NWA: Hawaii
September 9th 2006

NWA: Hawaii had it's debut show this week. They are pretty small, and are looking only to run once or twice a month. They aren't signing anyone to contracts, but only using whoever is available.

Necro Butcher beat Tatanka at 10:45 in a real barn burner. The crowd got into this for some reason, I don't know why.

Heidenreich beat Orlando Jordan at 15:35 in quite possibly the worst match in the history of wrestling.

Tyson Tomko beat Rikishi by disqualification at 4:44, when Rikishi refused to let go of the stink face.

Tom Howard wrestled Bison Smith to a 30 minute draw. The crowd chanted "five more minutes" at the end, but Howard refused.

NWA World Champion The Rock beat Lance Cade at 56:23 in a surprisingly decent match. We were all surprised that The Rock performed, but I guess the NWA wants to get this new territory off on the right step.

NEW Saturday Night
September 9th 2006

-John Bradshaw Layfield went on one of his usual rants, about the PTL invaders, but mostly about how M-A star Rey Mysterio is getting a shot at the NEW Championship. Rey comes out and defends his place, stating that he was brought in to thrill the fans, and that should he win the NEW title at Manchester Mayhem, he will proudly defend the title at NEW events. JBL isn't buying this, and challenges Rey to a match tonight, which Rey accepts. Eric Bischoff then comes out and makes Chris Jericho the special referee for the match. (79%)

Jushin Liger and Tajiri defeated D'Lo Brown and Doug Basham to retain the NEW Tag Team Championship. Tajiri pinned Basham after spitting in his face. Basically, Brown keeps getting title shots with a different partner because Brown hasn't been pinned yet. After the match, Danny Basham returned to NEW to make the save from a beat-down. (84/77/91)

-Eric Bischoff cut a promo stating that he does not want to see any of the PTL invaders ever again, but he knows that he cannot do anything about it himself. That being said, he sends an open challenge out to the PTL guys. They will have a ten man tag team match at Manchester Mayhem. If they win, they will receive contracts. If they lose, they are out of the promotion for good. Bischoff states that he will be looking for volunteers on the NEW roster to represent NEW, but it has already been confirmed that Chris Sabin and Johnny Devine are recruited. (80%)

Chris Sabin drew Carlito when the PTL Invaders (Chris Hero, Kevin Steen, Matt Sydal, Frankie Kazarian, and Adam Pearce) ran in and beat both of them down. Johnny Devine, Brian Kendrick, and Jerrelle Clark ran in to make the save, but they were also beaten down. It now becomes pretty obvious who the PTL guys will be facing at Manchester Mayhem. (78/79/77)

-Ron Killings cut a backstage promo promising to take the Boston Harbor Championship from James Gibson at Manchester Mayhem. It was a good promo and earned Killings some over points.

-Sonny Siaki came out and claimed he found someone who can soften Rhino up before facing Tommy Dreamer at Manchester Mayhem. This man has beaten Rhino in the past, it's none other than Hardcore Holly!

Rhino squashed Hardcore Holly. Sonny Siaki tried interferring, but it was no good. Afterwards, Rhino started beating the crap out of Siaki, but Tommy Dreamer ran in and caned Rhino. (78/76/80)

John Bradshaw Layfield beat Rey Mysterio when referee Chris Jericho attacked Mysterio and did a fast three count. Mysterio dominated the majority of the match, and was the true winner in the eyes of the fans. After the match, Mysterio started brawling with Jericho, but JBL let it go, having felt satisfied with his victory. Jericho will surely not be happy that JBL didn't help out. (85%)

And that's a wrap.

Yeah, I just made up a new territory just to have a place for The Rock to be so that he's not in NEW, but he's still on tour.

Charly Manson and Cuervo d. Los Barrio Boys
Manson and Cuervo dominated and took two straight falls here. *** 67/49/86

After the match Manson cut a promo on Acero Dorado. He's still going to beatdown that little punk.

