That's compassionate. It's a disease and some people struggle with that shit. Don't judge if you don't know. |

I do feel bad for him and Jake both. The one I have no compassion for is Grizzly. He has apparently ruined a lot of lives. |

My hearts not bleeding for the guy, but I'm not gonna act like LFV and judge him as evil because he couldn't clean himself up. |

You know what? Fuck the whole "acoholism is a disease" bullshit. You have to be on any drug a certain amount of time before you become addicted. That's your concious decision to take that shot, drink that beer, etc. I don't care what's politically correct, being a druggie and having lupus ain't the same fuckin thing. Now, I won't condem the guy to hell for fucking up his life, but I also wouldn't let him slide on the whole "he's the victim" argument. |

It's been scientifically proven that tendency towards addiction is hereditary. Some people can never take a drink or they will be caught, seriously, not even one drink. Now that person sees social drinkers and thinks he can do the same. He's screwed. I'm not completely calling the drinker a complete victim, but if you think that person can just buck up and kick the habit....well, you haven't seen much in your life. |

The thing is: Its still their choice. It's not as if alcohol was POURED down their throat. The choice was theirs. I refuse to see them as a victim. |

I didn't say see them as a victim, I said see them as a person with no control over their condition. In a sense, you're right. My Grandmother is a junkie, my mom was an addict, and my dad is an alcoholic. After the crap I saw, I decided to never touch any of that stuff, and well, I'm not addicted to anything except maybe coffee. However, you can't just write someone off as scum because they get trapped in a situation they never saw coming. Trust me, very few people set out be a junkie. |

I'm not writing them off as a person. I'm saying I refuse to feel bad for them. Even if they didn't set out to do it, and even if they didn't see it coming, they still had the choice to avoid it entirely. Not trying to belittle your family story you just told, because I find it tragic (because one of my best friends was in a very simaliar situation, I sympathize). I'm just saying that I'm not going to feel bad for someone who ruined thier own life with things they knew could well do just that. |

That's cool. I think you'd probably feel differently if you had loved ones in that situation, but hey, I'm glad that you don't. Like I said before though, there is no excuse for him continuing to drive drunk over and over. For that, he deserves jail. |

That's what I'm saying man. You saw that in your family, you're smart enough to deal with it in a smart and positive manner. Every important male in my life has been an alcoholic, and that is their fault. Like LFV said, they took the drink. So what if they're more genetically inclined? That's all the more reason for them not to be fuckwits. Like you, like me. |
