PLEASE READ Sad News. The SC nest of ... A-40/m & A-48/f ... had ONE egg ... laid January 31st. Lost February 1st. A second egg was laid on February 3rd. Unfortunately this egg broke a couple of hours later. Cause unknown. Just a few Gentle Reminders about posting on this thread. (Helps to save time when reading through it.) Please remember that it is the CHANNEL ISLANDS NESTS ONLY, either on or off camera, that we post our observations/comments about. There are FIVE IWS nests with cameras online, so it is important to know WHICH NEST you are observing. Please put the Initials at the start of your post. . . . ♦ ALL NEST CAMS - http://www.iws.org/interactive_nestchat_allUstream.html . . . ♦ BC = Bald Canyon on San Clemente Island - Temporarily unavailable . . . ♦ FP = Fraser Point - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij3uMPMRrak . . . ♦ SC = Sauces Canyon (WMP) - http://media1.vcoe.org/eaglecam2 Temporarily unavailable . . . ♦ SC = Sauces Canyon - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ftp5UhFJX0 . . . ♦ SC = Sauces Canyon (Explore) - http://explore.org/live-cams/player/sauces-bald-eagle . . . ♦ TH = Two Harbors - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SJYl6eOEwg . . . ♦ WE = West End - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6630LD-bFJc These nests are all in California ... so it's Pacific Time on this coast. We prefer that the Quote Button is not used on this thread ... and if you must use it ... because you are referring to something on a previous page ... then take TEXT only ... never captures or video. Thanks! |

“A request from Dr. Sharpe”
To make it easier for the biologists to see the prey deliveries, please limit the use of the blue fish to prey deliveries only. Begin your post with the nest initials, followed by the time of delivery & the blue fish.
Thank you! |

Bringing Forward Posted 2/2/17 by Dr. Sharpe on IWS Chat in regard to all the freezing: "Explore is having trouble with their new Cox internet line. They are working with Cox to try to find out what the problem is. I can watch the cameras on a direct link, so it has nothing to do with the cameras.” “They are having problems with their mainland internet connections. Quite annoying." |

Bringing Forward Posted 2/3/17 on the IWS Facebook page: "The Sauces birds laid and lost another egg today. Looking at the history of the nest, it has failed in 5 of the 9 previous nesting attempts, with 2 different males and 3 different females. Male A-28 was present 2008-2011, and the male A-40 from 2012 to present. Female A-02 was present in 2008-2009 and failed both years. Female A-27 was present from 2010 until she was displaced by A-48 in 2013. A-27 was successful every year except 2013, when ravens took the eggs. Female A-48 was unsuccessful in 2014 and 2015, and had two chicks last year. Why the eggs are breaking so quickly with the current pair is hard to say. Unfortunately, we can't get information on potential contaminates from eggshells; only from egg contents." |
