Hi Deb and Cat.

Deb I feel as tho I missed a lot too with no internet! It's amazing how attached you get to everyone and their lives. I miss it when I'm not here. But you have so little time......

Cat I don't hear you complain much about the cold weather It was 49 here this am. It must be colder where Lala is. I'm glad my house is somewhat insulated. Doesn't it get cold where you are? And also I wondered how you feel about your advisory position. Do you think they listen to you and will change anything. I remember being on the chamber of commerce board. I was serving on the traffic committee. We had one trouble spot that they had engineers and whoooo whooo's from the city at the meeting. They were talking about building a bridge or overpass or by pass etc etc. I said won't a green arrow do the same thing. I thought they would all bust a gut with OH NO!!! Blah blah. But now every time I go by that corner I say there's my GREEN ARROW!!!! LOL

Carol you are so right. The day comes up and smacks you up side the head and all the memories come flooding back. Wish it would come back with all the wonderful things too.

Marti those circles in the sky?? I have never seen anything like that before. I guess because I have never lived in that cold of a place to experience such a thing! :<:: It looks beautiful and wondrous at the same time.

Wasn't Jones incredible last night? I don't know why more quarterback's don't adhere to his willingness to run with the ball if they have the opportunity. But what do I know!!!

Good Tuesday Morning Friends!

Hi Deb, Sandie, and catM!

Not to rub anybody the wrong way :hair: :D , but I heard about the football game, this morning. Didn't get to see any of the game, sounds like Ohio dominated the game!

Marti, great image of that sky near Red River. I have never seen anything quite like that! I have seen the Northern Lights when I lived in the mid west. Very eerie.

Sandie, January is usually our coldest month but compared to so many parts of the country, we have mild weather here. Right now it is about 40F and will go up to about 46F this afternoon. Today most of the state has snow or rain/snow mix. We had some light snow overnight but since the ground is not frozen, it is all gone now. Our mountains do get lots of snow but for many reasons, Albuquerque does not usually get much snow.

The advisory committee on transit for the mobility impaired is both rewarding and frustrating. I think I do bring the much needed perspective of a handicapped person to the committee. Some of the ideas I have put forward have resulted in changes to the system. Most suggestions fall on deaf ears because I am told "That just won't work".

Cat, isn't it funny how they ask people who know what is needed, such as you, to the meetings and then just ignore what you tell them. There have been times that I wish I had been asked what was needed for handicapped people in some situation. Those who haven't experienced it just don't know.

I put off the eye exam until next week because it conflicted with my writing class and since the surgery isn't scheduled until February 11th, it doesn't matter that the exams are next week instead of this. I too have driven with those little cardboard-framed sunglasses. I have been told that this time they schedule two appointments and dilate one eye on each day, so I should have no trouble driving home.

Still wishing I could get up to San Jose for Laurie's service. I haven't heard from anyone who is going. She was such an important part of this forum. I hope somebody can go.

I'm all wrapped up in fuzzy blankets working on my book. Even though I only have a wall heater for my 2-story house, my gas bill was still almost $200 last month. I've been using an electric heater here in the living room to warm up the side of the room where I sit, which is near the front door and the cold air seeps around the cracks. I'm afraid to see the electric bill! The temperature in the room is in the low to mid-60's, but that is too cold for me when I am just sitting. Not bad for the cats, though. They run around a lot and besides, they have fur coats!

Marti, that picture of the sky from Red River was spectacular. I'd love to see something like that in person.

HAPPY TUESDAY FRIENDS :}^

CONGRATULATIONS TO OHIO STATE!!! :ok:

The entire Ohio State team, at every position, played outstanding game. DH and I are big Oregon Ducks fans, as they play very exciting football, but they were no match for the Buckeyes, on Offense or Defense sides of the ball last night.

laurie rofl oh yeah :)

Cat - I hear ya - ES & I became involved with a camping/property committee some years back and it was interesting that most of the people there, don't camp anymore - aren't directly involved with units, older gentlemen - so had no current idea of what was going on - what troops were looking for and expecting- what scouts needed!
They never went outside of our Council to see what others were offering to see if we were in the same ball park!
After months of "discussion" a few finally got the message we were trying to get across (being year round active campers with our scouts) and changes slowly began ....all our cabins at camp were redone - top to bottom and now fees are more in line with other camps & the facilities are much better and user friendly (especially as to ADA compliance)
Lots of program began to change for the good
It's been a very slow (and still ongoing) process but at least we're finally moving forward

Keep banging on that door and know that you are doing good - even if it's only tiny steps right now :Hugs:
