So when are we going to hear what happened to the West End chick? It seems a bit odd that just as the eaglet is brought down from the nest that it suddenly drops dead. I'll withhold my suspicions until the facts are in. |

Ron,A necropsy was performed on the West End chick by the Wildlife Investigations Laboratory of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and it appears the nestling had symptoms of acute septicemia (bacterial infection in the blood), and this was the apparent cause of death. This information was posted on the IWS Facebook page on June 29th and is also posted on the opening post of the daily Nest Observations.
