Went to the Rockies/D-Backs game, last night, on a whim. They had a special $1 ticket promotion for their shitty Rockpile seats (usually $4). Bleacher seats WAY up above centerfield. Scalpers bought 'em all up and were selling them on the street for 5-10 bucks each. In a normal game, I typically ask the street scalpers for outfield seats..and they'll usually have something in the actual OUTFIELD for about 10 bucks a piece. But last night was apparently asshole night, as several scalpers were calling their Rockpile seats "outfield" and selling them for $10. |

Gotta love the scalpers. The ones in Cincy always barter with me, and I always end up with seats better than the ones I started with |

I think Harang is about to find his stride, I'd give him a few more games before making any decisions on him. Now Dusty Baker, that's a different story. Get him and his toothpicks out of town |

They need to keep Harang around, just because in all interviews I've heard with him he sounds like the biggest nerd in MLB. So after a fan rushed the field in Philly and got tazed by cops, fans the next night were chanting "Use the Taser" (or maybe it was "We Want Tasers" clap..clap.. clap-clap-clap). |

The Tampa Bay Rays designate DH Pat Burrell for assignment. It is morning again, in America. |

Rockies re-signed Kaz Matsui to a minor league contract. He of October 2007 DWB Banner fame. Bit of a reach, but Kaz hasn't done doodly-squat when he's not in a Rockies uniform. In a perfect world, Kaz reverts to his 2007 form and replaces Clint Barmes at 2B. Oh, also went to the Cardinals/Angels game in St. Louis last Friday. Highlight was Joel Piniero putting the #8 man on to load the bases and pitch to Brad Penny. Penny then proceeded to line a HR down the left field line for a grand slam. Next day, saw the Royals/Rockies game in Kansas City. They had a pre-game softball exhibition pitting Old Guys From the 1985 World Series Who are Still Alive and Not Coaching in the Minors (minus George Brett). I brought a few old timey Royals and Cardinals cards to get autographed, since softball games are usually pretty easy and accessible for fans. But nope... the gimmick was that they wanted you to pay $85 bucks (or some crazy amount) to watch the ensuing Royals/Rockies game in the "Hall of Fame" suite with all the oldsters. Too much like prostitution for my tastes. I don't think my 1981 Dennis Leonard baseball card needed a signature THAT bad. The Royals are all about selling "memorabilia", it seems. In their "Hall of Fame" store, they were selling random game-used balls from the last few seasons. Worthless shit like: "Billy Butler 4-3 groundout during a 3-9 loss to the Twins from July 2009". For about $50-150 each. Highlight of the actual GAME was the dude behind us who would shout "Don't Mess With Da' Jesus!!" whenever David DeJesus got a hit. |

I verified it, but both games I saw were NOT "the Greatest Night in the History of Our Sport". If you're ever concerned about such a fact, just visit the Tony Schiavone Minor League Baseball Blog!! |

Cheap Ass Sale of the Year The Marlins, always looking for ways to make money, are selling unused game tickets from Roy Halladay's perfect game (presumably about 40,000 will be available). Making money from something the OPPOSING TEAM did. So you can get tickets to a game you never attended! Heck, don't stop there. Smear some dirt on each ticket, add 100 bucks to it, and proclaim it as having "Authentic Roy Halladay Perfect Game Mound Dirt Smudge" from the game. Or place a water drop on each and proclaim them as "Authentic Roy Halladay Perfect Game Perspiration Drip". |

I was thinking the same thing. Fucking Marlins will do anything to make a buck, but not spend it on the team. What's the payroll this year, 10 million euros? |

Ken Griffey Jr. announced his retirement. Not too surprising. It was hard watching him against Rays, whiffing at everything within 2 feet of the strike zone, doing anything to get a hit. |

Armando Galarraga was ROBBED!!!!! The Tiger broadcasters acting like it's the end of the universe. Miguel Cabrera was giving it to the umpire the whole time after it. For the record, he was out. It wasn't even a could've gone eithr way play, either. |

He was out by half a step. In the umpires defense, though, it looked like his angle may have been the worst to judge by. MLB network coverage is calling it a tragic error. Funny, since they said the same about the ump calling two balks on Mark Buerhle a week ago |

To cite a terrible example... Anibal sanchez's no hitter against Arizona a few years back had the same play in the same situation, except the runner was clearly safe, and the ump still called it an out. Sometimes you just give it to the pitcher in these cases. |

The Orioles, like usual, fired their manager again. They've now found Juan Samuel to take the helm. |
