My show won't be up until Wednesday, because I have a takehome exam due on Tuesday and another one on Wednesday, and I just can't bring myself to write a show when those two things are over my head. But it'll be a good one B) Edge challenges Rey Mysterio for the NEW Championship. James Gibson and D'Lo Brown challenge Jushin Liger and Tajiri for the NEW Tag Team Championship. PTL's Matt Sydal, Chris Hero, and Adam Pearce take on Johnny Devine, Brian Kendrick, and Jerrelle Clark. David Young makes his NEW debut against Sonny Siaki! Plus Mick Foley has words of wisdom for Siaki. |

Ultimo Dragon d. Electro Shock Electro Shock makes his return to NWA: Mexico. Dragon made short work of him winning the bout during the first 2 falls. He finished things off with the Asai DDT. *** 72/62/82 Los Barrio Boys d. Charly Manson and Cuervo Alan and Billy Boy continue to rid this sudden wave of momentum as they pick up another win. Next week they'll be in a No. 1 Contenders match against Rey Bucanero and Ultimo Guerrero. This match was a back and forth battle. Things ended when Billy Boy countered a powerbomb from Cuervo and pinned him. ***1/2 76/63/90 Mephisto d. Matt Stryker Mephisto now has to try singles competition since his partner had to check into rehab. Mephisto won the first fall with a splash mountain. Mephisto looking like a tag worker seemed to run out of gas in the second fall. Stryker took advantage and pinned him with a torture rack into a powerbomb. Stryker dominated the third fall. Mephisto stole a win with a low blow and with his feet on the ropes. *** 70/60/80 EZ Money d. Octagon Quick win for Money here. *** 70/60/80 Rey Bucanero and Ultimo Guerrero d. El Hijo Del Santo and L.A. Par-K This was just a fast paced smash mouth match. Guerrero took the first fall with a swinging surfboard on Santo. Par-K and Santo started off fast in the second fall with dives to the outside. Par-K and Guerrero brawled through the crowd as Santo threw Bucanero back into the ring. Santo hit a couple of chops and then hit a superplex to get the pinfall. Par-K threw Guerrero back into the ring and they hit a Doomsday Device to win the fall. The third fall saw brawling all over the building. Santo and Guerrero brawled up the entrance ramp while Par-K and Bucanero brawled around ringside. Par-K countered an attempted piledriver. Things find their way back into the ring. Santo misses a splash in the corner and gets pinned after a neckbreaker from Bucanero. Par-K gets submitted with an armbar to end a great match. ****1/2 91/85/98 Perro Aguayo sit down interview with Joey Styles. Styles: Do you feel discouraged that you lost the title so soon? Aguayo: Of course I do. It makes me look like I was a fluke champion. I try so hard to prove that I don't get special treatment due to who my father was and this is just more fuel for the critics. Styles: What are your plans now? Aguayo: I plan to get a rematch and to win the belt back. Juventud may have beaten me once but I promise that if we get into the ring again that I'll win the belt back. Mexican National Title Match: Juventud Guerrera © d. Halloween Lock up and Juvy gets a wristlock. Halloween escapes with a fist to the face. Juvy hits the ropes but Halloween catches him with a tilt-o-whirl backbreaker. Halloween hits a running senton splash for two. Halloween hits a shoulderbreaker and covers for two. Halloween goes for a knee drop but nobodies home. Juvy gets a quick victory roll to take the first fall. Juvy tries to take the next fall with a 450 splash but Halloween ducks and nails a spear for the three count and ties it up. Halloween goes for a powerbomb but Juvy escapes and hits the Juvy Driver to retain the title. ***1/4 83/84/84 Overall: 77% We got a 2.17 rating for 'NWA Saturday Night'! The attendance level was 7178 people. We made $215340 from ticket sales. |

NEW Saturday Night October 21st 2006 I really love how NEW is confined to New England. It means I get to travel around and do these reports for all the shows! And the arenas are really filling up too, which is exciting. I am thrilled to be a wrestling fan again! Jushin Liger and Tajiri defeated D'Lo Brown and James Gibson to retain the NEW Tag Team Championship! Tajiri actually pinned Brown this time, because Chris Jericho interfered and kept Gibson distracted. This was the last time Brown could challenge for the tag titles since he was pinned this time, and his partner wasn't. Gibson and Jericho got into a pretty heated brawl during this time too, which stole the focus from Brown/Tajiri. I hope the feud ends at Resistance. (87/80/93) Carlito and the PTL Invaders came out to the ring. Carlito cut another promo trying to talk Rob Van Dam into joining them. Carlito claims that RVD cannot trust Eric Bischoff, and that he should come to the group that he can count on. Carlito says that even