Announcement regarding Manchester Mayhem:

Kid Kash vs. Shark Boy has been added to Friday's pay-per-view. Kash threw a fit at the last production meeting over not having a match for the show, and the bookers actually agreed with him.

Manchester Mayhem
September 29th 2006

The opening video has a quite little segment on the history of Manchester, NH, and how it has grown rapidly over the past couple decades. The video distorts into “Revelations” by Audioslave, with shots of Rey Mysterio, JBL, and Chris Jericho all acting intense. Tonight’s main event is sure to be talked about for years, it’s Rey Mysterio challenging Chris Jericho for the NEW Championship, with the xenophobic JBL as the special guest referee!

The pyro explodes, the fans cheer, and President Rowe and Professor Plague are on commentary!

Rowe: Welcome to the first annual Manchester Mayhem, from NEW’s home town of Manchester, New Hampshire!

Plague: I wouldn’t be bragging about that Rowe, this town really sucks.

Rowe: I warned you, no bad-mouthing Manchester on air, no matter how much you hate it.

Plague: You know, I’d like this job a lot more if you would quit violating my right of free speech. Just like this opening contest. These PTL Invaders have got to go!

Rowe: You know, I might not always like how the PTL guys get their business done, but they are a hell of a talented group, and I would love to have them under contract.

Match One: Carlito, Chris Sabin, Johnny Devine, Brian Kendrick, and Jerrelle Clark vs. Chris Hero, Frankie Kazarian, Matt Sydal, Kevin Steen, and Adam Pearce

Surprisingly to no one, this match turns into a real spot-fest. The opening minutes has no tagging, with a five on five brawl. Finally, everyone spills out of the ring, leaving Chris Sabin alone with Matt Sydal, and they are declared the legal men. Sabin and Sydal put on a thrilling stalemate sequence, earning some applause from the crowd, but it ends when Kazarian interrupts with a missile drop-kick on Sabin. This results in Sabin’s teammates storming the ring to chase Kazarian out, but the PTL guys fight back and the five on five brawl continues at ringside. Brian Kendrick escapes long enough to climb to the top turnbuckle, and hits a beautiful moonsault on the entire group, including his own partners. The NEW guys recover first, and throw Sydal back into the ring, for Sabin to cover, but Sydal kicks out. Sydal makes the tag to Adam Pearce, who uses his strength to overpower the smaller Kendrick. The match continues at lightning pace for the next several minutes, with each member of both teams getting appropriate ring time. Finally it comes down to Chris Hero and Chris Sabin, alone with the others brawling. Chris Hero hits a blind low blow on Sabin, but Carlito runs in to make the save. Carlito corners Hero, but turns around and spits right in Sabin’s face! Carlito hits the back cracker on Sabin, and leaves him for Hero, who puts Sabin in the Hangman’s Clutch. Sabin has no choice but to tap out at 15:12!

Winners and official NEW superstars: Chris Hero, Frankie Kazarian, Matt Sydal, Kevin Steen, and Adam Pearce, **1/2 (71/60/83)

Plague: So, Rowe, are you STILL happy that PTL are here in NEW?

Rowe: That turncoat, Carlito, just stabbed his teammates in the back! This is not how I wanted those guys to get contracts!

Plague: We should’ve seen this coming all along, did we all forget that Carlito came to us from PTL before it went under!?!

Rowe: I’m not happy about how that match ended, but I think it’s great that the NEW roster has five new talented additions.

Plague: You sicken me, Rowe. Anyways, up next is a match I have been looking forward to greatly.

Rowe: Yes, Tommy Dreamer vs. Rhino, this should be brutal. Tommy Dreamer has been commissioned by Sonny Siaki to end Rhino’s undefeated streak. Can Dreamer do it?

