PLEASE READ The Nest Observations/Nest Watch thread remains open ... as long as there are cameras ... which are operational ... to watch. Normally the VCOE and the IWS work on the cam equipment during the fall/winter ... so the cams may go off from time to time ... but we are normally advised by them if they are working in the area. Just a few Gentle Reminders about posting on this thread. (Helps to save time when reading through it.) Please remember that it is the CHANNEL ISLANDS NESTS ONLY, either on or off camera, that we post our observations/comments about. There are FIVE IWS nests with cameras online, so it is important to know WHICH NEST you are observing. Please put the Initials at the start of your post. . . . ♦ ALL NEST CAMS - http://www.iws.org/interactive_nestchat_allUstream.html . . . ♦ BC = Bald Canyon on San Clemente Island - Temporarily unavailable . . . ♦ FP = Fraser Point - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij3uMPMRrak . . . ♦ SC = Sauces Canyon (WMP) - http://media1.vcoe.org/eaglecam2 Temporarily unavailable . . . ♦ SC = Sauces Canyon - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ftp5UhFJX0 . . . ♦ SC = Sauces Canyon (Explore) - http://explore.org/live-cams/player/sauces-bald-eagle . . . ♦ TH = Two Harbors - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SJYl6eOEwg . . . ♦ WE = West End - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6630LD-bFJc These nests are all in California ... so it's Pacific Time on this coast. We prefer that the Quote Button is not used on this thread ... and if you must use it ... because you are referring to something on a previous page ... then take TEXT only ... never captures or video. Thanks! |

“A request from Dr. Sharpe”
To make it easier for the biologists to see the prey deliveries, please limit the use of the blue fish to prey deliveries only. Begin your post with the nest initials, followed by the time of delivery & the blue fish.
Thank you! |

Bringing Forward Posted 1/21/17 on the IWS Facebook page: "We are having a brief respite from the storms today, so the eagles are enjoying some sun. Rain and clouds should return tomorrow, but they are calling for sun for most of the week, which should recharge the solar system responsible for transmitting the video from Catalina to the mainland." |

From Dr. Sharpe in chat: Institute for Wildlife Studies ''It is raining hard and windy at the Sauces nest. I can log in to the camera, so I don't know why it is not online (one of the problems of giving away control of the cameras). The batteries at Fraser Point need a little sun before it comes on, as do the batteries at the tower above Two Harbors (WE and TH cam transmission). There is a 100% chance of rain through at least 3 pm, so it is unlikely the Catalina cams will come on this morning. The Big Bear computer has been down for two days. I don't know if they are still without power or the computer just wasn't turned back on after a power outage.'' |

Just logged on to check the nests. Wow! Look at the water below the FP nest .. it's really flowing strong with the wind blowing hard down the canyon. Is it normally a river? Thought it was a small pool? ![]() Thanks for bringing that report over from Chat Vicki. |

TH .. Adult on the gnarly tree/bush. Can see a bling on the right wing. K-82? Looks like she is wind-surfing on the branch. |

Pat, we think so much alike. I was just thinking about the PH pair and how much they loved to wind surf! |