though he wants RVD in their ranks, he will not go easy on him at Resistance. (78%) Chris Hero, Matt Sydal, and Adam Pearce defeated Johnny Devine, Brian Kendrick, and Jerrelle Clark when Sydal pinned Devine. The match was pretty good, though mostly heatless as these PTL guys are still trying to get over. Devine was out for revenge because the PTL guys hurt Chris Sabin last week, but Sydal ended up suplexing Devine off the top turnbuckle and getting the pin. Sydal looks good heading into his big pay-per-view match against Sabin. (70/57/84) Backstage, Edge cut a promo. He was angry that he did not get a match for Resistance, but it wouldn't matter after tonight. He claims he will take the NEW Championship from Rey Mysterio, will defend it against JBL at Resistance, and proudly walk into Clash of the Champions as the NEW Champ. Edge says that as NEW Champion he will proudly represent this territory, and will work hard to support Bischoff's goals of cleansing NEW of the PTL Invaders. (78%) Sonny Siaki defeated the debuting David Young in a pretty good, competitive match. Siaki sold for Young for a bit, but made a convincing comeback and put Young away with the Siakalypse. Siaki then took a kendo stick from Tommy Dreamer, who was in his corner, and did an unnecessary beat-down on Young. This prompted Mick Foley and Rhino to come out and stop Siaki from going nuts. (72/62/81) Mick Foley cut an interview in the ring, criticizing Sonny Siaki. Foley says that there is more to being hardcore than simply attacking people with weapons. Foley says that you have to take the beating of your life, and even if you don't win, you have to be able to walk out of the arena with your head held up high. Foley does not believe that Siaki is capable of taking such a thrashing, and he promises that in their street fight at Resistance, that even if Siaki wins, he will be leaving the arena in a stretcher. (90%) Rey Mysterio defeated Edge to retain the NEW Championship. The match was really good, with a hot crowd. Mysterio cleanly pinned Edge after a West Coast Pop. Afterwards, Edge threw a temper tantrum, and speared the referee. JBL also attempted to ambush Mysterio, but it backfired. Mysterio saw JBL running to the ring, so Mysterio performed a suicide dive through the ropes and took JBL off his feet. The show ended with Mysterio posing with the NEW Championship. (85/87/84) Another fun show from the good folks at NEW. I am really looking forward to Resistance. Final card for Resistance:

October 21, 2006 NWA: Mid-Atlantic's Saturday Night Flood Commentary with Jim Ross and Commissioner Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 2 Live Kewl def. Fit Finlay and Abdullah The Butcher via Disqualification at 7:12 when Abdullah stabbed Colt Cabana on the forehead with a fork. Finaly then hit Cabana with the shillelagh. *** 80/75/86 Solución Suicida (El Generico, The Human Tornado, and Piloto Suicida) are vowing revenge on The Vampire Warriors. El Generico and Human Tornado leave the locker room and say it's their fight. As soon as they leave, Vampire Warrior and Vampire Fertig jump out of the lockers and attack Piloto Suicida, throwing him in the lockers, busting him open, and going for his neck. Human Tornado and El Generico run back into the locker room and save Piloto Suicida. 56 AJ (Styles-)Daniels goes to the commentators table and talks to Commissioner Heenan. AJ says he was screwed out of his NWA title shot, and deserves a rematch against The Rock. Heenan tells AJ he's already made matches for the next couple of weeks, and he guaranteed Christopher Daniels a title shot at The Harvest. AJ grabs Heenan by the collar and says, "That's more than perfect. I'll take a title shot at The Harvest against both The Rock and Christopher Daniels. When Daniels paid-off The Rock to get himself disqualified in my NWA title match, he screwed me, you, the Mid-Atlantic wrestlers, and all the fans. So, put me in that match at The Harvest - a three-way dance, no disqualification. And, if I don't get this title shot, I'm going to take a shot at you." Heenan then announces AJ (Styles-)Daniels as a second number one contender for the NWA title at The Harvest. 98 Les Bohémiens are backstage. Melina Perez says that they've been granted an NWA: Mid-Atlantic Tag Team title rematch at The Harvest thanks to their assistance from Commissioner Heenan. Chavo Guerrero and Shane Helms challenge The Outsiders to a brawl, "Since that's their kind of match, but we want a brawl here it'll be fair to us, too. Outsiders, you've mocked our life styles. You've mocked our pursuit of love, truth, and beauty. You think it's that easy? Then let's have the brawl in our home, a performance space. And when we win the Performance Space Brawl and win the Tag Team titles, we will be one step closer to achieving truth, beauty, and love." Melina Perez then announces a member of Les Bohémiens gets title shot for the Mid-Atlantic title against Ric Flair because Heenan wants the title belt off of Flair before he leaves at any cost. Melina passes things off to Precious Lucy. Lucy says, "Oh yes, my dearies. I am going to be that select member of Les Bohémiens to fight for the Mid-Atlantic title. Although the others would have been good picks, Mikey Whipwreck and Chris Masters, it is up to her as an actress, and as an actress know the meaning of a pay-off, to beat Flair by any means, including being the First Lady of the Stage and the First Lady of Hardcore." 