Hey, thanks for the feedback :) I'm glad you guys enjoyed the first show, I did put quite a bit of thought into it. I'm surprised, but not that surprised by the good rating the main event got since Team 3D are an experienced tag team and all four of the workers are capable brawlers (and are pretty over). I really look forward to writing next week's episode. |

NEW Saturday Night! May 13th 2006 -The show opens with a car pulling into the parking lot. It is a surprisingly beat down piece of crap car. The door opens and out steps… the Rated R Superstar, Edge! Edge looks angry and he storms into the building. (79) -The opening video for NEW Saturday Night plays! The opening video is set to “World Wide Suicide” by Pearl Jam. The clips include Foley and Flair brawling, Team 3D putting Big Show through a table, and the Rock laying out Sonny Siaki. -Ernie Rowe and Professor Plague welcome us to the show! This week is airing out of a high school gymnasium in Boston, Massachusetts. The same stage from last week has been set up and the fans are on their feet. Match 1: Ric Flair vs D'Lo Brown The crowd is disappointedly not into this match, though D’Lo tries really hard to get some face heat. Flair uses every cheap shot in the book, including raking Brown’s eyes on the ropes. Flair is cheating just for fun, not because he needs to rely on it to win. Flair hits a low blow and sets Brown up for the figure four, to which Brown taps out at 5:55! Winner: Ric Flair, *1/2 (72/75/68) Plague: They don’t call him the “dirtiest player in the game for nothing! Rowe: That was disgraceful. Flair could have wrestled a clean, competitive match, but decided to cheat for the sheer hell out it! Commercial break. -After the break, Flair is still in the ring. He has a microphone. Flair: WHOOOOOOOOOO! That’s how I get it done! I’m the dirtiest player in the game, and I’m still the greatest wrestler in the world! How I got stuck in this piece of crap promotion known as New England Wrestling is beyond me! I’m a long ways away from Flair Country and I can tell. For starters, you asshole fans don’t respect me, but that’s okay because I don’t respect you either. You know why? Because you choose to cheer that fat, out of shape, blob known as Mick Foley! You people… (Flair is cut off by Foley’s music). Foley: That’s enough, Ric. You can say whatever you want about me, I can take it, but what the hell do you think you are doing bad-mouthing New England Wrestling? I am damn proud to be here and I think NEW has the potential to be the greatest promotion North America has seen in a long time. In my opinion, Flair, if NEW sucks it is because we are stuck with a locker-room cancer like you! Foley then drops the mic and charges the ring. Flair and Foley get into another brawl. However, before any referees can stop this one, Foley pulls Mr. Socko out of his sweat pants and puts it on his hand and shoves it down the throat of Ric Flair. Flair finally escapes and vomits at ringside. (88%). Commercial break. Match 2: Rene Dupree vs Tajiri (Opening Round Tournament Match) This turns into a clean little match. Dupree takes control of Tajiri in the early going, but Tajiri fires back and hits all of his signature spots, including the Tarantula and some stiff kicks to Dupree’s head. Unfortunately, Tajiri goes for a flying crossbody off the ropes, and Dupree reverses it into a roll up and gets the pinfall victory at 4:15. Winner: Rene Dupree, ** (72/69/75) Rowe: That was an impressive victory by the “French Phenom” Rene Dupree. -Backstage, Chris Jericho is walking around looking for someone. Finally, he catches Sonny Siaki, who is putting his boots on. Jericho: Hey, Sonny, how’s it going? Siaki: I’m doing great, Chris. Tonight, I’m going to embarrass The Rock and send him running back to his Hollywood buddies. Jericho: Undoubtedly you are going to kick his ass, good luck with that. Siaki: Thanks, man. Jericho: But there is one other thing (moves in close to Siaki’s face). Last week when The Rock was talking crap about me, I did NOT need you running out there to defend me. I fight my own battles and I don’t need some pipsqueak like you ruining the good name of Chris Jericho. Got that, junior? Siaki: Yeah, yeah, no sweat, sorry, man. Jericho: Good. Now do me a favor and kick The Rock’s ass… but stay the hell out of my way. (Jericho leaves, with Siaki looking irritated). (100%). Commercial break. Match 3: Christian Cage vs Shawn Daivari (Opening Round Tournament Match) Christian takes control in the early going, but he is thrown off when he realizes that Edge is watching the match from the stage. Christian clearly is put off by the appearance of his brother, and Daivari takes control for several minutes. Daivari plants Christian on the mat, and pulls out his “magic carpet” to revive his signature top rope move, but Christian bolts up and hits a huge belly to belly suplex on Daivari. Christian covers Daivari for the win at 7:12! Winner: Christian Cage, *1/2 (70/72/68). After the match, Edge jumps into the ring and plants Christian with a spear! Rowe: What the hell? Why did Edge just spear his brother!? Plague: I don’t know and I don’t care. That was freaking sweet! Commercial break. Match 4: Kane vs Shark Boy vs Sonjay Dutt Shark Boy and Sonjay try to work as a unit, and the first several minutes of this match is basically a handicap match against Kane. The two smaller stars are able to send Kane falling backwards over the top rope. While Kane gains his bearings, Sonjay and Shark Boy battle each other with some dazzling highflying moves. It isn’t to last though, as Kane angrily storms the ring and chokeslams the hell out of both men. Kane covers them both at the same time for the victory at 7:22. Meanwhile there is an obnoxious fan in the front row screaming his lungs out in celebration. Winner: Kane, **1/4 (70/63/78) Rowe: Kane continues to be a force to reckon with. Plague: Stick around folks, our big main event of the evening is up next! Final (and quick) commercial). Match 5: The Rock vs Sonny Siaki The Rock comes out to a huge ovation and catches Sonny Siaki off guard. Rock fires way with some lightning fast punches, and knocks Siaki silly. Siaki goes to ringside to recover and Rock pursues him, but Siaki whips Rock into the ring post. Rock is busted open! Siaki then pummels The Rock with some hard strikes to the open wound on The Rock’s forehead. Siaki goes for the Siakalypse, but The Rock reverses the move. Rock hits the Rock Bottom and pins Sonny Siaki at 9:12! Winner: The Rock, **1/4 (78/80/75) After the match, Chris Jericho runs in and attacks The Rock. Jericho puts The Rock into the Walls of Jericho, while Sonny Siaki fends off the referees who run in to try and help him. The Rock passes out from the pain, and Chris Jericho poses over his prey. Rowe: That was despicable! I am ashamed to have Chris Jericho and Sonny Siaki on the payroll! Plague: This is the greatest moment in all of wrestling history! The Rock tries to come back to wrestling and has been humbled by two men who are truly passionate about our great sport! Go back to Hollywood, Rock, we don’t want you! Overall: 78 We got a 2.06 rating for 'NWA New England'! The attendance level was 1760 people. We made $52800 from ticket sales. |

Another good show, although I liked the first week's show better. This one seemed to lack direction to me a bit. I don't need a reason for every match to happen, but why were Kane/Dutt/Shark Boy even wrestling in a match? And if I'm going to get into your tournament, it would nice to see the bracket at least once a show. Generally though, I liked it, and it continues to be a really easy read in your format. Good work. |
