<::: PLEASE READ

The Nest Observations/Nest Watch thread remains open .. as long as there are cameras .. which are operational .. to watch.

Normally the VCOE and the IWS work on the cam equipment during the fall/winter .. so the cams may go off from time to time .. but we are normally advised by them if they are working in the area.

Times of events/changes on a nest are a great help to those of us who video when we are editing the footage.

Just a few Gentle Reminders about posting on this thread. (Helps to save time when reading through it.)

Please remember that it is the CHANNEL ISLANDS NESTS ONLY .. either on or off camera .. that we post our observations/comments about.

There are FIVE IWS nests with cameras online .. so it is important to know WHICH NEST you are observing.

Please put the Initials at the start of your post.

. . .ALL NEST CAMS - http://www.iws.org/livecams.html
. . . BC = Bald Canyon on San Clemente Island - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkyV1GCatZo Temporarily unavailable
. . . FP = Fraser Point - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1QvmdARTkk
. . .SC = Sauces Canyon (WMP) - http://media1.vcoe.org/eaglecam2 Temporarily unavailable
. . .SC = Sauces Canyon - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2EbuOwNASY
. . .SC = Sauces Canyon (Explore) - http://explore.org/live-cams/player/sauces-bald-eagle
. . .TH = Two Harbors (Explore) - http://explore.org/live-cams/player/bald-eagle-two-harbors
. . .TH2 = Two Harbors (new nest) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbAeFvms6js
. . .THO = Two Harbors Overlook (Explore) - http://explore.org/live-cams/player/two-harbors-overlook-catalina
. . .WE = West End - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J2lBaHj0nI
. . .WEO = West End Overlook - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3T_babuBGI

These nests are all in California ... so it's Pacific Time on this coast.

We prefer that the Quote Button is not used on this thread ... and if you must use it ... because you are referring to something on a previous page ... then take TEXT only ... never captures or video.

Thanks!

“A request from Dr. Sharpe”

Eagle Guy,Mar 28 2011
09:34 AM
We are recording the activity at the Two Harbors and West End nests so that we can identify all the prey brought to the nests to calibrate the results of the nest excavations at the end of the season. I'd appreciate if you could continue to report the times that prey are brought to the nest so that later we can go through the recordings more quickly to identify the items. Thanks.

Eagle Guy,Mar 28 2011

Maybe prey delivery posts could be started with  >>: even if it is a bird or unidentified,  so that we can spot them more easily.

To make it easier for the biologists to see the prey deliveries, please limit the use of the blue fish to prey deliveries only.

Begin your post with the nest initials, followed by the time of delivery & the blue fish.

We are recording prey deliveries at all the online nests, so please continue to use the blue fish for deliveries at any nest.

Thank you!

FP 8.51 ?
A64 flies in from the right with some fluff I think. He looks around for A49, then works in the nest.

8.52
A49 flies in from the right and lands on the right branch, then hops over to the nest.

8.53
A49 scans the area as A64 works in the nest. Then she begins to dig and fluff too

8.54
A64 hops out to the left rear of the nest and behind the branches. He looks out to the left, as does A49.

8.55
A49 begins to watch to the right, A64 turns around.

8.56
A49 begins to test the bowl and gets uplifted by the wind. She turns and watches to the front, as if someone snuck up behind her

8.57
A64 flies off to the left. A49 tracks

9.01
A49 hops up to the right branch. A64 works at the 12. they watch right again

9.03
A64 flies to the rear and to the left. A49 tracks

9.04
A64 lands with another branch, he places it to the 8-9, then turns to scan the rear. A49 watches the front.

9.07
A64 hops over to the branch and has ideas of bonding. Both call and trumpet loudly and a lot. Guess she was telling him, Not Now. He turns to face rear and preens