Match Two: Tommy Dreamer vs. Rhino

As you might have guessed, this match is a pure brawl. Dreamer attacked Rhino on his way to the ring, and they brawled around the crowd and ringside for a good five or six minutes before finally entering the ring and having the official bell ring. Once in the ring, Dreamer immediately targets Rhino’s skull with some stiff punches, busting Rhino open in the process. Dreamer unties the padding from a turnbuckle and goes to whip Rhino into it, but the bloodied Rhino counters and Dreamer charges into the steel chest first. Dreamer is in a daze, and Rhino catches him with the GORE! Rhino goes for a cover, but Dreamer gets a foot in the ropes. Rhino positions himself for another Gore, but Dreamer ducks out of the ring. Rhino pursues Dreamer over to the announce desk, where Dreamer grabs a chair and cracks it over Rhino’s skull, earning Dreamer a disqualification loss at 5:23 (11:23 including the pre-match brawl).

Winner by DQ: Rhino, **3/4 (82/85/77)

Rowe: That was an intense war, too brutal for normal match rules to contain!

Plague: Is Dreamer out of his mind? He was supposed to win! He was supposed to end Rhino’s undefeated streak! What’s this world coming to!

Rowe: On a side note, I’d like to send a message of congratulations to Ric Flair, who has just won the NWA: Mid-Atlantic Championship!

Plague: Wow, that is big news. How come he hasn’t gotten any NEW title shots yet?

Rowe: Because he didn’t earn any while he was here.

Plague: Oh.

Match Three: Kid Kash vs. Shark Boy

This match turns out to be the sleeper hit of the night. The live crowd did not get into it too much, but you can bet that there are loads of internet fans online trying to download this one. Shark Boy gets the huge pop from the younger fans that he always gets, and to their delight, gets to control Kid Kash for a large portion of the match. Kash only makes a comeback after flipping Shark Boy over the ropes. Shark Boy’s left foot hits the announce table in one of the scariest bumps seen in recent memory. Shark Boy is half crippled, making him an easy target for Kash, who spends several minutes working the injured leg. Kash goes for the Dead Level, but Shark Boy counters into a school boy, which gets a 1……2……2.9999999! This only angers Kash, who smacks Shark Boy across the face, and hits the Dead Level for real this time. Kash covers Shark Boy for the victory at 9:24.

Winner: Kid Kash, **** (83/69/97)

Rowe: You know, I am getting really tired of Kid Kash’s bad attitude. He may not be the one wearing the costume, but Kash was the real shark during this match.

Plague: How long have you been waiting to break out a stupid line like that?

Match Four: Jushin Liger and Tajiri © vs. The Basham Brothers vs. D'Lo Brown and J.R. Ryder vs. America's Most Wanted (NEW Tag Team Championship)

D’Lo Brown ended up choosing J.R. Ryder, who had offered to be Tajiri’s partner last month at Summerslam, as his partner. This is Ryder’s debut match in NEW. This match actually ends up being surprisingly slow and methodical, considering the participants. Tajiri goes through a rest heavy sequence with Danny Basham, which the crowd did not like a whole lot. Things picked up when D’Lo was tagged in, as he aggressively took the fight to Tajiri. After a few minutes of being overpowered, Tajiri tags in Jushin Liger, who puts D’Lo in his place with some stiff shots. Liger inadvertently tags in Chris Harris, who ends up isolating J.R. Ryder for a while, with him and James Storm making frequent tags. It looks like America’s Most Wanted is well on their way to regaining the belts, when Ryder makes a desperate tag to Doug Basham, who cleans house on AMW. Unfortunately, Storm makes the mistake of tagging in Tajiri, who spits the green mist in Doug Basham’s face, and covers him for the victory at 11:42.

Winners and STILL NEW Tag Team Champions: Jushin Liger and Tajiri, *** (79/77/823)

Rowe: Liger and Tajiri do it again. I’m beginning to wonder if anyone will be able to take those tag titles away from them.

Plague: Well, we know that D’Lo Brown won’t be able to. That was his third straight shot at them.

Rowe: D’Lo has yet to be pinned or made to submit by either Tajiri or Liger. You have to believe that fact is driving them mad!

Plague: Well, up next is Mick Foley vs. Sonny Siaki. I really hope Siaki kicks Foley’s fat ass.

Rowe: This match came about when Mick Foley was outraged that Dreamer, the man who defeated him in Hell in a Cell, was playing the role of Siaki’s toadie. And then Siaki took offense at having that role looked upon in a negative way.