77 Val Venis and Umaga def. Sting and "The American Hero" Steven Richards at 6:55 when Venis whipped Richards into Sting, knocking him off the ring apron, and hit a running STO on Richards for the pin. **3/4 77/78/76 Mid-Atlantic Title Match Ric Flair © (w/ Randy Orton) def. Precious Lucy (w/ Melina Perez) at 9:27 when Lucy went to hit Flair with a pair of brass knuckles aided by Melina. Flair caught Lucy's wrist, shook hit head and kissed Lucy. As Lucy was in disgust, Orton distracted the referee Tim Robinson, and Flair hit Lucy with the brass knuckles. **1/2 76/77/75 Christian Cage comes out to the ring and calls out Kane. "Things have gotten person too quick. Things need to be done and it'll get done at The Harvest. Kane, it's me and you in a blood bath on the 31st." Upon hearing this, Commissioner Heenan walked into the ring. "No! No! No!" Cage: He broke my frickin' finger! Heenan: Yes, and that's why you won't be wrestling at The Harvest. I don't care if it's a broken finger, an injury is an injury. Cage: Yes, and a rose is a rose is a rose. What's you point? Heenan: The point is you have an injury, and no-one with an injury wrestles. Period. Cage: Whatever you say, Heenan. Kane, I know Heenan is just protecting your undefeated streak until I finally can get my hands on you in a real match. Kane, this isn't over. This isn't over anytime soon. I'm going to get my revenge. You're no longer the hunter, you're the hunted. 98 NWA Title Match The Rock © def. John Cena, Goldberg, and Hulk Hogan at 17:45 when Goldberg speared Cena laying him out, and Hogan hit Goldberg with the Big Boot. The Rock tossed Hogan over the top rope and hit The People's Elbow on Goldberg for the pin. **** 90/97/74 82

NWA Midwest 10/21 British Invasion vs. The Naturals It's a match granted to the Naturals after the Lords of the Ring got a shot at the Brits last week. Much to no one's surprise, the Lords of the Ring interfere by taking out Jim E Cornette, and thus cost the Naturals the match. WINNER: The British Invasion (68/66/86) The stakes don't matter, just the belt does. Chris Benoit is holding the belt in his hands. He puts over his 20 years in the business. He explains that all he ever wanted was to hold the top belt in whatever company he was in. He's done it a few times, but each time it was taken from him before he could enjoy it. He's not going to let that happen, now. Not a chance. This belt is the most important thing in his life, and no one will take it from him. (81) Interstate Title Tourney: Paul London vs. Onyx Paul London comes out sans Cornette, and he's not in his best form. Onyx comes out and is very motivated, and that gets him the win. WINNER: Onyx (58/59/72) Claudio Castagnoli vs. Jimmy Jacobs Jerry Lynn comes to ringside to watch the match. Jimmy is surprisingly good in the match, but Claudio is obviously ahead of Jimmy. Jacobs gets the win, though, after Punk distracts Claudio. WINNER: Jimmy Jacobs (63/53/88) NOTORIOUS A hype video for Clash of the Champions plays, emphasizing Homicide's match with James Gibson and Jay Lethal. They then run down tomorrows big show, including the new 4 way match to determine who will face Benoit for the belt at Clash of Champions (57) IT'S MINE!!! Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring for a match. Before the match starts, Chris Benoit comes out of the crowd and clocks Angle with the belt. He assaults Angle, and holds the belt up over Angle, proclaiming his ownership of said belt. (88) Raven vs. ???? After Benoit walks out, Raven makes his way to the ring, as he and Angle were scheduled for a match. Raven picks up the mic and asks who wants to come out. PERRY SATURN answers the call. Raven looks stunned. Saturn tells Raven that he better have brought his a-game. The two brawl, and Saturn picks up the win with the three ringed moss handled family credenza. WINNER: Saturn (66/77/68) Kennedy & Abyss vs. Funk & Batista It's odd teaming, and it shows. Kennedy makes Abyss do most of the work handling Batista, and then hogs all the glory. Funk takes advantage and beats the tar out of Kennedy. James Mitchell helps Abyss clock Funk in the back, giving Kennedy the pin. WINNER: Kennedy & Abyss (70/80/75) Overall: 69 |
