I am a big fan of both Punk and Styles. Styles has shown an ability to put on a good match with a wide range of different opponents and regularly steals the show on TNA ppvs. Punk, routinely tore the house down in ROH, and has impressed me with his ability to work fans who consider themselves too smart to be worked. They both are held in high regards by me. |

I've been waiting for Punk's debut on TV. I left the room for about ten minutes to check my e-mail, and that was the match I missed.
That is amazing. I feel inspired. Everytime I walk into work, I know what I must do. |

Styles is good. Punk is better. AJ has two types of good matches. AJ vs. Little guy he can fly with or AJ vs. Big guy who throws him around. Punk can have a good match with everyone. Not to say he always does. He has his fair share (sometimes more than his fair share) of stinkers. But I still think he's the better worker, and in the long run will be the bigger star. |

I've never seen Punk carry a clearly inferior worker in the ring. He had a shitty series of matches with Raven while the often bashed Jeff Jarrett was dragging solid stuff out of him. I will say it again, I haven't seen Punk do a good carry job on a clearly inferior opponent. I have seen AJ Styles drag good matches out of the Sandman and Sean Waltman. Hell, he even drug a good match out of a Larry Zbyszko who had been in a ring a handful of times in the last decade or so. I think Punk is ok but the more and more I see of him the more I'm convinced that he's average at best in the ring. He just has the benefit of smarks overlooking his shitty matches which there are plenty of while praising him when he gets in the ring with Samoa Joe or James Gibson and holding up his end of the deal. That's not being a good worker. I've also seen most of his OVW work and he's sucked more often than not there. If it wasn't for Brent Albright he wouldn't have anything close to a classic match there. |

I would say out of Punk and AJ, AJ is the better worker. Although I think Punk is more than serviceable in the ring, I do disagree with what MD is saying about his work. Sure, the Raven feud sucked ass. That was also 3 years ago. Punk has improved in leaps and bounds since then. |

I thought it was my job to point out Vladimir sightings... and that would've been a better name for a Vampire than Kevin Thorn. Hell, from now on I'm calling him Vladimir Mordecai. |

I think at this points in their career, there is no question: AJ Styles is the better worker. However, I think Punk has a larger upside, and if he delivers on his potential, could be more successful in the long run. |

This is how Punk runs down for me. He has good matches with good workers, average matches with average workers and bad matches with bad workers. For the most part he's only as good as his opponent. He's someone who I get less impressed with the more I see of him. He's had far too many matches that were disasters for me to think of him as anything more than above average. But I can think of 2 matches off the top of my heading being the CW Anderson one and the M-Dogg ones that were so bad I was actually feeling rage by the end. Styles on the other hand has never been in something as bad as the worst Punk matches I've seen. I've seen him in bad matches but not rage inducing bad. Plus as I've said before I've seen Styles go in there and drag solid to good matches out of bad workers more than I've seen Punk do it. |

Then again I would say that Punk was having better matches with people like Joe than what AJ was having. Same thing with a few others that I've seen them both fight. |

The other big flaw I've seen in Punk is that he doesn't operate well when he has under 10 minutes in a match. This leads to either redundant offense to set up the Anaconda Vice or it leads to a disjointed mess where he's just throwing in spot after spot. |

This I'll somewhat agree with. He definately needs time to be effective. |

Oh...last thing this week from me on ECW (maybe): A local spot aired, announcing an ECW card for September 30 in Loveland (about 60 miles north of Denver). It promised the "high flying Rob Van Dam". Y'know..I might actually think about going to that. Might not GO...but I'll THINK about it! |

I must be the only one who liked that feud. But then again, I've been a fan of both Punk and Raven for some time. Although, I will acknowledge that their Clockwork Orange Cage of Fun Match wasn't that great to watch. |