Plague: It is a great honor to be Siaki’s toadie. Foley should be grateful that his rub can lead to such great things.

Rowe: Do you even listen to yourself when you talk?

Plague: I drift in and out.

Match Five: Mick Foley vs. Sonny Siaki

Sonny Siaki is ready for the match, looking confident, until Foley comes out dressed up as Cactus Jack. This throws Siaki off his game, and Foley overpowers him in a brawl. Siaki tries a comeback with a spinning kick, but Foley is on another planet right now. Foley head-butts Siaki into the corner, and chokes at him until the referee pulls them apart. Siaki is fired up, and tackles Foley. Foley fights back by clotheslining both of them over the ropes. Siaki is down, so Foley climbs to the apron and hits a flying elbow drop! Siaki is dead, and Foley tosses him back into the ring to pin him at 6:45.

Winner: Mick Foley, **3/4 (85/89/77)

Rowe: Mick Foley, or should I say, Cactus Jack picks up a decisive victory!

Plague: That was not fair! Siaki was prepared to wrestle fat, stupid, lazy Mick Foley, not evil, sadistic, aggressive Cactus Jack! I demand a rematch!

Rowe: I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of one.

Match Six: Team 3D vs Rob Van Dam and Edge (Tables, ladders, and chairs)

This match is for the copyrights to the “Dudley Boyz.” The paperwork is hanging on a cable, and the first team to climb the ladder and claim the brief case are the rightful owners of the trademarks. Edge and Rob Van Dam make their entrance first. RVD is still dressed up as “Rob Van Dudley.” This turns out to be a mistake, because Team 3D come out pissed off before the match even begins! Team 3D charges the ring, with Brother Ray taking on RVD, and Brother Devon colliding with Edge. Brother Ray and RVD brawl in the ring, with RVD getting the upper-hand, while Devon and Edge knock each other over the ropes. At ringside, Edge grabs a table, and sets it up. He smashes Devon’s head into the announce table to try and weaken him, and sets him up on the table. Edge climbs to the top turnbuckle, and goes to jump off, but Brother Ray runs over and pushes him off in the other direction. Edge lands right on the barricade! RVD attacks Brother Ray, and as revenge, hits a split legged moonsault. Meanwhile. Devon is back up and slumps Edge over the table and climbs up on the barricade. Devon leaps off to land on Edge, but Edge moves out of the way and Devon goes through the table! Edge goes to under the ring, and pulls out a ladder. He rolls it into the ring, and he and RVD begin to double team Brother Ray with the weapon. Edge starts off by charging at Ray and nailing him in the head with the top of the ladder. Then they sandwich Ray in the ladder, and RVD does his rolling thunder spot, landing on top of the ladder and crushing Ray! This hurts RVD as well, so he backs off. With Ray in serious trouble, Edge sets the ladder up and begins to climb. Edge has his hands on the briefcase, when Brother Devon storms into the ring with a chair and cracks it over Edge’s back. Edge slumps over, so Devon positions himself under Edge, and powerbombs him onto another chair he had set up! RVD is back up and attacks Devon, but Ray gets back up too. Ray scoop slams RVD, and directs Devon to climb up the ladder. Devon climbs to the top, but rather than grabbing the briefcase, screams “WAZZZZZUUUUP!” and head dives onto the groin of RVD, who had been held in place by Ray. Victory seems to be in place for Team 3D, but Edge is back up with the chair and nails Devon in the head with it. Ray gets a leg up and kicks the chair into Edge’s face. RVD is back up and hits the Van Daminator on Ray using another chair. RVD takes the ladder and leans it in the corner. RVD climbs it and sits on the top of it, allowing the ladder to land on both Ray and Devon, who are sprawled out in the ring! Edge angrily gets back up, and exits the ring. Edge returns with two more tables, and he and RVD set them up in the ring. RVD then goes and grabs the monster ladder, that was laying in the ringside area, and sets it up in the ring. Edge places both members of Team 3D on a single table, and RVD climbs the monster ladder. RVD dives off the ladder with a five star frog splash, and puts both members of Team 3D through the table! Team 3D is down and out! But then again, so is RVD! Edge climbs the ladder again, this time intending on getting the briefcase. He gets to the top and holds onto the case, but a dazed Devon is back up. He moves the ladder out from under Edge, leaving Edge hanging in the air! Devon then whips the ladder at Edge, causing him to lose his grip and land on the other table that was set up in the ring! Holy shit! Devon, still in a daze, sets the ladder back up and climbs to the top… and grabs the briefcase! Team 3D are now the owners of the “Dudley Boyz” rights again! Brother Ray, in a daze, is on his feet as well, and both brothers celebrate this important win in their storied career. Team 3D have defeated Edge and RVD at 24:24!

