I think it's obvious that the Brewers are going to roll the D-Backs. Yankees/Tigers is interesting. I kind of feel that the Yankees are in trouble with the series at 1-1. The rain suspension really benefited them in Game 1. I think this is going to go down to the wire and if the Yankees really put Burnett on the mound as a starter, they lose this series. I think the Rays are going to beat the Rangers. Just too much pitching. I think we're looking at a Rays/Phillies rematch this year. |

While I still think Philly is going to advance, St. Louis is putting up a better fight than I thought, especially a must-win, come from behind in Game 2 to even the series going back to St. Louis. Tampa/Texas is still interesting to me... if David Price pitches like he can, then they might win the series, but he has NOT been clutch since ALDS Game 7 in 2008, and he totally choked in Game 162 this season. |

Nice math skills... there's a 50/50 chance a team might win the series after going 1-1, especially on the road, during a division series. One writer must've had very little material to work with here. |

Yeah, that might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen a writer try to act like was a significant stat. |

For once, someone on ESPN made a valid point, regarding the Rays. Our catching situation has been very weird all season, with John Jaso handling a lot of games, Kelly Shoppach doing plenty of catching too, then using a september call up a little too much (Lobaton?). Jaso is penciled in to play tonight, probably because of a right-handed pitcher going for Texas, but Price's stats come across as prettier when Jaso catches him rather than Shoppach. Neither is an elite catcher, but I don't consider either to be a bad game caller, either, but maybe Price is to Shoppach like A.J. Burnett was to Jorge Posada. Just doesn't click. (that's combatability comparison, not ability or offensive statistics) Sorry, I just REALLY hope Price delivers tonight, and I'm trying to think of anything to explain his short-comings in big games lately. Maybe they should've kept Navarro after all. :P Just kidding, but the catcher position is easily the weakest part of the Rays roster, and I don't think there's any high caliber prospects waiting in the wings, either. I guess that means next year it's going to be Jaso/Lobaton (or maybe Chirinos, at least thats what I think his name is) with Shoppach's contact coming up, and I doubt the Rays will pay him for some pretty lackluster numbers, outside of a pretty hot streak to end this season. |

Great googly-moo...watched the last three innings of the Cards/Phils last night and figured it'd be about 30 minutes, tops. I forgot all about Tony LaRussa and his love for the bullpen and the double-switch. Before I knew it, it was coming up on well over an hour. I have nightmares that the Cards will acquire Rafael Betancourt and I'm forced to watch every game. On the Cardinals home broadcast feed, no less. With Al Hrabosky's bullshit constantly in my ear. Then I wake up, screaming, and realize I'm about 800 miles away safe for awhile. |

If you really thought 3 innings would take only a half hour, that's crazy That means a 9 inning game would only take an hour and a half |

CC sabathia was awful tonight and Derek Jeter failed in the clutch again For a guy that is supposedly Mr Clutch and has over 3,000 career hits, he strikes out way too much with runners on base AJ goes tomorrow. all I can say is I hoped Posada was left off the roster and he has done well. Hopefully AJ can surprise me just the same |

Yes, I am crazy and my incorrect statement about time completely ruins my point. |

He's never deserved that title. I always found it amusing that A-Rod wasn't clutch in a lot of those years they failed in the playoffs but his statline was usually better than Jeter's. I think Jeter earned that rep because of his crowd dives in his younger days. |

I'm not a Yankees fan by any means. But if they lose tonight, someone needs to lose their job. How are you in an elimination game and you're putting AJ Burnett on the mound? Your whole series is on the line and you're throwing that out there? Just a side note. 21 pitches thrown in the first inning. |

The only thing you can hope for is the best, and any Yankee fan needs to be as optimistic as possible. I know it sounds sappy, but sometimes you have to believe, and right now, I'm holding out hope that Burnett keeps the Yanks in there for 5-6 innings. |

He pitched the best game he has since Game 2 of the WS I just bought two tickets to game 5. First time I am going to a series-ending playoff game. Good seats and I thought it would cost at least 50% more than I paid I went to one playoff game last year and that was in the ALCS in the game where Cliff Lee manhandled them It will be different Thursday |

I am not nearly as big a Jeter fan as most Yankees fans (even when he was a great player in the mid to late 90s and early 00s). But the clutch tag: Part of it is the diving in the stands. There was the Mr November home run. There was the behind the back throw to nail Jeremy Giambi at the plate against the A's. But as he has gotten older he strikes out way more than he used to. His defense is still solid in the sense he will make all the routine plays but his range is minimal now. And I hate to say it but the at bat before when Gardner worked a walk, I was like fuck I would rather he swang than Jeter coming up. I "knew" he would strike out But tonight, he got the Yankees on the board first with a 2 run double. And that was big. |

The rain delay fucked up the rotation, otherwise CC would have went on 3 days rest tonight and AJ would have been in the bullpen. Then again Verlander would have pitched game 4 also But I felt before the series started Colon should have been on the team and not Burnett and Colon should have been a 4th starter I even felt Hughes should have gotten the start over AJ It worked out though, AJ pitched better than either CC or Garcia did. |
