Straight from Bing Crosby's basement, it's the original complete telecast of Bill Mazeroski's walk-off Series-winning heroics. Pretty much the Holy Grail of MLB footage, so I'm quite thrilled to see it.

I was always pissed that, during the 2002 World Series, fans voted on "greatest MLB moments" and this game was not in the top 10. While crap like Pete Rose getting a hit was. Of my personal "Top 10 list", I'd rank this among the top 2; right next to Lou Gehrig's retirement speech.

It airs at 8pm ET, plus a re-run at 1am.

Okay...tuned in and my enthusiasm was prompted crushed by Bob Costas interviewing a buncha' oldsters (and Franco Harris) in a studio audience. An intro or "pre-game" show of said crap would've been perfectly acceptable. But to have these ridiculous discussions about the price of hot dogs and programs EVERY INNING?! Next time just slice my balls with a knife dripped in lemon juice.

The game itself:
-I liked how the guys seemed to whip their arms across their bodies; almost in a side-arm fashion; when making a throw to first or back to the infield.

- Also thought the footage was clipped-- as I thought: "there's no way the pitches are coming in at that rate"-- but there was no clip job, as guys really DID work that fast. No wonder the "complete game" is such a rarity these days. In the 60's, you could potentially throw one in about 90 minutes.

-Color TV has to be in the top 10 inventions of the 20th century. Whenever a fly ball was hit into right field, it was nearly impossible to see it on TV, thanks to the sunlight.

-A lot of the guys looked awkward and... "normal". Don Hoak and Smoky Burgess looked like geezers who should be centered around a poker table.

-It was also a little tough to watch the broadcast with the recurring crawl about Bob Feller's death. I was originally planning to record this on DVD-R disc, but I think I'm better off waiting for a commercial MLB DVD release of the game.
