<::: PLEASE READ

Sad News.

The SC nest of ... A-40/m & A-48/f ... had ONE egg ... laid January 31st.
Lost February 1st.
A second egg was laid on February 3rd. Unfortunately this egg broke a couple of hours later. Cause unknown.
A third egg was laid on February 6th. Unfortunately this egg broke a half hour later. Cause unknown.
A fourth egg was laid on February 9th. Unfortunately this egg also broke soon afterwards. Cause unknown.
A fifth egg was laid on February 12th. Unfortunately this egg also broke soon afterwards. Cause unknown.

Just a few Gentle Reminders about posting on this thread. (Helps to save time when reading through it.)

Please remember that it is the CHANNEL ISLANDS NESTS ONLY, either on or off camera, that we post our observations/comments about.

There are FIVE IWS nests with cameras online, so it is important to know WHICH NEST you are observing.

Please put the Initials at the start of your post.

. . .ALL NEST CAMS - http://www.iws.org/interactive_nestchat_allUstream.html
. . .BC = Bald Canyon on San Clemente Island - http://www.ustream.tv/channel/mzGQjgFW5e3
. . . FP = Fraser Point - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_ch00eKUn4 Temporarily unavailable

. . .WE = West End - Temporarily unavailable - See February Catalina Island Update
. . .WE = West End Overlook - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=un3WdPnlOUg

These nests are all in California ... so it's Pacific Time on this coast.

We prefer that the Quote Button is not used on this thread ... and if you must use it ... because you are referring to something on a previous page ... then take TEXT only ... never captures or video.

Thanks!

“A request from Dr. Sharpe”

Eagle Guy,Mar 28 2011

We are recording the activity at the Two Harbors and West End nests so that we can identify all the prey brought to the nests to calibrate the results of the nest excavations at the end of the season. I'd appreciate if you could continue to report the times that prey are brought to the nest so that later we can go through the recordings more quickly to identify the items. Thanks.

Maybe prey delivery posts could be started with  >>: even if it is a bird or unidentified,  so that we can spot them more easily.

To make it easier for the biologists to see the prey deliveries, please limit the use of the blue fish to prey deliveries only.

Begin your post with the nest initials, followed by the time of delivery & the blue fish.

We are recording prey deliveries at all the online nests, so please continue to use the blue fish for deliveries at any nest.

Thank you!

Bringing Forward

Posted by Dr. Sharpe 2/25/17 on IWS Chat:

"I'll try to get out to the Two Harbors tower on Monday and rewire things so that most things are going through my equipment. The Explore equipment just seems to have too many problems and is currently unreachable (has to be manually rebooted on-site)."

A40 flies in from the left front. He turns to the 9 and waits for A48. He turns to the 3 and begins to work in the bowl while he waits

6.12
He turns to the 1, digs, and looks out. Then continues to turn to the 3 again. He digs and watches

6.13
He squats over the bowl and pulls in pieces of fluff, as he keeps watch for A48

6.14
A40 steps out to the 4, looks left and right, then flies to the right front

Good morning!

One of the adult eagles seem to changed his position on the nest.
Posted Image

When I have full screen, it seems that there is a pile of cables down to the left of the nest pinnacle and something bright hanging down from there. It seem the camera equipment were blowing away toward to the left hill area or?

SC 9.38
A48 whines from the tree as A40 eats at 12. Fish is still flapping

9.39
Must be wrong, think it is A40 that is whining. Must be saving the fish for A48 and wants her to come claim it. He moves a branch while he waits. She looks pretty comfy though

9.41
A40 does some fluffing around the fish

9.45
He whines again and looks toward the tree, then looks down at the fish. He moves another branch as he waits for her to come. Then another