Winners: The Dudley Boyz, ****1/2 (93/91/95)

Rowe: Yes! Team 3D are allowed to be the Dudleyz again! For the first time in well over a year, the Dudley Boyz are back to their roots!

Plague: Dammit! I can only imagine that Eric Bischoff is somewhere out back throwing a temper tantrum over this!

Rowe: I sure hope he is. Now exciting as that match was, it is now time for the Boston Harbor Championship!

Match Seven: James Gibson © vs. Ron Killings (Boston Harbor Championship)

This match turns out to be the second sleeper hit of the evening. The crowd is a bit burned out from the previous match, but are still really into this one, considering that it’s face vs. face. Gibson and Killings mesh really well together, and put on a really competitive match for several minutes with neither man gaining any sort of real upper hand. After a bit they begin going for their finishers, as Killings has to escape from the Trailer Hitch on numerous occasions, and Gibson kept narrowly avoiding being caught with the scissors kick. At around the ten minute mark, Kid Kash inexplicably runs in and tries to trip Gibson. Killings, not wanting the interference, slingshots himself over the ropes onto Kid Kash. Even though it was unwanted, Gibson is able to use this distraction to finally catch Killings in the trailer hitch. Killings taps out at 11:34.

Winner and STILL Boston Harbor Champion: James Gibson, ****1/4 (87/79/95)

Plague: Now why in the hell did Kid Kash get involved in this match?

Rowe: It has to be because Kash is not allowed any more shots at the Boston Harbor title while Gibson is champion, since Kash lost three straight shots at the belt. I bet Kash just wanted Gibson to lose the title, so he could challenge for it again.

Plague: That Kid Kash is brilliant!

Rowe: Well, if he keeps this crap up, maybe I’ll just have to say “no more title shots ever” or “you’re fired!”

Plague: You cannot fire Kid Kash!

Rowe: I don’t want to, but I’m not going to stand constant interference in matches that have nothing to do with him.

Plague: Whatever… but now it is time for the big one: the main event.

Rowe: And what a main event it’s going to be! Mid-Atlantic’s Rey Mysterio is the special challenger tonight for Chris Jericho’s NEW Championship!

Plague: But Eric Bischoff has appointed John Bradshaw Layfield as the special guest referee! He is going to make sure that Mysterio cannot bring the NEW title with him to M-A.

Rowe: I don’t know what to expect. JBL is a xenophobic son of a bitch, but he also has reason to be furious with Chris Jericho, who purposefully allowed Mysterio to pin him in that triple threat match last Saturday. In a perfect world, JBL would be an unbiased referee, but what cause will he take tonight? Will his xenophobia overcome his thirst for revenge, or vice versa?

Match Eight: Chris Jericho © vs. Rey Mysterio (NEW Championship)

