice..... Yet, it is breaking my heart. I somehow thought she just might beat this thing. If anyone could, it had to be Laurie. To David, you were her knight in shining armor, and her family, you were her angels. God bless you! Laurie, we will never forget you. You changed all those whose hearts you touched, and we are all the better for it. ---------------

Hi Carol, I hope you don't have to drive around much in the next two or three days. You will be getting freezing rain tomorrow and ice on Monday! When we went back to West Virginia to visit relatives a few years back, I had a melt down (no pun intended) just driving in snow! Aaaaaaaaa! Be careful my friend!! --- ![]() It has been sooooo cold here the last few days! We are used to HOT weather. Near freezing temps we are not equipped for.

A quick hello. Ater 27 hours we are finally in Santiago...minus our luggage. We are not surprised after all the traveling around. Maybe tomorrow afternoon it will arrive. we are adjusting to warm weather and long days. It still was not completely dark at 9:30. a lovely evening to stroll around and people watch. Such fun while we ate at a sidewalk cafe. Tomorrow we are going to do the "hop on hop off" bus to see as much as possible now that we only have one day. Time for bed.

Oh no Mina, you are not talking to yourself. I just got back around 6:00 from visiting my Mom today. I truly wish I could go up for Laurie's memorial service. And thank you for posting for Sandie. At least now we know, so we won't be so worried. My plate is still pretty full. Pauline's funeral/memorial service and luncheon, will be on Thursday, up in Whittier at Rose Hills Memorial Park. Everything is pretty much arranged, hubby just has to talk to the florist one more time about the casket flowers and the standing heart that will be from Michael, Allison, and Sarah. Going back to Laurie, such a young and vibrant woman. This is truly sad and heartbreaking.
Kathie, I would love to hear you play the violin in memory and honor of David and Laurie. Could you post a recording somehow?

We've seen our son Jason twice today on the Dodge Ram commercial that he filmed in Ventura... They always play it during the football games. He's always walking away from the camera, wearing an orange (safety) vest.. with a set of plans in his hands... always shown from the back as he walks downstairs and outside and gets into a dark Dodge Ram Truck... That's my boy!!! |

I was so saddened to read that Laurie has left us. She was an amazing woman, and such a huge inspiration. If anyone could have beaten that horrible disease, it would have been Laurie. My thought and prayers are with David and the rest of her family. The first few days of January have brought so much sadness. Lala's beautiful mom, Marsha's SIL Pauline, Laurie, and a local friend's father passed away suddenly on Thursday. I have been feeling so down all day. |
