Unusual hatching sequence

Dr Sharpe, I'm wondering if you've ever seen a similar circumstance to this in the field, - this red-tailed hawk hatchling seemed to get assistance (either deliberate or by luck) from the adult male, being perhaps stuck to the inner egg membrane. The adult male seems to bite at the membrane to separate the hatchling but fortunately manages to do this without causing excessive bleeding. Have you ever seen anything similar with eaglets?

It looked like the adult was just eating the allantois, which stores waste from the chick, and other waste, and not actually trying to help the chick out of the egg (it already looked like it was free of the egg). The umbilicus did not looked completely sealed, so it starts to bleed as the adult picks at it, and then right before the video cuts off you see some white fluid start to seep from the umbilicus.
