This is a warmup since it was requested that I do one for the UFC PPV this weekend. So tell me if this is a good enough recap for you. Star ratings are getting thrown out the door and I'm just going to use a simple scoring system to tell you if the fight is worth your time or not. I'll also throw my score card at the end of rounds just for the hell of it. Hosts are Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan Middleweight Bout: Lee Murray 8-1-1 vs. Jorge Rivera 7-1-0 Round 1: Rivera takes an early advantage as he gets Murray against the cage and gets a takedown. Murray slips from a half guard to a full guard while on the ground but Rivera really doesn't do anything other than throwing some punches. Rivera stands up and tries to gain better advantage but Murray gets an armbar. Rivera tries to get out but stupidly standing up which allows Murray to really get a good armbar in and Rivera taps at 1:46. The really funny part about this is Rogan was getting a huge boner over Murray's striking skills and Murray never threw a standing punch during the whole fight. Nothing really happened during the fight though. 0 for 1. WINNER: Lee Murray by submission 1:46 into Rd. 1 UFC Welterweight Title Match: Frank Trigg 9-1-0 vs. Matt Hughes © 29-3-0 Round 1: This should be a nice preview of what to expect on Saturday. Trigg gets a takedown right away but Hughes has a front face lock. They fight over position for quite awhile until Hughes lifts Trigg onto his shoulder and slams him to the mat. Trigg gets a half hearted kimura but Hughes easily gets out of the hold. They battle over control on the ground which Hughes basically wins by getting a few takedowns in the mix. Hughes gets on Triggs back to get a choke hold. Trigg stands up and Hughes locks in a sleeper hold, not really but that's what it looks like, and Trigg taps at 3:55. Trigg looked completely outclassed here. He put up a decent fight but everything just seemed like he was delaying Hughes victory. 1 for 2. WINNER AND STILL CHAMP: Matt Hughes by submission 3:55 into Rd. 1 Light Heavyweight Bout: Vernon White 11-8-1 vs. Chuck Liddell 13-3-0 Round 1: This match is basically just a brawl. Liddell gets a takedown on White but lets him up. More brawling. White gets knocked down by shots a few times during the fight but Liddell basically just lets him back up after some shots on the ground. White tries to slow things down with some kicks and jabs but gets KOd by a right from Liddell at 4:03. Did I mention these guys hate each other. It was very similar to the Bonnar/Griffin fight from the weekend except a little slower and a lot more one sided. Still a fun brawl though. 2 for 3. WINNER: Chuck Liddell by KO 4:03 into Rd. 1 Overall: A great show as the video packages explain every fight nicely. I would highly recommend seeing this show if you plan on getting UFC 52. You'll get to see 4 of the fighters from that show in action here. Please leave feedback so I know if this style of recap works for you. |

Yeah I enjoyed the fight quite a bit. Though I was extremely disappointed in Vernon White as he's looked much better in the past. |

I actually just got done watching this, so I figure I would throw my thoughts out there. The show was pretty entertaining and pretty much kept my attention the whole time, plus I was actually surprised at how much they give on the show for free.
I enjoyed this fight overall as I was rather curious to see Lee Murray (I've heard about his stuff with Tito Ortiz) and if he was going to be any good or not. I heard all about him being good standing and punching but I liked how he won with the tap out from the arm bar.
This was the fight that I was waiting for. I really liked the fact that these two tend to wrestle more than other fighters I've seen. Hughes is a fucking beast in this one really showing power by getting out of a few grapples by Trigg. I would agree with MD on this one as I thought it was more of Trigg trying to hang on as opposed to trying to beat Hughes. Good fight.
I was pretty pumped for this one as well as since watching Ultimate Fighter that I've wanted to see Liddell in there. I wasn't disappointed as he really seems like a hell of a striker. Both guys fought hard and were both throwing hard stuff. Liddell ended up winning pretty easily and now I REALLY want to see Liddell/Couture II. Good show overall, and I really think I might start getting into UFC more and more. |

The problem I think White has from the 2 fights I've seen him in is that he can't put guys away. He seems to lack that killer move to put him over the top. The other fight I saw him in was his 1 draw. The Trigg/Hughes fight took a lot of the luster off of their rematch. Though I admit I'm looking forward to seeing more of Hughes. I also like how the video packages get you right up to date on what's going on. |

I would agree that it did take away some of the luster. Still though Hughes seems like a fucking badass, and I want to see if he can put out Trigg again. |

I've got some old King of the Cage stuff with White. He was very strong on the ground there. Sounds like Lidell just beat him up, and took that out of play. |

Exactly WMD. He planned on standing and punching at the beginning of the fight. So they weren't really on the ground at all. |
