This is Sunday my friends Coton. This is what Akeelah will look like when she "grows" up. I don't think anyone will mistake her for a Maltese then!!!

Oh Sandie, your little doggy is so cute and will be when she grows up. My mother had several Maltese over the years and I must say it looks just the same to me. Yes, puppies like trash and shoes. I have always gotten in the habit of putting my bathroom trash container on top of the counter. I'm still wearing socks with holes from where previous puppies chewed them. And I can't tell you how many watch straps I had to replace that were chewed by puppies grabbing the watch off a bedside table. Katie: I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment of your fantastic southern journey I hope you have your luggage by now and that you have no more incidents. |

Yes, puppies chew, and chew and chew... they have to be watched carefully or put into their crates when you cannot watch them...that's how they get into trouble and end up at the vet's with pennies or socks in their bellies! Keep plenty of doggy chews around for them too... they need to learn good choices! |

I saw a few posts reguarding about Laurie's funeral on Saturday, I will not be able to make it and I was wondering if any of you are going. She was a huge part of supporting IWS. I was able to meet her for the first time this year when about 25 of us went on a boat tour to West End and Two Harbors in August. I'm thankful to meet such wonderful caring people like David & Laurie and I know David would appreciate all of our support. Cat - just saw this on the weather channel here in TX. Was wondering if you saw it (It was somewhere in NM!) Wow! This Was Taken from Earth! Meteorologist Ari Sarsalari explains a phenomenon that occurs when sunlight is refracted through ice crystals, painting this spectacular scene in Red River, NM. You've probably seen a halo, a multi-colored ring around the sun or moon, which is created by refraction, or the bending of light, through ice crystals. (MORE: The Science Behind Halos) One lucky visitor to Red River, New Mexico, recently captured one of the most amazing photos of atmospheric optics you'll see. Sunrise photo of a halo, sun pillar, sun dog, and other optical phenomena in Red River, New Mexico on Jan. 9, 2015. (Joshua Thomas via NWS-Amarillo, Texas) "Among the phenomena in this photo was a 22-degree halo, which includes a sun pillar and a sun dog. Atmospheric optics expert Les Cowley found several other rare features, which the National Weather Service office in La Crosse, Wisconsin, labeled and tweeted over the weekend. "Halos and sun dogs are common. Sun pillars, vertical beams of light extending from the sun, are most common in colder locations around sunrise or sunset because the light reflecting off ice crystals is shaped like plates or columns. The various arcs, resembling segments of halos, are even rarer, according to Cowley, who notes that some of these may be once-in-a-lifetime sight." ![]()
