I am a Jets fan (not a diehard like I am with the Yankees in baseball)

With all of their late game heroics, I really feel they are going all the way this year.

A very balanced team, and most of the offseason signings/trades have worked out, Cromartie, Tomlinson, Holmes, Taylor, etc

Sanchez has improved, he's not nearly an elite QB yet (may never be) but considering he is in his 2nd year, he's pretty good

Next Monday night's game at the Patriots will tell more though, as they've been beating the creampuffs lately

Wow the Jets got the tar beat out of them last night

I know it's only one game, but I am not nearly as confident as the Jets going all the way anymore

Not that the Broncos were ever front-page national sports news on a regular basis... but when Mike Shanahan got fired less than two years ago, it was pretty big news. Now, Josh McDaniels is canned and it gets a crawl on ESPN. Just shows how irrelevant they've become, so quickly.

Among his guffaws, McDaniels is getting a LOT of flack for dumping Peyton Hillis. But to justify it, Hillis had fumble-itis in early 2009 and had the mindset of "hit pile to gain yards". He would run east-west a few extra yards if it meant he could hit a pile. While he's not afraid of contact as a Brown, he's no longer foolishly LOOKING for it, as he did in 2008-2009 while a Bronco.

But everything else? Hang McDaniels out to dry. He's now set the bar for Shittiest Bronco Coach of the modern era, making Wade Phillips' 93-94 tenure look impressive. At least guys like Mac Speedie or John Ralston had the excuse of: "we didn't have shit to work with". McDaniels had just about EVERYTHING to work with: top-level QB, WR, DE and an OL..and he blew it all to hell.

There is a lot of talk in NYC of Tom Coughlin being fired if the Giants do not make the playoffs

What do you think? I am Jets fan so it does not matter much to me, but it's a tough one. He led them to the Super Bowl two years ago, but they tanked badly this season at the end of this season (though to be fair they had alot of injuries at WR and the Offensive Line) The debacle against the Eagles 2 weeks ago was inexcusable though. Last season they tanked in the 2nd half also

That's a tough stance for the Giants to take. They don't really have THAT great of a team that the coach could be held responsible for their shortcomings. But Coughlin can have an abrasive personality, so I'll say he gets fired if they don't make the playoffs.

Before the season started they were not expected to be a playoff team and if they had wound up 9-7 or 10-6 with no playoffs, don't think he would have been fired

But when you are 6-2 at the midway point and then 9-4 with 3 games left and up by 21 points in the 4th quarter in Game 14 with the division lead on the line and blow that game and then not make the playoffs (as of now before Game 16) then you can be fired pretty easily especially after last year's debacle

I don't keep up with the coaching staff changes, but maybe give Coughlin another year with new defensive coordinators or something. Their defense has been atrocious most of the season, and of course, the Eagles debacle can also be credited to Eli tanking, too.

Defensive Coordinator is in his first year

They fired the last defensive coordinator after one year, I doubt they will do that 2 years in a row

I don't know what people want from the guy. The team is a mess player wise. Eli is garbage though. The guy has been in the league how long and he still threw 24 picks this year. The issue with the team is that the defense isn't that great and if you can hit Eli a few times early, he's going to throw 3 or 4 picks that game. Those are hard issues to pin on the coach if you ask me.

I can't think of any real instances in the last few years where Coughlin's coaching has really cost them a win.

He's not going to be fired

Owners said even if they had lost the final game, he still would have been back next year

The Raiders are talking about firing Tom Cable. WHAT?!?! He should be given a medal for getting that terrible team to 8-8 this year.

The Raiders having a good season should give him Coach of the Year status, not a pink slip. I don't think they've been worth half-a-crap since being humiliated by Tampa Bay at Super Bowl... uh... long time ago.

The Raiders were 29-83 between their Super Bowl appearance and this season. This is the first time they won more than 5 games.

In a move that was more PR than anything else, the Broncos brought back John Elway as "Chief Football Executive". I loved Elway, but he never struck me as a cerebral guy. Good instincts and "street smarts" so to speak, but not "book smart". So I'm guessing the job is basically a right hand man for owner Pat Bowlen. Bronco fans would cut off their testicles if Elway told 'em it was a good idea.

The Denver Post ran a question by their readers:"How would YOU fix the Broncos?" The overwhelming favorite was: "make the orange uniforms the #1 jersey and bring back John Elway". Yes, because ugly ass orange jerseys and a 49 year old guy at a desk will help with that shitty defense, lame o-line, weak runningback corps and horrible play-calling.
