I think Robinson Cano's the key. If he keeps up what he's been doing the last 2 or 3 years, then you don't have to worry (too much) about Jeter declining. In the past, when Jeter was in his prime they had lesser production from 2B, so it's sort of a reversal there. Which just reminded me of Chuck Knoblauch (and to a lesser extent, Luis Sojo). Regardless, if the Yankees are in 2nd or 3rd (or even 1st) in mid-July, they'll make some trades per their usual MO. |

Chuck Knoblauch. He just seemed to lose it over-night when he came to New York, his most memorable moment being when he watched a ground ball roll past first, arguing with the ump, while the winning run scored. This might've been the serie with Cleveland in 1998 ALCS, but I dont remember for sure. |

Martin has gone from being a statistically decent catcher to a really shitty one. And he always tailed off during the season. I had him on more than one fantasy team and his second halfs were always weak. At starting pitching. You have CC Sabathia. Sorry, that's it. Phil Hughes is not a great starter. He's average at best. Burnett is a train wreck and then you have a bunch of no namers in there. The bullpen is utter shit. You better hope Rivera can put in a lot of 2 inning saves this year because the guys in front of him aren't going to protect any kind of a lead that isn't already a blowout. Then you have the outfield. Brett Gardner isn't a power hitter and my honest opinion is you need power from the corners. Swisher and Granderson are really streaky and neither are great defensive players in the field. The infield is a mess. Teixeira's product is trending downwards. Jeter is a liability on defense now and I think his numbers are going to continue to decline. A-Rod is in decline production wise as well. Cano is the best hitter in the lineup now. Posada and Jones at DH is bad too. I mean they really signed Andruw Jones? Really? |

How could you possibley say the bullpen is utter shit? You have Rivera, Soriano, Robertson, Chamberlain and Feliciano as your Top 5 relievers That is one of the best bullpens in baseball And Tex is not on the decline. That is ridiculous While I agree with Swisher being streaky and a bad defensive player, Granderson is good in the field (yes he is streaky also). Sure Gardner has no power, but he is a great fielder and one of the fastest players in the game Posada is fine as the DH, if he was still the catcher that would be bad. Martin had two down years, but he is still better than posada would have been as catcher I agree with you on the starting pitching, except for Hughes. He is better than average, not saying he is great, but he is good Jeter unlike most Yankees fans, I have always thought he was overrated ARod may have had a down year, but it was still a very good year, just not an average ARod year The Yankees will make the playoffs this year, the Red Sox on paper have the best team in the AL east, but Yankees will at least be a wild card. |

It was 1997 not 1998, the Yankees won the World Series from 98-00 as well as 96 |

My opinion is they ruined Chamberlain by jerking him around between starter and bullpen. On the rest of the pen. I don't trust Soriano. I never have and I never will. He is a constant implosion waiting to happen on the mound. The other two are okay. Martin has 3 decent years and 2 shit years. I think it's hard to have faith in the guy to bounce back. |

You are right I had the WS winning years right and I thought that the Knoblauch mental error was in the year they lost. But it was 98 |

I agree Chamberlain was ruined, but let's be realistic, he had one great half season and a good playoff series and everyone assumed he was on this way to a great career The rest of the bullpen I disagree with you though Martin is still better than 2/3s the catchers in baseball. |

In a "Lesser Note" department, Jody Gerut calls it a career citing a lack of desire to play and not wanting to hang around to collect a paycheck. As much of a Quadruple A player he is, I have to respect anyone that can walk away with an honest opinion of themselves and their passion to play. |

The Duke had a monster Strat-O-Matic year for me once. .288, 24 HRs and 88 RBIs. He had a pretty weak card that year but he did well. |

Didn't realize he played for the Mets and Giants. I guess with old timers like him, it's not usually something promoted... Seriously, who wants to remember Willie Mays was a Met? |
