I like Kane and all, but you know Shark Boy and Dutt did all the work in that Kane vs Shark Boy vs Sonjay Dutt match. |

I liked last week's show better too, this one was rushed since I had a six page paper due today, a five page one due yesterday, a 21 page one due on Monday, and two more 5-6 page papers due later next week. And Kane vs Shark Boy vs Sonjay was just an excuse to get Kane on the show. |

Damn right :D I actually cannot believe I even found time to do my show this week. Actually, I have some semi-longterm plans in set for NEW, so hopefully once they play out some more, this episode will look like it had more direction in the long run. |

What makes you think I'm not stringing you along into a false sense of security by pushing Kane so strongly, only to turn around and job him to my three Spirit Squad members next week? Oh yeah, the knife... :( |

NEW Saturday Night! May 20th 2006 Week three of NEW Saturday Night kicks off with an updated intro video, now featuring clips from the Kane/Shark Boy/Sonjay Dutt match as well as JBL and Chris Jericho making their entrances. Also added is a teaser shot of The Undertaker! Ernie Rowe and Professor Plague welcome us to a special tournament edition of NEW Saturday Night. We are airing live from Manchester, NH and we will witness the final four matches in the opening round of the NEW Championship tournament! -The Rock makes his way to the ring, and he is pissed. He grabs a microphone. Rock: The Rock is going to make this short and simple: Y2J, get your candy ass out here so The Rock can lay the Smackdown on you monkey-loving son of a bitch! Several seconds go by, with no response. The Rock: Chris Jericho, if you don’t come to The Rock, The Rock will come to you. The Rock will tear that entire locker-room apart until… (Rock is cut off by Sonny Siaki’s music). Siaki: Sorry to disappoint you, Rocky, but Jericho isn’t here tonight. He has a concert gig with Fozzy, and decided that would pay him better than showing up here, tonight. Rock: That’s a shame. The Rock will just have to kick your ass instead. The Rock charges up the ramp to brawl with Siaki. They exchange blows when suddenly, The Rock’s opponent tonight, Ric Flair, runs out with a chair. Flair cracks The Rock over the head with it and immediately takes off. Siaki hits the Siakacalypse on The Rock for good measure. This cannot bode will for The Rock’s match later tonight. (100%) Match 1: Kane vs Mick Foley (Opening Round Tournament Match) The crowd is rabid for this match between the two more deranged members of the NEW roster. Kane uses his strength to overpower Foley in the early going, even hitting a boot to the face. Kane goes for a chokeslam, but Foley counters with the mandible claw. The action spills to ringside where Ric Flair comes strolling back out with the chair. This distracts Foley, allowing Kane to trap him with a tombstone at ringside. Kane slides Foley back into the ring and pins him at 6:23. The same obnoxious fan from last week has thrown toilet paper streamers into the ring. Winner: Kane, *** (85/90/70) Rowe: That’s it, I’ve had enough of Ric Flair. I know he’s one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, but he is ruining New England Wrestling! Plague: Says you! I haven’t been this entertained since Nitro! -Backstage, announcer Iron Troy Cumings is standing by with none other than Edge. Iron Troy asks Edge why he speared his own brother, Christian Cage, last week. Edge says he is disgusted by his brother. Edge claims that he is the bigger, stronger, and better wrestler than Christian, but Edge has found nothing but failure while his brother was the actual NWA World Champion. Edge says he is living in poverty while his brother is living the good life. Edge vows to run Christian out of NEW, but tonight he is going to take down the Big Show. Match 2: Big Show vs Edge (Opening Round Tournament Match) This is a methodical and plodding match (ie, its kinda boring) with Big Show in control for the most part. Show hits some sick chops across the chest of Edge. Edge desperately rakes the eyes of the Big Show, who stumbles into the referee. Edge uses the brief distraction to hit