It's my favorite time of the year, baseball season, and much like the the melting of snow to signal the start of spring, making insane predictions with no real thought putbehind them regarding the next baseball season is my coming of spring ritual.

AL East:
Winner: Boston Red Sox
The rotation is deep, the bullpen isn't too shabby, and the lineup is greatly improved. The only downside is the injury history, and 2010 is proof that even a 200 mil. payroll can be plagued with injuries. Still, for a team like that, they didn't die off, staying in the hunt all last season.

2. Tampa Bay (call me a homer, but they WILL be good. I can feel it)
3. New York (old lineup, poor rotation, questionable bullpen other than the 8 and 9 spot)
4. Baltimore (Buck will have them winning possibly 80 games)
5. Toronto (will be the best last place team in baseball)

AL Central: Minnesota Twins
They always are written off as not being playoff caliber, and always find a way to surprise everyone, even when the M&M boys are hit with injuries more often than Carl Pavano circa 2006.

AL West: Texas Rangers
I don't see that much of improvement from any of the other teams, and even without Lee, the Rangers have pretty much the same team that went to the World Series.

AL Wild Card: Tampa Bay
The bullpen is up in the air, but the rotation is strong and the lineup is better than last year. Rememeber, last year the Rays scored the 4th most total runs while boasting possibly the worst team batting average. They now how to get the runs across, but need to learn to pace it out better than 11-2 and following it with three games of losing 3-1, 2-0, and 2-1.

NL East: Philadelphia Phillies
Like the Yankees fro 1998-2007 and Braves from 1991-2005, I'm picking the Phillies until the season AFTER they don't win the division. Oh, an because they have the best rotation this side of the early 90's Braves.

NL Central: Milwaukee Brewers
A real wild card division. I'm not in love with the Reds repeating their success, the Cubs have too many question marks, the Cardinals were dealt a huge blow losing Wainwright for the season, the Astros are rebuilding, and the Pirates are the Pirates. I'm giving the division to the Brewers, but they won't break 90 wins.

NL West: San Francisco Giants
Outside of losing the World Series MVP, basically the same team, and none of the other teams in the division improved much, if at all.

NL Wild Card: Atlanta Braves
I don't follow the NL like I do the AL, so it's hard to disect why one of a possible 4 or5 teams might win. I'm just going with the first team that stands out in my mind. If not the Braves, then maybe the Marlins, I guess.

Pittsburgh Pirates prediction: 72 wins, another losing season, obviously.

I don't try and bother doing pre-season individual awards, so I'll wait til mid-season for something like that.

No way the Rays after all the talent that left are better than the Yankees

On paper the Red Sox are better than the Yankees, but the Yankees are the best team in the AL after the Red Sox

Yes the starting pitching is thin, but they still have one of the best lineups in MLB and the bullpen may be the best in the majors

Phillies should be the best team in the NL.

72 wins would be a HUGE improvement for the Bucs. Thank you.

My shitty predictions:

AL East: Red Sox

Al Central: Detroit Tigers
Bit of a weird pick, but I actually like their pitching. Mainly Scherzer and Porcello behind Verlander. I don't think having Brad Penny around is a bad thing, either.

AL West: Texas Rangers
Although I'm always tempted to pick the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in California of the United States. But this year I think they'll hover around .500 again.

AL Wild Card: Tampa Bay Rays
Significant re-shuffling of the bullpen, but I think it's just re-loading with slightly different ammo. I don't expect Manny and Johnny Damon to lead the team, but they will help.

NL East: Philadelphia Phillies
Can they survive the loss of Jayson Werth?! Uh, yeah. But I always feel that Chase Utley is the key to their offense. If his injuries linger, then I could see the frickin' Braves (or even the Marlins) taking this division.

NL Central: Milwaukee Brewers
Seem to be putting all their eggs in the 2011 basket. Not a bad idea. Milwaukee's been hovering amongst the top 6 in the NL since 2007, so this could be their year.

NL West: Colorado Rockies
I think this might be first time I've seriously picked them to win the division. Feel free to dig up past threads and prove me wrong. I think I usually go with Dodgers or Giants. Rockies had a pretty good second half...until they tanked in the final three weeks in a showing that would've made Jim Leyland's 1999 squad look impressive. I've given up on Dexter Fowler, but I'm pretty intrigued by Johnathan Herrera this year. And they still have the three O's (Cargo, Tulo and Ubaldo) and the humidor.

NL Wild Card: St. Louis Cardinals
Despite what stiffs Tony LaRussa has to work with, the team always seems to contend. Pujols is also banking on this year to land him the biggest contract in MLB history. That could be dangerous.

Yankees will find a way to win the AL East. Too many people make a big deal over them not getting Cliff Lee. Lee wasn't on the team last year either. The only loss to their pitching staff was Andy Pettite and yes that is a big deal

AL East - Yankees

AL Central -

AL West - I guess the Rangers though it's kind of by default as the other teams are not that good

AL Wild Card: Red Sox. I know they are 0-4 as I type this, but on paper they have alot of talent

NL East - Phillies easily even with Utley being hurt

NL Central - The Reds should win

NL West - You would think the Giants considering they won the WS last year, but I am going to go with the Padres

NL Wild Card - Cubs (call it a hunch)

AL Champs: Yankees

NL Champs: Phillies

WS Winner: Yankees of course
