<::: PLEASE READ

The Nest Observations/Nest Watch thread remains open ... as long as there are cameras ... which are operational ... to watch.

Normally the VCOE and the IWS work on the cam equipment during the fall/winter ... so the cams may go off from time to time ... but we are normally advised by them if they are working in the area.

Just a few Gentle Reminders about posting on this thread. (Helps to save time when reading through it.)

Please remember that it is the CHANNEL ISLANDS NESTS ONLY, either on or off camera, that we post our observations/comments about.

There are FIVE IWS nests with cameras online, so it is important to know WHICH NEST you are observing.

Please put the Initials at the start of your post.

. . .ALL NEST CAMS - http://www.iws.org/interactive_nestchat_allUstream.html
. . .BC = Bald Canyon on San Clemente Island - Temporarily unavailable
:new: FP = Fraser Point - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsB2krxsJwQ
. . .SC = Sauces Canyon (WMP) - http://media1.vcoe.org/eaglecam2 Temporarily unavailable
. . .SC = Sauces Canyon - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHnvyzM0MNc
. . .SC = Sauces Canyon (Explore) - http://explore.org/live-cams/player/sauces-bald-eagle
. . .TH = Two Harbors - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yh1sIcKJkhM
. . .WE = West End - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lLd4fQw8dc

These nests are all in California ... so it's Pacific Time on this coast.

We prefer that the Quote Button is not used on this thread ... and if you must use it ... because you are referring to something on a previous page ... then take TEXT only ... never captures or video.

Thanks!

“A request from Dr. Sharpe”

Eagle Guy,Mar 28 2011
09:34 AM
We are recording the activity at the Two Harbors and West End nests so that we can identify all the prey brought to the nests to calibrate the results of the nest excavations at the end of the season. I'd appreciate if you could continue to report the times that prey are brought to the nest so that later we can go through the recordings more quickly to identify the items. Thanks.

Maybe prey delivery posts could be started with  >>: even if it is a bird or unidentified,  so that we can spot them more easily.

To make it easier for the biologists to see the prey deliveries, please limit the use of the blue fish to prey deliveries only.

Begin your post with the nest initials, followed by the time of delivery & the blue fish.

We are recording prey deliveries at all the online nests, so please continue to use the blue fish for deliveries at any nest.

Thank you!

"We'll be turning off the power system that transmits the TH and WE nest video to the mainland this week for renovations and recharging. The Big Bear system will also be off for a week to recharge."

1:46-7 WE- K01 seemed to alert to the front; then I noticed an eagle (K91) coming from out by the pinnacles--he took off as K91 approached from behind. She landed then took off after him. Now both are on the left peak.

Ed.: I wasn't very observant  ; captures show K91 was out there on the peak the whole time.

K01 waited on the nest while K91 stayed on the peak/1:39-1:45pm--Solo K01
Then K01 took off and K91 came in; then she followed him off to the left peak.

WE
Hi... :}^
K-01 lands on the left peak, K-91 circles the peak and lands on it, K-01 flew off to the nest. K-01 works on the nest for a while. K-01 seems to be alert about something. K-91 flew off from the left peak to the nest. K-01 flew off, when K-91 lands, she followed him to the left peak. st 14:05 flew both off from the left peak. One of the adults lands twice on the left peak again. The adult eagle flew off again in direction of the large peak and some humans, perhaps the crew, could hears from close by.

WE - Cam / 12.14.2016 / K-01 and K-91 switched their positions, something makes them alert.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0Kjg73oeHU

The cam were freezing for me, right after K-91 flew off from the nest, i took this clip again from the archive video, it was a little better.

The TH - cam went also off air, perhaps the crew starts with their work on theses cams?
At 14.31 pm, the cam is back online.
