WWE Smackdown!- King Of The Ring 2005- Semi-Final-Bobby Lashley vs. Mark Henry - This one's not going to be pretty. The general internet reaction to Mark Henry during his 2005/6 run was shockingly positive for the most part. But Lashley is too green to put anything good together with Henry here. Big lockup to start. Henry shoves Lashley to the mat. Second lockup, Lashley gets a top wristlock. Henry shoves Lashley to the counter to break it. Big staredown, Henry swings a punch, Lashley blocks and hammers with a few of his own. Lashley with a stunning kick, several more punches but an attempted bodyslam goes unfound. Henry with some clubbering, and he whips Lashley to the corner. Henry stops to taunt, Lashley pounds his way back into it with a clothesline and some clubbering. Henry shuts him down with a big clubbering clothesline. Cover, for two. Henry continues to control with more boring clubbering. Henry with some stomps, he covers for two. Lashley muscled up and he takes a backbreaker for two. Lashley fights back with some clubbering punches. Henry shuts him down with a headbutt. Henry with a kick to the chest as Lashley's doubled over. Lashley back up, Henry measures him, Lashley ducks and hits the ropes for a clothesline. Another one stuns him and a third one finally takes Henry down. Lashley with a bodyslam, Lashley goes all spastic with a taunt and tries his finish but Henry uses his naturally large ass to block it, and backdrop his way out. Henry now with a charge, Lashley ducks and Henry hits the floor, sliding and striking his head on the announce table. Lashley wins by count out. Uggh... ;) Winner: Bobby Lashley 3/4*- I'll be nice here. This match was doggy poo, but at least Henry wasn't awful. Frankly, this was not the kind of match Lashley needed here. He looked inferior to Henry at all turns and won on a freak accident- that's not the way to build a new star. |

Unknown Promotion (most likely, NWA? AWA?) Kamala (w/General Skandar Ackbar) vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan Duggan jumps all over Kamala with his SLOPPY PUNCHES OF DOOM!!!!! Kamala whipped off, Duggan decks him with a clothesline. Duggan pulls Kamala up for more of his crappy punching. Kamala retreats to the corner, and fires back with some overhand chops. Kamala with more chops, Duggan eats turnbuckle. Kamala continues chopping away. Kamala drags Duggan out and continues the beating. Duggan eats barricade (adn he thinks it tastes good....) Duggan finally fights back with some crappy elbows and then punches away. He continues hammering, Kamala brawls and chops his way back into it. Duggan tossed back in. Kamala does a jumping jack (for no readily apparent reason) and gets nailed with a running shouldertackle. Both guys back up, Duggan slugs and Kamala clubbers and chops. Kamala goes to the eyes and whips Duggan across, and nails a big boot. Kamala with a big splash, Duggan kicks at two... and I cry. Duggan now does a little "Hulk-Up" routine, and slugs away until Kamala shuts him down with a chop. Kamala with more chops on the ropes, the ref tries to pull him off and Kamala chops him too. Duggan slugs back again. Now Ackbar comes in, he holds Duggan but Kamala accidentally chops him. Duggan slugs Kamala to the floor and chases Ackbar off with the three point stance. Winner: "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan -***- Awful, afwul, dangerous, afwul, crappy, craptastic, crap. A long dull boring sloppy brawl with no real wrestling. The scary thing; I'm sure these two have had more matches. One of which was during Duggan's run in WCW..... :( |

You're really punishing yourself with some of these matches, eh? I fully agree on that Lashley/Henry match, as that was probably not the best booking strategy for someone who was heading for the finals. I can sort of understand why they did it though, as they wanted Henry to be a main event level heel for when Batista returned, but they didn't have the pespective that we have now. |