Dr. Wagner Jr. ©, Donovan Morgan and Fuerza Guerrera d. L.A. Par-K ©, La Parka II and Latin Lover
Lots of brawling here. Wagner took the first fall with a Black Tiger Bomb on Par-K. Parka II and Lover got submissions from Morgan and Guerrera with double armbars. Wagner stole the third fall with a low blow on Par-K and a roll up. *** 78/78/79

Averno and Mephisto d. Mexico's Most Wanted
This tag feud continued with Averno and Mephisto stealing a win after a pair of brass knuckles came out in the third fall. **** 79/61/97

Cibernetico d. Ultimo Dragon
The cheating has been out in full force this week as Cibernetico stole the third fall after unmasking Dragon. Santo ran out and tried to attack Cibernetico but got an illegal piledriver for his troubles. That's going to cost Cibernetico $5000. ***1/4 77/70/84

Teddy Hart cut a promo hyping his team with Super Dragon up.

Juventud Guerrera d. Shocker
This was a high flying masterpiece. Juvy proved to be too much this time around as he finished off Shocker with the 450 Splash. **** 85/79/91

Perro Aguayo Jr. d. Ultimo Guerrero
This feud has finally ended with Aguayo proving himself the better man once and for all. **3/4 71/68/75

Just remember. In Mexico the piledriver is an illegal move and each use is a $5,000 fine.

Angle vs. Sabu

In the Pit with Benoit...
Roddy Piper comes out to the ring. He wants some answers, and he knows the fans want some answers, so he calls out Chris Benoit. Benoit walks down, belt around his waist. Piper asks why Benoit did what he did last week. Benoit says that he beat Batista because his job is to retain the title. Piper asks why Benoit did it by pulling on the tights. Benoit replies that it's his job to retain the title. Piper asks Benoit if he's feeling funny lately. Benoit says no. Piper says good, because it's not time for jokes. Piper says that he's watched Benoit for his entire career and has never seen Chris Benoit take the easy way out. The Chris Benoit Roddy Piper knows would rather have the respect of the fans and the opponents with a clean win than to retain some title with a cheap one. Benoit stares at Piper. Benoit admits it. He pulled the tights. He did it because the belt means that much to him. Because the business means that much to him. He's spent twenty long years in the wrestling business, and he's sick and tired of watching prima donnas who care more about how they look than how they work getting the belts. He's seen guys who don't give two shits about the SPORT of professional wrestling punch and kick their way to the top with a bad tan and horrible matwork only to leave once they get bored. Benoit has dedicated his life to being a great WRESTLER, not a superstar, and he's not gonna give the belt up to some flavor of the month.
Piper pulls on the collar of his shirt and says that those comments hit a bit close to home. He then says that he's concerned for Benoit, which is why he called someone . To give Benoit perspective. That someone is...
KURT ANGLE comes down. He grabs a microphone. He asks Benoit what in the hell has gotten into him. He asks Benoit if he's senile. He tells Benoit that Benoit's a Rabid Wolverine. Rabid Wolverines don't pull tights. They don't need to. They beat people senseless. Benoit tells Kurt that of all people, Kurt Angle should understand where Benoit is coming from. Kurt Angle agrees, but that doesn't mean that he's going to start pulling people's tights. He doesn't have to. He won a gold medal with a broken freaking neck. He'll win titles that way if he has to. Benoit says that Kurt's right. In fact, Kurt is so right that Benoit is going to give a shot at the title. Benoit then slugs Angle with the belt. Roddy Piper starts to come over, but Benoit punks him out. Benoit then says "Did I say at? I meant with." (80)

Interstate Title Tournament: Onyx vs. John Walters
Kennedy is doing guest commentary. He insults Walters for interfering in his business with Terry Funk. It must have had some kind of effect, as Onyx ends up getting the win. After the match, Kennedy walks over Walters and holds his nose. Onyx walks up to the camera and says "That's 1."
Winner: Onyx (62/45/79)

More than meets the eye.
CM Punk wants to respond to Raven's comments. Punk has been a nobody. He has been a nobody with nothing. Nothing at all. He slept in a car as a kid. Because his dad drank away the rent money. He wore the same clothes to school every day because his mom snorted away the money for clothes. He saw the bottom that Raven was born in. He's stood in the very depths that created the monster that is what we know of Scott Levy. But he didn't embrace it. He rose above. He became better than the father that he barely knows. He became better than the mother he never sees. He became better than every fat piece of lard in the arena, and he's not going to let anyone forget it. Because he pulled himself out of the gutter when others were content to wallow in it. He is CM Punk. He is Straight Edge. But that's not the only reason he's better than you. (91)

Styles lets us know that Angle will have his NWA Midwest debut tonight vs. Sabu.

