I'll post links to the episodes here when they start happening but a few friends and I are going to start reviewing the WCCW episodes on the Network and doing podcasts on each episode.

Is there a worse referee in wrestling than Danny Manning?

Haha, I even work it right in my notes. Oh well.

Manning is annoying as hell though. Total attention whore and ruins almost every match he refs.

Have we ever talked about wrestlers that go bare foot? That just blows my mind. Think of all the shit you could step on just walking down to the ring or catching a toe wrong in a match. Those guys are crazy.

Manning was usually the "fan's referee", so he's almost like the opposite of the heel lucha ref who'd blatantly count slow or look away. I agree that he does try to get into the action, too much.

Bronko Lubich was also on the fan's side, but due to his lack of mobility and advanced age, didn't do much (at least in 80's World Class).

Kevin Von Erich claims he wrestled barefoot because it gave him a better feel for the ropes. He supposedly picked it up from Jimmy Snuka; who was a bigger influence on him than I had thought.

Watching young King Kong Bundy work is an absolute treat.

Watching the 8-21-82 episode of WCCW. It has Bundy vs. Race.

Highly recommend the 8/21/1982 WCCW episode. That Race/Bundy match is excellent. Race just beats the shit out of Bundy and Bundy gives it right back.

Waitasec...is that episode on WWE Network?! I missed that one. Don't think I even saw it back in the WWE 24/7 days!

Found out that the dates they used for 24/7 (and subsequently the dates I used for all my World Class recaps on Da' Site) were actually incorrect. I think the "new" version on the Network are accurate, though.

They've done a mass upload of episodes the last couple of weeks. Like dozens upon dozens of episodes that haven't been seen before and this was one of them. They also have the episode where Fritz won the title and retired I think.

They have about half of 1982 now and almost all of 1983.

How dare you mislead us

And how dare you assume WWF has the correct dates either

We are recording the first two episodes on WCCW recaps this week and I will post the links when I upload. I think it will probably be 2 episodes a month.

Sweet Bouncing Tits! I am thrilled. Did not know they uploaded a whole slew of stuff! Like you said, a good chunk of 1982, almost all of 1983, plus a good chunk of 1984 and the start of 1985!

I don't know if the dates anybody has for WCCW shows are accurate. For instance, WWE Network lists WCCW #161 as Janauary 11, 1985...then WCCW #159 as January 12, 1985. I think the only way to do it would be to obtain a complete listing of all Sportatorium shows, then zero in on each episode and distinguish the crowd.

Also hurts that they aired in syndication around Dallas; similar to Superstars or Challenge. Then add in the always fluid "Fort Worth Shows" from Reunion Arena that aired on another channel. I think they also split up their main show ("Big Time", then "World Class" wrestling) into two separate packages. So it's hard to score "air date"; which was +/- 3 days; with "taping date".

Finally, add in the ESPN "Legends of World Class" shows from 1988; which were yet another re-packaging of episodes. In short, it's a big mess and the only person who knows the exact dates and matches is probably that front-row Von Erich lookalike fan (with the half-shirt). Assuming he's still around, that is.
