The lucha block was a two hour AAA show this week so hopefully the 3-5 am show yields some CMLL goodness for a part 2 to this. Now as I'm sure you all know AAA sucks for the most part as it's polluted with midgets and women and just sports entertainment in general. I will only review bits and pieces when I think something will be interesting for you guys. Today is just such an occassion. This was taped around Christmas. GHC Junior Tag Team Title Match: Naomichi Marufuji and KENTA © vs. Juventud Guerrera and Mr. Aguila KENTA and Aguila start the match. Both sides decide to switch right away so it's Marufuji and Guerrera. They take turns playing to the crowd. Lockup and Guerrera gets a headlock. Guerrera gets an arm wrench but Marufuji flips it into an armdrag. KENTA and Aguila get tagged in. They exchange chops until Aguila gains the upperhand. KENTA ducks a big boot and they exchange blows. KENTA comes off the ropes and grabs a waistlock. Aguila tries to escape but KENTA pulls the hair and gets a headlock. Back and forth until KENTA hits an elbow and then runs into a spinning heel kick. Guerrera tags in and they replay cuts off the next move. They do a double elbow drop, double kip up, double dropkicks to the head and double roundhouse kicks. Guerrera covers for two. Guerrera hits a suplex and covers for two. Knee to the back and it cuts away to the announcers talking. Back to the ring as Guerrera hits a dropkick and tags Aguila in. Aguila hits a springboard legdrop and does the DX chop. Aguila sends KENTA into the corner and hits an elbow. Snapmare followed by a stiff kick to the back. Guerrera tags in. Back and forth until KENTA hits a powerslam. Marufuji tags in and they stomp and choke Guerrera in the corner. Back and forth until Guerrera hits a clothesline. Aguila tags in and he gets a dropkick to the knee from Marufuji. Marufuji does the ten punches in the corner. Aguila hits a tilt-o-whirl faceslam and covers for two. Aguila hits several chops and sends Marufuji into the corner. Aguila ends up falling to the outside after missing a spinning heel kick. Aguila clutches his knee as we head to commercials. Commercial Break We're back and it looks like they didn't skip anything during the commercials. The ref and a doctor check Aguila's knee as they replay him falling to the outside. They bring out a stretcher and load Aguila into an ambulance. The ref counts him out and it's over. The match was going along pretty well until the ending. I have no clue if he was really hurt or not. Russo's run as booker has made it hard to tell with anything in wrestling these days. **3/4 WINNERS AND STILL CHAMPS: Naomichi Marufuji and KENTA Overall: The rest of the show was the usual AAA trainwreck. I'm hoping there's some CMLL on later tonight. If not join me next week for more Lucha fun from Galavision. |

Besides the fact that I HATE Mr. Aguila, this one otherwise I would expect to be a bit better, but they are wrestling in Mexico and not in Japan.........so I'm sure that's the reason. |

They were still in the buildup phase when they did the countout ending. It probably could've been ***1/2 with an ending. |

They were working a very odd kind of match. Kind of a bastard child of lucha and Puro Junior style. I hope you enjoyed this week's edition of Lucha Libre. |
