He was going by Dave Heath. Abby worked him in a headlock for like 5 minutes.

- Sad to say the most memorable part of Droz's career was that clip on Beyond The Mat, where he's interviewing with McMahon, and pukes on command... with McMahon encouraging it, like he was calling an episode of Raw, or something. I wonder if Vince finds great joy in getting people to do shit like that for his amusement.

"He's gonna'... he's gonna... PUUUUUKE!"

Not only was it stupid, but I can't believe that "creative" spent some time on his ring name and all they came up with was "Puke". I'm surprised they didn't go with "Chuck Upton" or something.

I spent all of 3 minutes, but it's tough finding any video of Drozdov's short NFL career. He rose to infamy by puking on a 49ers center during a pre-season Monday Night Football game in August 1993. When he made the Broncos that year,Gary Zimmerman offered him a BOUNTY (*gasp*) if he puked on former teammate Kirk Lowdermilk (another center) when the Donkeys played the Colts.

I remember making a special trip to the (shitty) "collectibles store" to get the update set that had Drozdov, Tom Rouen, Rod Bernstine, Robert Delpino and Glyn Milburn.

He never actually produced any vomit in Beyond the Mat. He kinda dry-heaved for a while, but no real substance. Disappointing.

I never realized the Briscos had a run in the WWF. They're having a feud with Adonis/Murdoch for the belts right now.

Hulk Hogan vs. Don Muraco
Andre the Giant and JYD vs. Big John Studd and Ken Patera
Tito Santana vs. Greg Valentine
Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda vs. Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff
Briscos vs. Adrian Adonis and Dick Murdoch

RT Reynolds became Cpl. Kirschner though I didnt know that until years later.

I remember the Briscoes beating Adonis and Murdoch on TV in a non title match with
double-figure four leglock submissions. I had started watching wrestling about a
year earlier, but since I had only watched WWF to that point, I had no clue
about their NWA runs.

Aldo Marino became Ricky Santana.

They've talked about that win over Adonis/Murdoch quite a bit. Adonis/Murdoch also did Piper's Pit on the last episode and talked some more shit about it.

The version I downloaded is the Boston feed. So all the shows have bumpers for the Boston Garden. I'm hoping that stays consistent but it might bounce around a little.

I really like this show better than how they worked Superstars/Wrestling Challenge. I hated the face shot promos and shit.

Don't ask why, but putting together a compilation disc of WWE's ECW on Sci Fi, up until December to Dismember. I've mentioned this back when, but for what it was, the show was pretty entertaining when it first started. Then it gradually started to try and boost ratings with the non-ECW associated main eventers/names like Undertaker, kane, and Ric Flair, which started to water it down... and then, of course, the infamously bad Batista/Big Show match at the Hammerstein ballroom that made Batista damn near break character.

For all the cons that were obvious, utilizing people like RVD or the Big Show in a new environment, as well as some of the "old" school ECW names, introducing other talent to filler out the roster (Mike Knox, Kevin Thorn), and using guys like Test and Hardcore Holly wasn't such a bad idea. I enjoyed pretty much the entire roster at the time, except for the one-time uses like I mentioned earlier.

Then December to Dismember happened, and I don't think I watched another episode again, sans the Halloween episode in 2007 I recapped a few months back.

Edit: I love how people use the Zombie (and other nonsense) as an example of stupidity done to ECW, when the only point was for the Sandman (or whoever) to beat the shit out of it because it was stupid. I don't know how people still don't see that.

I really liked ECW when it became a showcase for mid-carders. I thought 2008 was a really strong year for the show. A lot of guys really took advantage of it and developed characters.

Ric Flair vs. Big Show for the ECW title was Flair's last great match, not including his Wrestlemania retirement match.

Agree?

Agreed. I can't think of anything else, especially since I remember from the time I was hoping he would retire and stop tarnishing his legacy by hanging on too long.

Speaking of that match, I thought Big Show's reign was pretty good for the "third brand". Then they gave the belt to Lashley, who then drops it to McMahon? I was in-and-out for the rest of the shows run, but it usually did showcase the lesser used talent and gave guys more time to shine.

Yeah. That Flair/Show match is pretty enjoyable. I don't think I've watched it since it aired, but I remember enjoying the hell out of it.

Big Show/Flair is definitely one of Flair's highlights from the last decade. 2000's Flair does not equal 80's Flair, but it a good sample of "twilight Flair".

Lashley's reign kinda' killed the little quirkiness 2006 ECW had. It wasn't so bad when he beat Big Show for the title, but what hurt was when he cut a promo on the next episode. He walked out, stood in the ring silently while everybody cheered him for a few minutes.

Then he got the mic, said: "whew...Oh boy..." and the whole thing went to hell.

ECW Champion Mark Henry with manager Tony Atlas was really fun and his feud with Matt Hardy was pretty good. Evan Bourne also had a good run on the show.

I feel like the company has been hurt by the loss of the show. A lot of their really over mid-card acts cut their teeth doing the show. I think the whole run is on Hulu, maybe I'll check it out.