Chair Swinging Freaks vs. British Invasion
Styles alerts us that this match is to make up for the match that was supposed to take place at Hotter Than Hell, and that the Brits agreed to face the Freaks at Slave to the Grind if the Freaks win. There was a great spot in which Balls locked Nigel in a headlock, and Nigel shuddered and tagged out after he broke free. Balls sniffed his armpits, shrugged, then walked over to Axl, who sniffed and shrugged as well. The crowd started a "SMELLS LIKE SHIT" chant, which Axl promptly stopped, only to correct them by starting a "SMELLS LIKE PIT" chant. The match continues on until Harry Smith runs to ringside. Smith distracts the ref, and Nigel and Burchill try to double team Balls, but Nigel nails Burchill after Balls ducks, and then Axl charges across the ring and knocks Balls and Burchill onto the mat. Axl rolls up Nigel and the ref makes the three count.
WINNER: Chair Swinging Freaks. (71/67/79)

That should be us....
The Lords of the Ring are backstage. They say that they should have the Midwestern Tag Title shot at Slave to the Grind. But thanks to the Naturals that won't happen. It's the Naturals fault that LOTR lost at Hotter Than Hell. They purposefully held LOTR outside of the ring because they knew they couldn't beat them in the ring. They've held LOTR back too much. Now LOTR will do something about it. (76)

Title Tourney-Arik Cannon vs. Paul London
The match is interesting, but nothing super special. London came out with Jim E. Cornette. The face vs. face dynamic took a bit away from the match, but both guys worked well together. London, of course, gets the win.
WINNER: Paul London (60/42/79)

You robbed me...
Batista is in a room alone. He looks at the camera and talks directly to Abyss. He says that costing him the match at Hotter Than Hell was Abyss first mistake. Costing him his rematch, and his only chance to get the belt back, that will be his last. It's personal, now. (74)

Angle vs. Sabu
It's a crazy match, with both men giving 110%, but Angle pulls out the win. It's a good debut for Angle, and Benoit even watched from the walkway.
WINNER: Kurt Angle (87/88/86)

Overall: 76

NWA: Mid-Atlantic's Saturday Night Flood
Commentary by Jim Ross and Commissioner Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

2 Skinny Black Guys def. Backseat Boyz at 8:21 when El Generico hit the Brainbustah on Trent Acid. After the match, 2 Skinny Black Guys were attacked by same goth men who attacked them the week before.
*3/4
68/79/57

Commissioner Bobby "The Brain" Heenan leaves the commentators' table and goes into the ring. Heenan announces that while he sent Rey Mysterio to NEW, M-A received a former Mid-Atlantic and NWA champion in-turn, receiving Mid-Atlantic Legend "Nature Boy" Ric Flair.

Flair comes out to a standing ovation and huge pop from the crowd. All around the arena people are doing a standing-bow as Flair enters the ring. Flair says that he's going to steal the scene while he's back in the Mid-Atlantic, and relive his glory days.
86

While Heenan was away from the announce position, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin came-by and took Heenan's seat and head-set. Heenan stole a fans seat and told the fan "Beat it!". Heenan joins Ross and Austin on commentary. When asked why Austin was there, Austin said that unlike Flair, his glory days are over, but he's looking to find a protégé, so a young wrestler can find his glory days. All throughout the show, Heenan, Ross, and Austin debate the merits of each wrestler, and who he could consider as a protégé.

2 Live Kewl def. Air Rave at 5:46 with Scotty 2 Hotty hit the Flying DDT on Air Paris. At the end of the match, former PTL wrestler Fit Finlay jumped Colt Cababa while he was on the ring apron, pulling him into the apron and punching him like a punching bag. Finlay ran off when Scotty 2 Hotty chased Finlay away from ringside.

A video package plays to the Saturday Night Flood audience with footage from "Sugar" Shane Helms' camera. The opening segment includes a cityscape scene with Helms narrating the downfall of man because of the technologies in the world. "All the technologies could fail, but there will always be the arts; there will always be truth, beauty, and love." The segment ends with Helms shooting black and white footage from the center of the ring, a wrestler's point of view, to an empty arena. "But as the down fall continues, we continue technology; but, he lose the arts. We lose truth, beauty, and love. But, I will get it back. ...Even for just a single moment."
80

Heenan: Thank you, Shane. Now that's the kind of footage of been looking for!

