<::: PLEASE READ

The Nest Observations/Nest Watch thread remains open...as long as there are cameras...which are operational...to watch.

Normally the VCOE and the IWS work on the cam equipment during the fall/winter...so the cams may go off from time to time...but we are normally advised by them if they are working in the area.

Times of events/changes on a nest are a great help to those of us who video when we are editing the footage.

Just a few Gentle Reminders about posting on this thread. (Helps to save time when reading through it.)

Please remember that it is the CHANNEL ISLANDS NESTS ONLY, either on or off camera, that we post our observations/comments about.

There are FIVE IWS nests with cameras online, so it is important to know WHICH NEST you are observing.

Please put the Initials at the start of your post.

These nests are all in California...so it's Pacific Time on this coast.

We prefer that the Quote Button is not used on this thread...and if you must use it...because you are referring to something on a previous page...then take TEXT only...never captures or video.

Thanks!

“A request from Dr. Sharpe”

We are recording the activity at the Two Harbors and West End nests so that we can identify all the prey brought to the nests to calibrate the results of the nest excavations at the end of the season. I'd appreciate if you could continue to report the times that prey are brought to the nest so that later we can go through the recordings more quickly to identify the items. Thanks.

Maybe prey delivery posts could be started with  >>: even if it is a bird or unidentified,  so that we can spot them more easily.

To make it easier for the biologists to see the prey deliveries, please limit the use of the blue fish to prey deliveries only.

Begin your post with the nest initials, followed by the time of delivery & the blue fish.

We are recording prey deliveries at all the online nests, so please continue to use the blue fish for deliveries at any nest.

Thank you!

Good morning!
K-91 seems to upset about something. One adult eagle flew to the left and in direction og the peaks, short after lands K-91 on the nest and trumpets out. The other adult flew from the left circles the lef peak area and lands on the small rock / Wrays rock. K-91 whines a lot, K-01 could hears too. K-91 flew off and the adult on Wray's rock too, they flew behind the hill side. It looked to me like K-91 were chasing the other eagle or?

I hope the video link works. I have to leave at 8:30 AM, I will record until there and send a video later, if something happens around the nest in the next 45 minutes.

I wish everyone a Happy and Healthy and Peaceful new Year! :}^

WE - 8:25AM - Sort of a bonding. K-01 stopped mid-way ad just sat on K-91.
K-91 didn't take real kindly to that and told him to get off & seemed to scold him afterwards.

WE .. checking through the video to get some captures I thought I saw a bling on the left wing of the adult that flew in and landed on Wray's rock.

K-91 appeared to alert to something below the nest on the right before taking off at 7:21am and the adult perched on the rock took off at the same time. May have been K-01 .. unsure.

Looks like a bling to me on the left wing.

6:38am. K-91 arrives and starts to call and trumpet.
Posted Image

6:39am.
Posted Image

Posted Image

7:29am. K-91 returns from the right lands on the nest rock.
Posted Image

8:11am. K-91 starts to trumpet as she tracks to the right.
Posted Image

K-01 arrives from the right and he too is on the defensive. Calls and tails shaking.
Posted Image

8:12am. K-01 is quite agitated he paces around the nest, calling and trumpeting. They both watch to the right.
Posted Image

8:13am. K-01 hops onto the nest rock. Still calling out. K-91 moved down onto the nest and fluffed up the fluff.

8:17am. K-91 hops back up onto the nest rock.
Posted Image

8:26am. After the bonding. Still alert and calling.

WE - Hi Pat. :}^

I saw that too.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it was K-01 on Wray's rock.

Besides seeing a bling, it's trumpeting was different than K-01's....and K-91 was definitely upset with it being there!

Maria's super video does a good close up at the end of their encounter. It really looks like K-91 is chasing off the other eagle. JMHO