JBL makes his entrance first, wearing the referee uniform. He does not look happy. Rey Mysterio comes out next, and is cautious to keep his distance from JBL. Next comes Chris Jericho, who has Sonny Siaki with him. Rowe and Plague speculate that the reason Siaki is with Jericho, is to make sure that JBL does not try to pull any fast ones. The match begins, and Jericho and Mysterio tie up. Jericho catches Mysterio in a scoop slam and goes for a cover in the early going. JBL does a normal count, but Mysterio kicks out. Jericho gets in JBL’s face, accusing him of making a slow count. Mysterio catches Jericho off guard with a school boy, and once again JBL does a normal count. Jericho, of course, kicks out, but JBL is being really suspicious with how non-partial he is being thus far. Jericho is angry now, and accuses JBL of doing a fast count this time. Jericho’s paranoia costs him again, as Mysterio drop kicks him from behind and puts him in a leg sweep. Jericho is hung up on the ropes, and Mysterio goes for the 619! As Mysterio is swinging around the ropes, Sonny Siaki takes a shot at him. As a result, JBL orders Siaki to be removed from ringside! Is JBL really being non-partial? Jericho is outraged now, and shoves JBL. JBL shoves Jericho back, and Mysterio goes for another school boy, though unsuccessful. From this point on, the action focuses more on Jericho and Mysterio, as they go through an awesome stalemate sequence. Jericho finally gets an upper hand, and goes for the Wall of Jericho. He gets the hold on, and Mysterio is in big trouble. Mysterio fights and claws his way for several minutes, but he finally makes it to the ropes. JBL counts to four before Jericho lets go of the hold. Jericho begins working the lower back of Mysterio, hoping to soften him up so he won’t last in the walls again. Mysterio finally gains some momentum back, and takes Jericho down with a hurricanrana. Mysterio springboards off the ropes and hits a back elbow on Jericho. Mysterio continues his assault by jumping to the top turnbuckle and hitting a dazzling moonsault on Jericho. Mysterio goes for the cover and it’s 1………2……..2.9999999! Jericho comes back with an enziguri and gets a near fall of his own on Mysterio. Jericho positions Mysterio in the center of the ring again, and puts him back into the Walls of Jericho. Mysterio appears to have passed out, so JBL lifts Mysterio’s arm, only to see it fall to the mat. JBL lifts it again, and once again Mysterio’s arm hits the mat. On the third time, Mysterio shows signs of life, and manages to reverse the pressure of the Walls, and Jericho falls into the ropes. Mysterio this time is able to hit the 619, and follows it up with the West Coast Pop! Mysterio goes for the pin attempt, and this time it’s 1………2……….3?!? Rey Mysterio pins Jericho at 18:25! And JBL called the match completely down the middle!

Winner and NEW Champion: Rey Mysterio, ****1/4 (92/93/93)

Rowe: I cannot believe it! Rey Mysterio is the NEW Champion! This is huge, and… what the hell?!?

What Rowe is referring to is that right after JBL hands the NEW title belt to Mysterio, he hits Mysterio with the clothesline from Hell! JBL follows it up by pounding Mysterio into the corner and stomping at him with his boots, bloodying up Mysterio in the process. JBL then lifts Mysterio up into the air and hits a devastating powerbomb! JBL then picks up a microphone.

JBL: Now I’m sure all of you are wondering what the hell is going on. Why did I call the match down the middle when I hate Mexicans and wrestlers from other territories? Why didn’t I screw Rey Mysterio? Well, before the match, Mysterio came to me with an offer. He said “JBL, I want a fair match. This match means too much to me for you to screw it up. That is why, if you can call the match down the middle, and if I win, I will give you a shot at my NEW title.” So just like that, I, the wrestling God, and the number one contender for the NEW Championship. And you know what else, I want my title shot, next month, at Resistance. At Resistance, I will be the role model to all of those who resist the growing Mexican influence in this great country of ours, and I will resist this feeling that any wrestler from any territory can come into NEW and act like they own the place. America and NEW will be pure, and it will be thanks to me, John Bradshaw Layfield, the greatest NEW Champion of all time!

Rowe: Someone take that microphone away from that madman! JBL is out of control!

Plague: Yes! Finally, someone around here has the balls to speak the truth!

Rowe: Shut the hell up! In no way does New England Wrestling agree with or condone what JBL has said and done tonight! Folks, thank you for tuning in to Manchester Mayhem tonight, though I apologize for what JBL has just said!

Plague: Don’t forget to order Resistance next month, so you can see JBL kick Rey Mysterio’s ass!

The show ends with JBL posing on the ramp way, as Mysterio lays in the ring with the NEW Championship belt draped over him.