WCW- Saturday Night- TV Title Scott Steiner vs. Ricky Steamboat © Lockup to start, Steamboat gets shoved off. Second lockup, Scott shoves Steamoat. Lockup for a third time and Scott gets a big bodyslam. Steamboat stands back up and takes a second one. Lockup, Scott goes to the sideheadlock. Steamboat shoots him off, goes over the top and gets a dropkick, and another one quickly after. Lockup, Scott gets a go-behind wastelock. Steamboat escapes to the ropes. Lockup, Scott gets another headlock. Steambotat shoots him off, they fight for a hiptoss and Scott winds up tossed to the floor. Steamboat with a bizzarre show of sportsmanship, allowing Scott to get up and come back in at his leisure. Inside we get another lockup, Scott gets driven back to the corner, they break and Scott takes Steamboat into the corner. He breaks clean. Another lockup, they fight over the ropes and Scott gets backed into the corner, Steamboat again breaks clean. Now they're arguing, Scott shoves Steamboat. Steamboat fires back with some chops, Scott answers those with some forearms. Scott takes a whip and a droptoehold. Armbar by Steamboat. Steamboat with more arm work. Backup, Scott whips Steamboat off and catches a shoulderblock, Steamboat covers for two. Backup, Steamboat gets one of his big armdrags and continues his armwork. Up now, Steamboat gets whipped and hiptossed, but avoids a mat attack from Scotty. Back up, Steamboat gets a toehold and another armbar. Back up, whip, reversal and Scott gets an overhead belly to belly. Steamboat back up, and he takes a whip and a backdrop. Scott with a half-Boston crab. Back up again, Steamboat gets whipped in, Scott catches him with a bearhug. Steamboat wrestles his way out and into another armlock. Scott reverses into one of his own. Steamboat catches him with an elbow and clotheslines himself on the ropes after missing a crossbody attempt before spilling out to the floor. Steamboat drags himself back in and Scott catches him in a cradle for the win and to become the new TV champion. Winner: Scott Steiner Rating: **- Pretty solid, but heatless. Face vs. Face matches are usually pretty boring, and this was no real execption. |

Whoa, ** is a step up these days. That rating seems lower than I would have expected from these two back in the day, but I haven't seen this match so I can't really argue it. |

Debut Nitro- Hulk Hogan vs. Big "Bossman" Bubba Rogers This thing looks like its taking place inside of a shopping mall. Is it? This thing is basically a mid-80's WWF match regurgitated for WCW audiences. Lockup, Big Bubba thrown off. Another lockup, Bubba gets his normal headlock with spastic shaking move. Off the ropes, Bubba gets a mid-knee from Hogan. Knucklelock, Bubba gets a kick and some clubbering, and then some more clubbering in the corner. Hogan takes a whip across and gets splashed. Hogan blocks a turnbuckle smash and gets some of his own, as Mongo McMichael refers to him as a "technician". Hogan with some punches, Bubba stops it with an eye poke. Bubba with an uppercut and a backbreaker. Bubba continues his boring clubbering in the corner. Bubba eats boots on a splash attempt a moment later. Bubba tries it again to the same result. Hogan with more punching, Hogan mounts Bubba for some more punches. The referree pulls Hogan off, distracting him long enough for Bubba to get an uppercut to the throat. Bubba hits a running splash as Hogan's bent over the second rope. Bubba now bails to the floor and begins to hassle Jimmy Hart. Hogan follows him with more punching. Hogan choking with his shirt, he mounts Bubba for the ten punch in the corner. Bubba whipped across and he eats a clothesline. Hogan continues his clubbering and then does some eye raking. Hogan with a bodyslam and a couple elbows and then a boot across the face. Hogan continues his clubbering and punching. Bubba fighting back, he gets a bunch of punches and some knees in the corner. Hogan bodyslammed, he eats buckle. Bubba misses a big splash. Hogan keeps punching, and then clotheslines himself right into a "Not The Bossman Slam" for two. Oh shit, He's HULKIN' UP!! Hogan does his usual no-sell, punches, big boot, legdrop routine and gets the academic three. Winner: Hulk Hogan Rating: 3/4*- Nothing but a stock and standard Bossman/Hogan match. They've had plenty like it in the WWF, and this was really no different. Take it or leave it. Hulk Hogan vs. Big Bubba Rogers- WCW Nitro |

