Okay, I'm full of it. More like 40-some seconds. Here's the promo I was thinking of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PacHdSBdKw0 May 14, 1998. Saturn was still very much a flock member at this point. I think his challenge to Glacier led to him going out on his own, then Raven wanting him back and the eventual dissolving of the flock. |

Watched the 11-16-98 episode of Raw... and holy CRAP was it awful. First the positive: telling us, point by point, with helpful clips, how everyone was in the plans for the Rock to walk out of Survivor Series Champion. From Shane earning Austin's trust, to Rock's "people's champ" campaign, and the grooming of the gulible idiot Mankind. Well done. Now... the bad. All of it. Here's the Anti-Highlights: 1. This one is the weakest, but also a head scratcher. Ken Shamrock OFFICIALLY turns heel to join McMahon, after about 90-seconds of sucking up. A group with The Rock, who he had a blood feud with for almost all of 1998. And not one person mentions their history or "how will that go?" Again, not the worst thing, but a little odd. 2. Nonsensical use and "heel" turn of the ICP. They cost the Oddities a 6-Man Tag against the Outlaws (Giant Silva being so awful he was never allowed in the match). The crack camera team seems to have missed it, so we have to get special instant replay to explain it. 3. The Godfather pays off A REAL MAN'S MAN Steven Regal with three Ho's. Then calls him a "Fag" (the context was a lame All in the Family joke, but that's still inexcusable.) 4. Worst and Least... Hawk's Suicide attempt. Yes, about a minute into a match with New LOD/Brood, Hawk climbs the Titantron. Animal and Paul Ellering break character to talk him down, then Droz accidentally on purpose shoves him off. Yes, Jim Ross did pretty much say "he did it", but other than that complaint with smart fans, another incredibly bad and tasteless angle. |

Watching WWE Classics on Demand, and there's a Tag Turmoil Match from Backlash 2005 featured... anyone remember the Heart Throbs? It's amazing how unover they were. I've never seen fans sit on their hands that much for an act. This whole match is a "what the hell was going on" flashback. Tajiri and Regal were champs? Simon Dean and Maven?! Blech! Today's tag division looks like the 1987-88 era in comparison. |

The Hearthrobs were the Heartbreakers in OVW then their name was changed to the Heartthrobs when called up to the main roster. One of the two went on to a modeling career I think. I remember one was Antonio Thomas I googled them and the other was Romeo Roselli |

They've actually worked a Chikara show recently. They lost to the 1-2-3 Kid and Marty Jannetty. |

Good stuff, yet it seems like it's "Lex Luger does Ric Flair". Everything from the pauses to hand gestures. Example: "Jim Ross--- is there a Clash of the Champions?!" and the "mountaintop, big money, prestige" stuff. Still a great promo. I'd say that the '89 heel Luger is what they had hoped from '91 heel Luger. |

Was there ever a wrestler who obviously stopped caring like Lex Luger looked? During the tail end of his WCW run (91-92), the end of his WWF singles run, and any time after 1997 in WCW, you could tell he stopped giving a shit, and it showed in everything he did, from his facial expressions to lazy working. |

I liked piledriver Luger. I feel external circumstances hurt the 91-92 Luger. But 1989 Luger, he was fucking awesome. HHH wishes he was 1989 Lex Luger. |

Reading Scrooge's latest review, one guy who definitely didn't give a shit was Sam Houston in his WWF run. I saw him in some old Mid-Atlantic stuff from 1985 and couldn't believe it was the same guy. He was completely worthless and an absolute waste in the ring during his WWF days. |

5 years later, Classics on Demand recycles all the same stuff for December. Most notably the December '97 Raw where we had the European Title Comedy Match between Shawn and Hunter, as well as a lot of the "shorties." As for "new" content, I forgot WWE released a DVD of all Hell in a Cell Matches. I wouldn't watch the entire thing straight through on here, but I definitely am going to watch HBK/Taker and Foley/HHH before it comes off the playlist. |

Watching bits and pieces from the WWE Best of SNME DVD, and was thinking how much I enjoy it, and how it still could've been a bit better. Santana/Perfect from the 7/90 episode is easily in the Top 5 of best matches from the history of SNME, and easily one of the few that stand out from the later years. |

The Sid/Hogan stuff from 2/92 to advance the "angle" for their WrestleMania match seems so forced. When Savage turned on Hogan, it felt genuine, because Hogan WAS stealing the spotlight, and was a bit too friendly with Liz. What was Sid's motivation? Hogan posing during a match? Hey Einstein, he always does that. |

I liked the Hogan/Sid stuff because it was SO telegraphed. It was so obvious, even in storyline terms, that Sid was going to turn. Sid's pre-match promo on SNME about "sincerely" apologizing to Hogan was a hoot. For his motivation, it all stems from the WWF title and the Royal Rumble. Sid felt he would've won the title and the match had Hogan not messed with him. Then, Sid not being named the #1 contender and having it go to Hogan?! That was BOGUS! The most bogus decision Jack Tunney has ever made! When Sid turned during the SNME match, they were still running with Hogan vs. Flair as the announced main event of WrestleMania VIII. So the animosity was all about the title. |
