Watching and recapping Judgment Day '07 for the 10-year anniversary of Da Site. I honestly don't remember any of this, except for Vince being ECW Champion. My time was almost up in following the product, so there's no familiarity to any of the storylines.

Oh good, I just sent in One Night Stand 2007! Great minds think similarly.

ONS 07 became the blue print for "Extreme Rules", IIRC?

Having finished Judgment Day 07, I can't help but feel like the show was a huge rip off. The top four matches clocked in at a combined under half-an-hour of in ring action, while each of the undercard matches went at least 14.

Yeah, IIRC, One Night Stand 2007 was Judgment Day with weapons. They had just done away with the single brand pay-per-views, so in their minds, these were probably "super shows" and interesting enough to do the same stuff over and over again.

Vince as ECW Champion ughh. I remember my buddies at the time who were original ECW fans totally ripping apart that time period of the WWE.

It would lead to the infamous ''limo explosion'' angle and we all know what happened with that mess...

Yeah. The Benoit murders and eventually Hornswoggle McMahon. Not a good time to be a fan.

I'll never understand Vince's fixation with midgets.

I'll never understand his immature sense of humor in general. I guess we should be happy there aren't hillbillies hanging around... for now.

They had a hillbilly midget in 93...Little Louie was his name.

Y'know, after further discussion, I don't think it's just Vince McMahon, as wrestling has a long history of "po-dunk hicks" and hillbillies. Going back to, at least, Haystacks Calhoun.

Who was the most recent "hillbilly" or "hick" character(s)? Were "Jesse and Festus" close?

Yes, we are going to turn this thread into "History of Hillbillies in Wrestling".

I'd say Jesse and Festus were the last of the classic stereotype. The Wyatt Family had backwoods appearance, but weren't the usual bumpkins.

I remember when I was getting back into the swing of things in early 2014...and thought it was funny that commentators would mention that the Wyatts were sending warnings to their opponents via Twitter.

Seemed odd, at first, that backwoods hillbillies would be into technology and social media. But then I considered that a cell-a-phone is usually a high priority amongst "rural Americans" and lower income areas. Your priority is to pay your phone bill; over your electricity or rent. Explains why all those cheesy pop-up phone stores are located in some pretty bad areas of town (both big cities and little towns out in the sticks). Having one of them there smart cell-a-phone doesn't mean you're living the Manhattan or Silicon Valley lifestyle.