WCW- Saturday Night Oz vs. Scott Sandlin It amazes me that Mr. Politics himself, Kevin Nash would ever put up with such an awful gimmick. But, you gotta start somewhere right? Scott (Sandlin, not Steiner) tries a quick attack of jobber punches. The Oz-man shuts him down with a clubbering blow, and a headbutt. Oz gets a big boot. Oz with some knees in the corner, and right now Sandlin's wishing he could ask the wizard for a chance in Hell of winning this match, or a brain for signing the contract. Sandlin bealed out of the corner, Oz stalks him and bodyslams him. Sandlin whipped in and he eats a boot. Side-suplex from Sandlin as he wins it with a sunset flip following an ace crusher!!!!!!! Just kidding, Oz continues beating on him. Oz with some choking. Oz finishes it, mercifully I should add, with an airplane spin Razor's Edge slam. Winner: Oz Rating: DUD- A pretty boring sqaush. That's it. Oh and by the way, if anyone could upload the Ron Simmons/Oz match from The Great American Bash 1990, I'd be amazingly happy. I'd like to review it, and I heard its God awful. ECW Cyberslam 1998- TV Title- Taz © vs. Brakkus Don't even begin to ask me the story behind this one. Brakkus is a WWF contracted wrestler (or was at the time, at least) and Taz is ECW's TV champion. So yeah, lets get to it?...... To start Brakkus walks to the center of the ring and draws a line in "the sand" with his boot. Taz charges, and shoots into an armbar position. Taz pulls Brakkus up and sqaures away with some sick looking crossfaces. Back up, Brakkus reverses a whip and gets a nice looking powerbomb. Now, Droz of all people, brings a table into the ring and sets it up in the corner. Brakkus gets another powerbomb and muscles Taz into an over the shoulder powerslam. Taz slips out and T-bones Brakkus through the table. Taz gets some stomps, a whip is reveresed and Brakkus gets a military press. Taz slips behind and nails a German suplex and locks in the Tazzmission for the submission win. Winner: Taz Rating: *- I can't beleive I'm saying this but, I actually would've liked that to be a little longer. I'm a Taz mark, but even having said that, these two just kind of "clicked" for five minutes. I dug it. Taz vs. Brakkus- TV Title Match- ECW Cyberslam |

WCW Monday Nitro 9/30/96- Arn Anderson w/Woman vs. Chris Jericho Lockup to start, they jockey for position and Jericho breaks clean in the corner. Anderson with a single arm fireman's carry, Jericho counters out with a head scissor. Anderson wrestles out and they're back to standing. Lockup, Anderson with a headlock, he transitions into an armbar. Jericho gets one of his own, Anderson elbows out, charges and takes a drop toehold. Jericho with a leg lock. Anderson gets to the ropes. Both men are back up, another lockup and Jericho gets an armwringer, Anderson counters into one of his own. Jericho once again counters out into his own. Jericho nails a couple of kicks, doubling Arn over with the armlock first. Jericho continues to work the armlock. Anderson backs him to the ropes and gets in a few shoulderblocks to break it. Anderson with some punches, we go to the back to see Miss Elizabeth watching on. When we get back Jericho avoids a clothesline and nails a standing sidekick. Anderson bails, Jericho fakes him out with a dive and gets a shoulderblock from the apron. Woman walks up to Jericho and slaps him as he and Arn make their way up. Anderson gets some pounding in. Jericho eats some steps. Jericho tossed back in, Anderson gets a kneedrop. Jericho gets choked on the ropes. Anderson with a bodyslam, he heads to the second rope and takes a dropkick to the face. Back up, Anderson swings, Jericho avoids and gets some shots of his own, ending his flurry with a jumping back kick for two. Both men back up now, Anderson takes a whip and a backdrop. Anderson bails, but not far enough, Jericho gets his springboard shoulderblock. Off the top, Jericho hits a backelbow for a long two. Jericho with a stomp to the head, he tries for the Lionsault, Anderson avoids. Jericho's stunned, Anderson quickly spikes him with a DDT for the win. Winner: Arn Anderson Rating: **1/2- Very solid match. Jericho got a ton of offense in, playing the great plucky babyface who was trying everything he could to pull off what would've been the biggest win of his career. Anderson sold everything perfectly and really made Jericho look good here. Just a very solid match. Arn Anderson vs. Chris Jericho- WCW Nitro 9-30-1996 |
