Good Friday Morning Chat Friends! I read yesterday's posts as I had not read anything since it was a full day with Pauline's Memorial Service and luncheon. And it was a gorgeous day in Los Angeles with an (unsmoggy) sky. And it was lovely service for a lovely person. It was wonderful hearing stories about her from cousins and family, like how she was born in the elevator of White Memorial Hospital. My MIL had them quick!!!!! Woweee, Mina, that butterfly shot for the cover of your poetry book, is just gorgeous! Marti, I also enjoy watching Stellar Jays. They are so comical! That picture is also beautiful, with the other colors captured in it! Sandie, I Great Dane puppy! Egaaaaads. You'll really have your hands full, although it will be for a very worthy cause. Chiquita, I also enjoyed some of Ray Bradbur's Sci Fi writing. I didn't know you were cousins!!! For your loss.

Katie glad you are having a great time. I forget the birds name you said but I have never heard it before. I'll have to look it up! Stay safe! Marsha did they take care of your MIL's appearance? It is nice to hear things that you did not know about loved ones. I am glad you were able to enjoy the day and the fellowship. Chiquita Wasn't Ray Bradbury also involved with Star Trek? It's always sad when people's places are torn down. I remember when I went to Occidental where our family home had been and it was torn down and an apartment house had been erected! I understand the reason but it is a real shock! Maybe another family member has a picture of the house? Bernie and Akeelah came nose to nose the other day. I wish I had taken a picture of it but I was a little shocked! |

HI Sandie! So kind of you to ask. They (the Mortuary told us) they did and we did not want to open the casket yesterday to check. As I told my sister last night, if we had opened it even a bit, people would have started flocking to see what see looked like, even our nieces and newphews, my husband did NOT WANT THAT. Now to Bernie and Akeelah, how did they react to each other? Today, my thoughts are on Laurie. Did David have her service already?

Marsha, the service for Laurie is scheduled in San Jose this Saturday. The details are on the January 9th CHAT. I would have liked to go, but I can't drive that far and don't have the $$$ to fly and rent a car. I haven't heard if anyone else is going or not. Today I need to go out and find some young horses to photograph. The poem that the photo is to illustrate is about them "frolicking" in the field. I don't know how successful I'm going to be at that. If anyone has such a photo (Linda, maybe?), please let me know. It's a lovely day, the sun is shining, and the temperatures today are predicted to be in the 70's and maybe even 80. Couldn't ask for anything better. |

Marsha/Mina I have not heard of anyone going but I am in the same boat Mina as we discussed. It feels so wrong that someone from here isn't there for her. She was a huge part of our lives here. I so miss her.Bernie and Akeelah just looked at each other at first. Then she went running toward him as I picked him up. I think I'll do that under some control maybe. She is just so entertaining with everything she finds to do. Like right now she is running around the table in the living room chasing the other end of her leash. Then she'll put that part in her mouth and just run and run around the table. And she has not peeped on anything in the house for at least a couple of weeks. I know it will happen again sometime but she is really doing good. Mina aren't there some places in or around Pasadena where there might be some frolicking ponies? |

Mina, thank you for answering that question about Laurie's service. Sandie, I understand how you feel, but we live all over the state/country/ and world. It's a tough situation.

Hi cruzers, Happy Friday! I've had a tough week with lots of migraines due to a change in the estrogen level in the patches I wear. My body seems to have acclimated to the change now. I've also had a lot of trouble sleeping so am hoping to catch up on sleep this weekend. SOOO looking forward to this 3 day weekend Hugs to anyone who needs one. Have a great weekend! |

Sandie...Gene Roddenberry was involved with Star Trek. Ray Bradbury was not associated with ST. Ray Bradbury never thought of himself as a SiFi writer, but instead, considered himself a fantasy writer...many of his stories were used on the Twilight Zone. RB died in June 2012...his wife died many years before he did. I know what you mean when you talk about being in shock at seeing an empty lot where once was a family home. That happen to me when I went to visit a relative in VA...the car pulled up and couldn't get my bearings because the big Victorian home had disappeared, sidewalks, trees and the beautiful old home...gone!!! I did find her but it's an eery sensation. Sounds like Akeelah learns quickly and is becoming a wonderful companion. Chiquita |

JA Pilcher who posts here occasionally as PearlBailey is going to Laurie's memorial service on Saturday. I believe she lives in San Pedro. She is more involved with the IWS Eagle Cam FB groups than CHIL but she will be a representative of the eagle folk. JA knew Laurie from the eagle trips one of the IWS FB groups take every year to the Santa Catalina area. I believe Laurie went on two of the trips - this year and last year. |

Chiquita, one of my favorite ofRay Bradbury's stories is The Illustrated Man. You must have seen the short movie about the planet where the sun comes out every ten years (I forgot the time period) and one child cannot wait for that day to come, and misses it, er.... something like that. We saw it long ago on Wonder Works - PBS. Found it - All Summer in a Day |
