PLEASE READ The Nest Observations/Nest Watch thread remains open ... as long as there are cameras ... which are operational ... to watch. Normally the VCOE and the IWS work on the cam equipment during the fall/winter ... so the cams may go off from time to time ... but we are normally advised by them if they are working in the area. Just a few Gentle Reminders about posting on this thread. (Helps to save time when reading through it.) Please remember that it is the CHANNEL ISLANDS NESTS ONLY, either on or off camera, that we post our observations/comments about. There are FIVE IWS nests with cameras online, so it is important to know WHICH NEST you are observing. Please put the Initials at the start of your post. . . . ♦ ALL NEST CAMS - http://www.iws.org/interactive_nestchat_allUstream.html . . . ♦ BC = Bald Canyon on San Clemente Island - Temporarily unavailable . . . ♦ FP = Fraser Point - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDEInf3CNh0 . . . ♦ SC = Sauces Canyon (WMP) - http://media1.vcoe.org/eaglecam2 Temporarily unavailable . . . ♦ SC = Sauces Canyon - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHnvyzM0MNc . . . ♦ SC = Sauces Canyon (Explore) - http://explore.org/live-cams/player/sauces-bald-eagle . . . ♦ TH = Two Harbors - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yh1sIcKJkhM . . . ♦ WE = West End - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lLd4fQw8dc These nests are all in California ... so it's Pacific Time on this coast. We prefer that the Quote Button is not used on this thread ... and if you must use it ... because you are referring to something on a previous page ... then take TEXT only ... never captures or video. Thanks! |

“A request from Dr. Sharpe”
To make it easier for the biologists to see the prey deliveries, please limit the use of the blue fish to prey deliveries only. Begin your post with the nest initials, followed by the time of delivery & the blue fish.
Thank you! |

Bringing Forward Posted 12/27/16 on the IWS Facebook page: "We completed camera work at the Catalina nests last week. K01 is on the WE nest this morning and K91 was there yesterday morning. Explore.org should get the cameras online soon. We still have some work to do on the towers that transmit the video around the island and to the mainland, but that is away from the nests and won't cause any disturbance. We only saw an eagle once while working at the Two Harbors nest, which was about 30 minutes before we completed our 4 days of work there. Two eagles were seen in the area a week earlier, but there is no way to tell who they were." "There is currently a bald eagle perched at one of the Two Harbors perch sites. When you have been hearing vocalizations over the past month, this is most likely where it was coming from." |

TH & WE nests From the IWS Institute for Wildlife Studies ''The West End and Two Harbors nests are streaming to the IWS YouTube channel now. They will switch over to Explore.org in the next week or two. Maximum stream quality is currently 720p, but should increase to 1080p once the switch is made and the new relay sites are in place''..http://www.iws.org/interactive_nestchat_allUstream.html Also- from chat- a viewer asked ''how do we watch thru youtube'' Institute for Wildlife Studies Mod ''You just click the YouTube icon in the lower right of the video. However, the internet to the island seems to be down, so the video is off.'' I asked about a time stamp being placed for ease of going back to view a certain time frame. Dr. Sharpe responded: ''I don't think Explore likes to have time stamps on their video and I haven't seen where it is even possible to add a time stamp with the new cameras.'' |