Ross: You bought him another camera?

Heenan: You know I did, JR!

Austin: If I had to keep buying cameras, I used the old ones by shoving them up Helms' ass.

Les Bohèmiens (Chavo Guerrero/"Sugar" Shane Helms w/ Melina Perez) def. The Boogey Man & The Ultimate Warrior at 5:13 when Melina distracted the referee and Guerrero whipped The Boogey Man into Guerrero, who hit Boogey Man with a video camera.
**3/4
78/77/79

Ross: So, Brain, are you going to buy him another camera now?

Heenan: Shut up! That's none of your damn business, JR!

Austin: Right up Helms' ass, I say!

The Hardy Boyz draw The Heart Throbs via Time Limit at 15:00. After the match, The Hardy Boyz and The Heart Throbs continued to brawl.
***
80/79/82

Ross: Hey, Brain, where is the Mid-Atlantic champion, and AJ Styles?

Heenan: You mean AJ Daniels?

Ross: Yeah, whatever. Where are they?

Heenan: They're training.

Ross: What? They're training...together?

Heenan: Yeah.

Austin: Damn, son. I thought they would kill each other. Well, AJ going to kill Chris ever since making him change his name.

Heenan: Well, he sent in this video in his absence.

A black and white video plays to the audience with Perry Como's "Magic Moments" playing in the background. The video includes Mid-Atlantic champion "God's Gift to Wrestling" Christopher Daniels in the ring with AJ Daniels (formerly AJ Styles). The video package includes Daniels trying to teach AJ the Angel's Wings. Training students are in the ring and put in the hold again and again, each time Daniels making AJ repeat the move. Daniels begins to yell at AJ as "Magic Moments" continues to play in the background. AJ kicks Daniels, and puts him in the Angel's Wings, and leaves the ring.
98

Ross: Well, I think AJ got a hang of the move.

Austin: And damn good enough to lay-out the master of the Angel's Wings. May be if he knew the Angel's Wings before, may be he could have beat Daniels in that title-for-contract match at Revolution.

Ross: I think the Styles Clash is more than suiting for a finisher for AJ. He just wasn't able to get the move for a second time on Daniels to win the title-for-contract match at Revolution. In fact, it was with the Styles Clash that Daniels was able to pin AJ in the title-for-contract match. You're rather quiet, Brain.

Heenan: Shut up, JR! And you know Austin, he didn't know the move. Daniels won the title-for-contract match and now AJ Daniels is under contract with Chris. I don't know why Chris just didn't fire AJ and get rid of him from the Mid-Atlantic. We could probably get two or threes wrestlers for AJ Styles! I mean, AJ Daniels!

Ross: Calm down, Brain.

Heenan: I will not calm down! Either way, the fact still remains that Christopher Daniels is the best wrestler in the Mid-Atlantic! He is our champion, and he deserves respect!

Kane def. Sting at 10:09 with the Chokeslam when Val Venis ran into the ring, and jabbed Sting in the throat with a foreign metal object.
****
90/94/83

Venis: You never answered me Sting! I gave you one week, one week, and you never answered me! You better answer me next week! I want an answer!

Ross: Well, I guess that concludes another edition of NWA: Mid-Atlantic's Saturday Night Flood. We'll see you next week!

:The Rock's music plays.:

Ross: The hell?! When did you get The Rock?

Heenan: I didn't. He was supposed to go to CSW!

Austin: Oh, by the way Brain, when you hired me, I called a friend to come along.

Heenan: Wait?!

Rock: What were you saying earlier, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan?

Heenan: I was just saying...

Rock: It doesn't matter what you were saying, Brain! With The Rock in the Mid-Atlantic, Chris Daniels is no longer your top star. The Mid-Atlantic title means nothing compared to the NWA title. Heenan, you will bring me your top talent, and I will take your Mid-Atlantic title, shine it up real nice...and shove up straight up, your monkey ass! Next week Brain, you're going to have talent ready for me. I don't care if it's Hogan. I've beat him. Bring them by the dozens, it doesn't matter! I will beat them. Consider this an Open Challenge. I'll even have the NWA title on the line.

Heenan: Crap. Wait...are you familiar with the Ultimate Challenge?

Ross: Fans, we're out of time! We'll see you next week!
