You said you were there, too. You flew over to California? I just didn't remember hearing that you were going to go. How sweet was that!
I don't think Marti went to Laurie's memorial Marsha, I think she meant that she was & is also in the grieving mode, like Laurie's family, since her husband passed away last year. |

This is my first post in the Forum, but I just wanted you all to know that David Coleman was truly touched by the many people from the IWS community who expressed their condolences. He told me several times he didn't realize how many people Laurie and her story impacted. Since he wasn't the one connecting on Facebook and here in CHIL, he just had no idea. I met David's brother who lives in Pasadena. He first heard about the Catalina eagles a few years ago on the local news. He told his mom, who lives in Sebastopol, CA, that he thought Laurie would enjoy them, so she passed that info on to Laurie, and that's how it all started for EmeraldSkye and IWS! It was a great story to hear from both Andy and Mrs. Coleman. We also met Laurie's cousin from Michigan who was on the December tour with Laurie and David in the very wet, rainy days of early December. She loved the experience - despite the weather - and said she was so impressed with Maria and work she does. She loved seeing both the Middle Ranch eagles and the eagles in the wild. It was her first and only trip to Catalina...maybe she'll be back another time and experience the island's better weather and beauty. Among the stories about Laurie was a re-occuring theme - she was curious, took the time to learn about whatever the topic was, and 'knew her stuff' about whatever it was. I think that so aptly described her investment in the eagles. She was inquisitive, thoughtful, and knowledgeable about what was going on with the restoration program. Eagles, chickens, gardening...she did it well when she took the plunge! Sandra Hunt-von Arb and I hopefully helped those at the memorial service understand Laurie's connection to the IWS eagles. It was a beautiful celebration of her life and I truly felt honored to be there. PearlBailey/Jean Pichler |

River thank you for that beautiful montage video of Laurie and David on their IWS tour. Really it is so hard to believe how great she looked at a time when her days on this earth were numbered David also posted another video montage of Laurie with pictures from her childhood through the last 10 years. It is posted on her blog. Emerald Skye RIP Laurie We will not forget you

Jean and Sandra Hunt-von Arb for representing the community at Laurie's memorial service, especially since many of us do not do FB and had no way of seeing the photos and posts that were posted there.I'm sure that Laurie was smiling down on her husband and family and friends from above. She will not be forgotten here even though many of us never met her in person. to you for telling us about her service and the background story of how she found the IWS eagles
