SC. Do you think the egg broke because one eagle stepped on it or because it had a thin shell? How did they clean it up so fast, throw the egg remnants overboard? Their nest was so messy last season with so much debris. Now they are keeping it so clean. When you predicted another egg, how long after mating do they produce eggs?

I don't think the eggs are breaking because a bird is stepping on them. I think there is something wrong with A48's shell production. They will eat the yolk/albumen from inside the egg and/or it absorbs into the nest material. The eggshell quickly breaks down into small pieces in the nest. It generally takes 1-2 days between ovulation and laying an egg.