a field goal kick between the legs of Big Show. Edge follows it up with a spear to gain the victory at 3:45. Winner: Edge, **3/4 (84/88/77) Rowe: Edge turned the Big Show’s size advantage into a disadvantage. Plague: And where the hell is Christian Cage? I was positive he would be interring in this match. Rowe: Perhaps Christian has more integrity than his jealous, sadistic brother. -Backstage, Iron Troy is standing by with Gregory Helms. Iron Troy asks Helms how he feels about being The Undertaker’s first opponent in NEW later tonight. Helms states that he is not afraid of The Undertaker and that Taker’s ridiculous gimmicks and mind games will not work on him. Helms promises to become the first ever NEW Champion. (71%) Match 3: The Rock vs Ric Flair (Opening Round Tournament Match) The Rock is at an obvious disadvantage from the attacks earlier. This doesn’t stop The Rock from unleashing a barrage of punches on the dirtiest player in the game. Flair fires back with some chops, and they exchange blows for a few minutes. Finally, Flair goes for the figure four, but The Rock reverses it. Since The Rock was about to make it to the ropes, Flair is trapped in the center of the ring and taps out at 6:59! After the match, The Rock hits the Rock Bottom on Flair for good measure. Winner: The Rock, **1/4 (83/89/71) Match 4: Team 3D vs The Basham Brothers This match turns out be surprisingly good. Team 3-D underestimate the Bashams, which results in Brother Devon becoming the face in peril. He suffers a full nelson slam from Doug Basham, and makes a tag to Brother Ray. Unfortunately, the ref missed the tag, so Devon is stranded even longer. Eventually, Brother Devon hits a double DDT on both Bashams and makes the tag to his brother. Brother Ray cleans house, and hits the Bubba Bomb on Danny Basham for the victory at 8:10! Winners: Team 3-D, ***3/4 (84/78/91) After the match, Team 3-D is jumped by two new faces: James Storm and Chris Harris, America’s Most Wanted! AMW hit the Death Sentence on both members of Team 3-D, leaving them down and out! Rowe: America’s Most Wanted were out to make an impact tonight, and I would dare say they accomplished that! Plague: The tag team division here in NEW is firing up! Match 5: The Undertaker vs Gregory Helms (Opening Round Tournament Match) Gregory Helms is the first to the ring and he looks more nervous than he let on earlier. Then the arena goes dark… and the terrifying sound of a gong travels through the arena… and then…. “Dead Man Walking.” The lights come back on, strobe lights light up the arena, and the sound of a motorcycle can be heard. It’s the return of Biker Taker! The Undertaker rides into the arena to a monster pop. He quickly enters the ring and quickly tangles up with Helms. Undertaker hits all of his signature spots, including the old school rope walk, the legdrop on the apron, and even whips Helms into the steel steps at ringside. Helms in a daze, but manages to hit some offense of his own on Undertaker. Helms drops Taker with a dropkick and puts him in a sleeper. Undertaker fights out of it and hits the Last Ride on Helms for the win at 6:50! Winner: The Undertaker, **1/4 (78/81/74) Rowe: That was awesome! The Undertaker has returned in all his glory! Plague: The NEW stars are in big trouble! When the Undertaker is in his biker form, he is faster and more aggressive! Rowe: I would not be surprised one bit if Undertaker goes on to win this tournament! Plague: Speaking of which, what do we have to look forward to next week? Rowe: Next week, the quarter finals begin! Plus, I have been informed that John Bradshaw Layfield has demanded interview time! Plague: I’m totally there!
Overall: 82 We got a 2.03 rating for 'NWA New England'! The attendance level was 2009 people. We made $60270 from ticket sales. |

Nice show Rowe. Glad to see someone finally submitting the Figure Four reversal....that rules. A good build show moving you along in the tourney, and some damn solid matches all throughout the shows. You'll be taking a chunk out of the MOTY thread once I update it, thats for sure. Nice to see AMW debuting as well, even if it is against the lame-o Dudleys. Nice work. |
