I guess calling him the Kooz-Man isn't appropriate for cable television? :P

Not sure what to think of Josh Hamilton throwing his third base coach under the bus after his latest injury. I mean, the coach (Dave Anderson) isn't the one who crashed his arm into homeplate. But at the same time, you're always taught to listen to your base coaches.

Regardless, I'd say this tags Hamilton as definitely being "injury-prone", now.

I appreciate the Rangers for playing hard, but...

Seriously, who tags from third, when the ball is caught near third? I'm sure the catcher out of position running 15-20 feet from home is going to beat the runner that's 90 feet away. The third base coach made a terrible decision in giving Hamilton the go-ahead nod, but Hamilton is equally dumb for not using his better judgment in not running, and for belly-flopping into home the way he did.

Watching the 10am (12ET) Rockies/Mets game on MLB Network right now. Big high-five to MLBN for NOT blacking this out in Denver.

Y'know, with Jason Giambi getting more starts due to Todd Helton's back acting up again... I'm wondering if a new 1B by July is a possibility. Considering they're contending, of course. Heck, if Pujols is still uncommitted to the Cards and seems like he'll be somewhere else in 2012, why couldn't the Rox dump prospects and someone like Esmil Rogers for 3 months of Pujols? Pretty much a pipe dream, since I have a feeling Pujols and the Cards will come to terms.

Still, I'd like to see an improvement at 1B. Moving Ty Wigginton or Ian Stewart there, full-time, doesn't seem like a great idea. No real solutions at Triple A, either. Helton's had a great run and is "Mr. Rockie" as far as I'm concerned, but he's had these recurring back problems for over 3 years now.

All right...these Mets commentators just pissed me off. They're saying, of the Rockies: "they've already had one snow-out, this year... and there's more snow in Denver, right now".

No. It was a rainout. And our "snow" that fell last night was more rain (with snow on the grass, that melted by 9am). Shocking, I know. So in that regard, the Mets have had just as many "snowouts" as the Rockies have had this year.

But, nice doubleplay Jose Reyes just turned. Rockies are hitting well, but can't get anyone across the plate.

A local television station is advertising the Rays home stand... against the Orioles and Angels. The one that opened the season.

Did I step into a weird time warp or something that brought me back in time, a la Zelda: Majora's Mask? Can we replay all these games now?

Mets lose a doubleheader today and now are 4-9 and have the 2nd worst record in the NL. Red Sox at 2-9 have the worst record in baseball. Yankees are tied for 1st place in the AL East. Here's to hoping the Red Sox get the #1 pick in the draft and the Mets the #2 pick

Today's Jackie Robinson Day, so MLB officially promoted their new (I think it's new) website: I am 42.

Some decent stuff on there, including video clips from Rachel Robinson, Hall of Famers and current big leaguers.

The Rays have won three in a row. It's called a winning streak. It has happened before.

Dewayne Staats is usually pretty calm except for the shittiest of calls, but he just went OFF on Manny and steroids in particular, seemingly out of nowhere, including the following (not the exact quote, but close)

"We're better off without the Bonds and McGwires and Sosa's who were juicing up to hammer balls out of the park, so good riddance to them. The game is better off getting these cheaters out of the game... but that's a different story"

Then Brian Anderson chimes "and they were padding up their numbers against me." B.A. has a good sense of humor and his response was purely for comedy. He's the first to admit he wasn't an elite status pitcher.

Cincinnati pitcher Mike Leake was arrested for shoplifting. T-shirts totalling around $60. From Macy's.

Do you think he has an excuse, or is he going to blame it on a phantom bout of kleptomania? Just an odd occurance, at the least.

More bullshit from a random writer thinking he's solved Coors Field:

Coors Field Survival Guide

He claims to have spoken to Rockies coach Bob Apodaca...and got the advice that pitchers should maintain a good supply of saliva to keep their fingers moist.

Either Bob Apodaca is the biggest dumbshit in the Mountain Time Zone and hasn't learned anything in his 8 years here, or the writer's making this up. The point is: in Colorado you do not keep your fingers moist by licking them on washing them. You do it with lotion. Licking or washing your fingers just makes them dry up all the faster.

The way this writer tells it, EVERYBODY who has ever lived at or above 5,000 feet is in danger of their lives. "Every pitch in the high altitude of Coors Field is harder to make and more taxing for Rockies like Jorge De La Rosa". He then goes on to detail how it's such a strain for every motion you make.

If this were true, then people in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, etc would be dying in their late 40's at an alarming rate. Here's the thing: YOUR BODY ADJUSTS. For instance, when I venture outside Colorado, I do NOT feel any effects, positive or negative, when I leave or return. This holds true for ...oh, pretty much EVERY Denver resident I've talked to in 30+ years.

This is like me writing a column "on the dangers of humidity" and how all pitchers on the East Coast and Midwest have to work extra hard, since all that humid air can tax their lungs!

To replace some of his bullshit, I would throw out that it'd be a good idea for pitchers to remain in Denver, year round, so their bodies adjust. Yes, they'll have to travel during the season, but by spending a good portion of their time in Denver will acclimate their bodies to the altitude.

The only thing that holds up in his article is his point that altitude affects a breaking ball. It's true that balls don't break in Denver as well as they do at sea level. That's been known since the mid-90's and is nothing new.

My guess is this turd wanted to write something on the Rockies' decent start...and went with the old "altitude" story. Chances are, he's never been in Colorado for more than one night.

On a related topic, this reminds me of Bug Selig making comments, in 2008, about how nasty Tropicana Field was. The truth was he had not been to the Trop since the new owners took over, and was unaware of all the modifications done to the field and to practically every inch of the stadium, from concessions to restrooms to special attraction spots. S.I. took the story and ran with it, using a mock letter from Raymond, our mascot, as an example of "Shut up unless you were actually here, and show up to see how much of an idiot you were for saying it." We all know domes are nasty, but the Trop did look wonderful, other than the interior of the roof, but we all know everyone can't stand that.

The point is... sounds like someone was making shit up, and I loved the passionate response of "you're full of shit" like you just had.

There was a world news USA Today "writer", circa 2002, who would just make all kinds of shit up and everybody ran with it. How he had been "on the front line" in Afghanistan, etc. His bullshit was eventually exposed and debunked. I'm trying to remember his name, but he's basically been blacklisted.

It's like if you suddenly decided to write an article on Canada's Northwest Territories. Like Tropicana or Coors, not a lot of people have been there (or care about it), so you could write a story about the Viking tribes, Smurfs and Howler Monkeys you encountered on your trip... and nobody would oppose it.

I already admited it wasn't a Smurf. Just a midget that fell into a kiddie pool filled with blue paint.
